Why don't they put how much usage each update will take. I am on broadband and not sure if I have enough GBs left to do an update.
I have broadband and it just cost me $75 OVER my monthly bill to download Yosemite and the update for iphotos. NOW, I have notice that it needs two more updates. Why don't they tell us how much data will be used with an update so we can plan when and which updates to do now, and some later? The old system they had, they did tell and I was able to ration out which ones to update over the months.
It all depends on how much you'll use the iPhone for internet access. Personally, I use it frequently (work email, browsing with Safari, the Amazon.com app, etc.,) and I use 200-300 MB per month. My wife does not use her iPhone for much outside of email, weather, etc., occasional Internet browsing, and she uses 40-50 MB per month. So, you should be fine with 150 MB.

Anything to do with the cost-based optimizer, Jonathan Lewis is your man. His interpretation of cost is "the time to completion of a query, but expressed in units of single block reads rather than in proper time units".
Of course, as Tom Kyte points out, the Explain Plan is only a mathematical model predicting the query's performance. Cost is an estimate not a guarantee.

Hi, just bought an iphone 3gs - and im worried about it lol
i decided to connect to 3 and use the lowest plan ($39cap) that doesn't have much internet bandwidth (150mb). Will 150mb of data be enough to safely use my iphone with out exceeding its usage and being charged for additional usage?
im not sure as to how much internet the iphone uses without the user accessing additional content such as web, applications etc. im considering paying an extra $6 each month for 500mb of data cause im not feeling assured that im in the safe zone and discovering my iphone is causing me financial pain.
could i have some insight on this area - i need to know how much internet the iphone uses without me accessing various apps, such as hidden internet usage that my apps might access without me knowing, and whether im safe with 150mb. i was told that since i signed up to 24 month contract im not going to be able to get the additional 500mb plan, but since i signed up today i think there is a cooling off period which allows me to change but im not sure, going to go in tomorrow to see if i can make the change.

I recently changed PC's and authorised new laptop, copied itunes to my external hd. Imported itunes to new Laptop but did not show in itunes when opened so I got them from icloud and have to download all the time. How can i get the tunes live again in itunes? My previous location of the songs on the old PC was c/users/home/previous itunes libraries/itunes media. They default is presently c/users/les/music.

LesI have tried everything I have read on the Internet about sync issues and restore etc and not there isn't a single song on my iPad or iPod touch. All of the songs are listed in my iTunes but are all greyed out, some have the cloud symbol next to them but lots don't and some say waiting.

I was instructed by I Tunes to restore my Iphone 4 - ITunes has since said it is unable to restore. I am now left with a black screen with Itunes logo on it and a picture of the charger attachment at the base of the screen and I am unable to do anything now with the device. I think I may have lost all of my information on the device too ~ can anyone help please?
You have lost all your data, but hopefully you were backing it up with iCloud or iTunes. You can try this:
Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings. -

Is there any way to see how much IO each open port is doing?
Netstat, lsof and portstat all show the open ports. I want to see how much IO each is doing. Even better would be an historical list.
Seems like such a useful piece of data that one would think that the command exists and is probably some option on netstat or something that I have missed.
I will even write the C program to extract the information from the kernel if that data exists but is not available from an existing command.
I suppose if nobody knows what that command would be perhaps they can point me toward the kernel docs to see if I can find the information in the OS?

My iTunes library says 4149 songs, my iPhone says 4148 songs, and my iPad says 4147 songs. Why don't they match?! How can I fix it???
Yes. I selected all songs and checked them (in case I missed a few) and synced. I have also tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it. I tried selecting all songs and unchecking them, re-syncing my phone (which didn't get rid of the songs on my phone like i thought it would), then selected all songs again, checked them, and resynced again--nothing changed. I went to the iTunes store and selected "Check for all available downloads" and it gave me the message"All purchases have been downloaded for this account." I checked for duplicates, deleted a few and resynced. This reduced the number of songs, but it still doesn't match what the iTunes library says...I don't know what to try next...

My UI preferences are set to identical settings in Illustrator and InDesign ("scale to lower supported scale factor") and AI looks perfect, ID is too big. Why don't they look the same if the settings are the same? Driving me CRAZY. I have my windows scaling factor at 124% and it needs to stay enlarged, otherwise nothing else on my system will be readable. The inconsistency of the workspaces is so annoying.

Now that iPad has multitasking gestures, why don't they just add a gesture for going back and forward in safari? Just like in a mac, with the multitouch gestures. The osx Lion got the launchpad idea from the ios, so why don't the ios gets something from osx?

They do. If you forget your Apple ID password, you go to Manage your Apple ID and click on Reset Password and answer your Security Questions....
