Why don't USB stereo audio input devices work with  the iPod Touch 4G?

The Fostex AR-4i and the Line6 Mobile In provide stereo audio input via USB on the iPads and the iPhone 4.
Why can't these devices work on an iPod Touch 4G?

Does the manufactur say it works with the iPod Touch?  Many accessories do not work with all three iDevices (iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone)

  • Why does Apogee Jam not work with the Ipod Touch 4G

    Hi,
I have a Apogge Jam an it works fine with my Mac Book, but it does not seem to be compatible with my Ipod Touch 4g.
Only the Gibbson L&M app recognize the Apogee Jam, but no other App (Ampkit, ....) :-((
With the IPhone 4 it shall work, can tell me anybody why Apogee Jam is not compatible with the Ipod Touch 4g (
    although the Gibson-App works)?
Is there perhaps still other Apps which work with the Ipod Touch and Apogge Jam?
    Thanks
    Michael

I cannot answer the specifics, but I would guess it is a software issue because Griffin iTalk app will cooperate with the Apogee JAM on an iPod Touch 4g running iOS5.  If this app can do it, then one would presume the other apps could be updated to do it also.
From last week up until yesterday, Apogee actually listed the 4G Touch as a compatible device with the JAM.
Apparently there was some confusion about Garageband now supporting iPod Touch and its functionality with JAM.

  • Do usb cables from older ipods work with the ipod touch?

I have several older OEM usb cables from older ipods, but they don't seem to want to fit into my new Touch.  I don't want to break it.  The body of the end that goes into the unit is smaller than the old ones.  Have the plugs changed?

Never mind.I found the same question answered several other times.  Thanks, folks!

  • Why doesn't my Bose Sound Dock work with my iPod Touch?

I have a Bose Sound Dock, purchased about 2006 or 7.  It worked fine with the 5th gen iPod Classic, but will not work with the iPod Touch.  Does anyone know why?
    Thanks!

Very likely because it does not comunicate with iOS devices.  The "dumb" iPods do not use iOS but a very simple OS instead. The first iPod Touch came out in Sept 2007.

  • Why are the application in the apple store are not compatible with the iPod touch 4g? Apple please realize there are some of us who still have the iPod touch 4g!

Why are the application in the apple store are not compatible with the iPod touch 4g? Apple please realize there are some of us who still have the iPod touch 4g! I just want to know.

Once I find the game i will truly screenshot that it states "not compatible for these models". I just find it RIDICULOUS that my iPod touch is in good condition and some of the applications that I want download sometimes are not compatible with my iPod touch 4g. I am not going to buy an ipod 5th generation if my 4g is still going strong since the year of 2010.

  • Why does only 1 of my 3 devices "associate" with the Cloud?

I understand that Apple's Cloud service for uploading will not be available til Fall.  But I also infer that tracks purchased from iTunes can at the present instant be accessed from the new "Cloud" providing it's done with the newest version of iTunes (10.3) and with an iPod Touch 3th or 4th gen. or an iPad 1st or 2nd gen.  However, when I connect my iPod 3, iPod 4, and iPad 1 to my computer with iTunes and go to my account, I'm told that only one--the iPod Touch 4th generation is "associated" with the Cloud.  Is is possible to "associate" all 3 devices with the "Cloud"?
Several months ago I followed the directions on Apple's web page and changed my I. D. number to a different, all-purpose I.D.  When I enter my old ID in my account, I'm told that I apparently have no device "associated" with the Cloud, so perhaps I should be grateful that at least my 8 gig iPod 4th generation is "associated" with the Cloud, provided I use my 2nd, newer I.D.  Still iCloud becomes more puzzling the more I try to get all machines and devices in synch.  Up to this point, the Amazon Cloud has been far easier to negotiate.

I probably "over-read" the Apple website hype about the advantages of creating a single personal Apple I.D. which would apply to practically all things Apple.  To quote:  "An Apple ID lets you personalize your Apple experience. Once you've created an Apple ID, you'll use it to access Apple resources where it's helpful to identify yourself. From Apple Discussions to iTunes to the Apple Online Store and everything in between, Apple ID is your passport to the extended Apple experience."
Hence, I created an "Apple ID," following the example "[email protected]"  (Who wants to miss out on a "passport to the extended Apple experience.")  However, I already had an ID (though it was not my Apple address), and apparently was already the benefactor of the benefits of the so-called "personal Apple ID."  Consequently, I now have two different iTunes IDs and two different passwords.  Apple has responded to my requests to have a single ID by saying that my request is for the impossible.  I simply have to remember both IDs and both passwords, entering both when attempting to use different computers and devices while downloading and taking inventory of my iTunes files.
So I'm pretty sure I've followed your suggestions already with respect to all 3 "eligible" devices, but I'll certainly give it another go-round.  From what you say, it appears that being "associated" with the cloud should not limit me only to an iPod Touch 4th generation.

  • Why hasn't apple given a exact release date for the iPod Touch 5G?

I don't get why the iPhone and iPod couldn't have just been released at the same day. What are your thoughts on why they chose to release the iPod Touch 5G a month after the iPhone 5?

Well, that isn't going to work in my case... I've ordered the iPod Touch 5 as a replacement for my iPhone 4, since I rarely use mobile 3/4G internet, what with so many WiFi Hotspots available that are both faster and cheaper. The new iPod Touch 5 plus a simple cell phone will do fine, thank you very much, at about half the fixed and variable costs...

  • Why can't I hot sync my outlook calendar with my ipod touch?

Since I bought my ipod touch I have used Outlook calendar, notes & contacts.  I have never had a problem syncing those programs.  After the first of this 1 1/2 years of using my ipod touch, it started not syncing the outlook calendar but my outlook notes & contacts still sync.  I have tried resetting it, restoring it, deleting outlook and reinstalling it, unmarking to sync with outlook and explorer in itunes and then checking it to sync with outlook again.  I have an extended warranty with Walmart where I bought it, and I sent it to them.  They sent it back saying nothing is wrong with the ipod (which I told them on the phone) because everything else works.  I have searched Microsoft & Apple for answers to this but I have found nothing.  It seemed to stop syncing the calendar after the 1st of the year and  I have been trying to fix this problem since then.  Does anyone have a clue as to why or how to fix this problem?

In this case you would have to add this account in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud" for email, calendars, contacts, reminders etc. After you have finished checking emails, etc. you can delete your account in the same way.

  • My iPod touch 4th gen iOS5.1.1 can't be recognised by my computer and I have tried different cables and usb ports but nothing has worked. The iPod is brand new and was only opened today. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have just today recieved a brand new iPod Touch 4th generation iPod with the latest update. Everything else on the ipod is working and my computer is able to read the camera fine, but iTunes cannot recognise it - even after restarting and trying different USB ports and cables.  There is nothing at all coming up on the device list and iTunes is working as it would if I had no iPod plugged in. This is my first iPod on this computer and I have already tried redownloading iTunes. My computer is a windows XP computer. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem?

Since this is an XP machine, which version of iTunes do you have installed?  Is it the latest version?
Have you tried starting iTunes, attach the USB end of the cable, then while holding the home button on the iPod connect the 30-pin connector end of the cable to the iPod...that is the recovery mode but also should make iTunes see the iPod.
If that doesn't work you may need to take the iPod back and have it tested by the genius bar techs to make sure the connector is not bad.

  • Why doesn't my EarPods with 3.5 mm work with my iPod touch and my MacBook Pro?

I have an iPod touch 4g and a Macbook Pro that i bought on October of 2013. I have an EarPod 3.5mm but it won't work witht these items. Should it work? Should it not work? You can hear sounds but they are unclear or you cannot hear them at all if you listen to them.

If you have another device that uses headphones try it with that. If they don't work get them replaced or buy some good headphones.
    You are welcome.

  • For the iPad 2. Why don't they make a recording app just like the iPod or iPhone ?

I have an iPad 2. I want to know why there isn't a recording app that isn't on for factory apps? Can they make an update or something for one?

I'm sure they "can" do it.  It's up to Apple if they "will."

  • Problems with my USB 2.0.4 card working with my ipod 3RD GEN

So I have a 3rd Generation ipod 15gigs and I wanted to install a USB 2 card in my Mac desktop (G4 Dual) since my fire ports have been giving me issues when I try to tranfer things to my ipod.
I then went out and purchased a (Dynex USB 2.0.4 Port PCI Host Adapter card) I installed it but when I hooked up my ipod using the proper cable to my computer it did not reconize it nothing showed up on my desktop and my itunes to did show that I had my ipod connectd also it would sometimes freeze my computer and also totally drain my ipod of its power even through it had full battery life prior.
To make sure it was not my ipod that had the problem I connected it to another computer(G5) USB port and it work perfect. I also tried installing the Dynex in a different slot in my G4 and still incounter th same issues
If anyone out there could help me it would be much appreciated is it my card or my computer, thanks.

Did you press the motherboard's reset button, after installing the card and before starting up the computer? It's possible that the USB controller chip used on the Dynex (a distributor of generic-brand components) USB 2.0 card doesn't interact well with your G4. The consensus of opinion in the Forums recommends a USB 2.0 card having an NEC controller chip, for the most trouble-free operation. I've used the IOGEAR USB 2.0 (2-port) card ($20 USD) without problems, but quirks related to specific connected devices may undoubtedly occur. You'll be better off returning the Dynex card and trying a different brand.
