Why don't my files automatically save to the same place as they're opened from?

This used to happen, e.g. I open a file from a folder, edit it, and when I select 'save' or 'save as' my first option in the finder window will be to save the file in the same folder where I opened it from. Ever since upgrading to OSX 10.9.1, this doesn't happen. Often it will direct me to my desktop or several folders back from the one where I opened the file from. It's driving my insane! Any ideas?

That said the current build of iTunes appears to have a bug when it comes to imported video files and changing the media kind from Home Movies to something else. Other users have reported that the content isn't automatically relocated. As a workaround turn keep organized off, then turn it back on again and iTunes should move all content to the default locations.

Why don't group tabs automatically save? Please answer.

I set up the group tabs and they worked, but then I left the group to a site not in the groups. When I clicked on the group tabs icon to get back to the group tabs, the group windows were there, but empty except the site that I was currently on was in showing on top (in) one of the groups.
I find no clear instructions on how to save these group tabs and their content, or reopen them in another session.
Please explain how to save these group tabs and then reopen them.

I have already tried the suggestions at the "tab-groups-organize-tabs" page.
This is not an answer. If you can successfully save these group tabs tell me how, don't refer me to instructions that don't work. By the way, I tried closing the browser with the upper left menu/exit; groups were gone. I checked the options/settings and did as recommended -didn't work. I'm at this point pretty much convinced that it is a bug in the program that Mozilla has not yet addressed; yet they still send emails suggesting you try their groups tabs function! Just a waste of my time to email me suggestions that don't work.

Thanks for your response. The image was on a site I maintain. I have already replaced the image with a jpg, which works fine. I believe I can duplicate the problem, if you think it is worth it. Gimme a few...

Just checked. The png still does not display on iPhone(5) or iPad(3). The image was also made by me in pixelmator and both (png and jpg) were exprted from pixelmator.

Thanks for the replies and help. Since I was taking pictures of the same image in both color and B&W, I didn't know that the B&Ws were being imported in color and didn't catch it. The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos. However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled. What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

Why don't you guys make so that the Xperia tablet Z can connect with the PS4 the same way as Vita does, you know being able to stream video and audio directly to the tablet and being able to play the game straight from the tablet, (i know that the Vita advertisement is just to boost sales, but i already have a controler, let me put it for good use). microsoft have mentioned their "glass" app that lets you stream games directly to the tablet, but what if sony could do it as well but specific to the Xperia tablet z..(later on maybe for other android phones.)

Do the pictures from my iphone that go through the photostream automatically save to the computer, or do i need to save them manually to make sure they dont get deleted?

Why does typing in "file:///Users/ (admin name)/Desktop" reveal contents of a personal nature from my computer? Can't anyone from any other computer get this info. from my computer by doing the same thing?

I'm concerned that if someone else on a different computer typed in this info. (only requiring my computer's user name) that he would have access to contents on my desktop. I am running Mac OSX 10.6.5.

If someone on another computer would type that address in the location bar that they would open a local page on their computer, but probably get an alert that the page doesn't exist because their user name is different. You can only access pages on another computer if a server running on that computer makes them available and then you need to use the http:// protocol. Using the file:// protocol will always be limited to the computer on which you issue the command.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
