Why don't we get the choice to have an app or not

Why do we not get the choice wether or not to have icons for app? The YouTube, game center, and the video icons just take up space and I never use them. We should have the option wether or not to keep them. I understand that you either own the companies or have partnered with them but you should not force your customers to keep the icons on their iPad and iPhones.
Please give us the choice.
Other than that I love the iPad but now that I am using it for school, I need the space as much as possible.

You can always move them to a different screen, or, as you're on iOS 4.2, you can put them into a lesser used folder so that they are less visible.

It's not listed as an option. If you are seeing your iPhone in iTunes then thats it. You just click sync. (It works exactly the same way as if it was plugged in)

Why don't I get the little "locked" symbol anymore?

When I sign into a company website that I wish to buy a product from, I no longer get the little "padlock" in the lower right corner of my screen. Locked meant secure site and unlocked meant don't use it. Now I get no symbol. It doesn't matter if I have additionally signed onto their secure site. (llbean, cabela, amazon, 1800 flowers) all flopped in this regard. Even as I write this I'm not getting a little padlock so I don't even know if THIS is a secure site. This lack of a padlock symbol caused my husband to go to another company to place an order for flowers - and order by telephone. Me, too. Hope you can clear up the confusion. Mary-Anne

Firefox ever since Firefox 3.0 has been using the Site Identity Button
The padlock before only showed that there is a secure connection and doesn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server. So you might still be connected to the wrong server if you make a typo in the URL and someone has claimed that mistyped URL. The functionality of the padlock has been replaced by the Site Identity Button on the left end of the location (address) bar.

Why don't you get the full amount of memory in iPad?

I was wondering why a 64 gb wifi iPad 2, only have 59 gb free space. How and where does the 5 gb being used?

First, it's storage space not memory.
Computers see a gigabyte of data as 1024 Bytes.
Marketing departments call 1000 Bytes as a gigabyte.
All storage makers use 1000 Bytes as a gigabyte.
Also, the firmware takes up space that cannot be used.
This is also reflected in the available space.
Hence my 64gb iPad shows 59.1 gigabytes total available.

Why can't I get the text labels for each app to go away? I only see 9 app buttons now; used to see 30 or 40

Text labels started showing up next to my app buttons going across toolbar. Because the names are fairly long (I don't need them per se); I can now only see about 10 buttons. I made sure the the box in the toolbar preferences menu which says "show text labels for each app." was unchecked. I even tried checking it, then unchecking it.
I can't get the labels to go away. I used to be able to see and therefore USE EASILY about 30 -40 app buttons. I just downloaded the latest update to firefox 8.

It seems like it can't find the trigger point tstaff. It is looking for:
ds_match: Searching for tstaff,automountMapName=auto.foo,dc=example,dc=edu
which isn't what the DN is in ldap:
Distinguished Name: automountKey=tstaff,automountMapName=auto.foo,dc=example,dc=edu
any thoughts?

Why can't i get the straight talk international calling app if i live in canada?

i've tried to download the straight talk international calling app to use in the U.S but can't as ihave a canadian itunes account. when i try to download it itunes re-directs me to the U.S site.
it says i haven't used my i.d on U.S itunes before so i have to review my account details. there is a button to click to pay with paypal, i changed the primary funding to U.S dollars, but it still won't let me download it.
any ideas? thanks......

True. But it is an illogical incongruency in the TOS which I'm not about to get into. My only two comments:
1. The "transaction" occurs in the place where you have your account as you need a CC and address in the country where the store is located.
2. The "portability" of the apps might be restricted, as it could be against the TOS to say: update apps while you are out of your "home" country or buy a tourist guide app for London whilst in London (away from "home").
I guess lawyers will have an eventual field day sorting this out.
My reason for my "nope" was not on TOS terms but whether Apple "physically" restricted the dowloadbility of apps while you were away from "home".

I had Firefox on my old computer and really liked it. I can't remember how I was able to 'mesh' Firefox with my ATT home page. All I have is the 'Google' search page when I open Firefox. The page does not appear to be the same one shown under 'Getting Started', with the various tabs, etc. I'm sure it's something I haven't done correctly but I need help.

google is block in some country. so make sure you are not the citizen of those countries. 2nd, some net admin of some organization will block google for some unsung excuse. so make sure not their reasons. 3rd, if you really could properly get into google days before, try to use "nslookup" to test www.google.com, if it cannot reply a proper ip version 4 address, then it is not the problem of firefox, it is your network connection or networking setting-up problem. so you need a network-engineer-alike buddy to help you. and how to use nslookup, if you can surf online, try another search engine like yahoo.com to get detailed usage of it.

So I've read that once your contract expires and you are put on month-to-month, you can get a $25 line access discount. But what if you just add a line with your own device and go month-to-month from the beginning? I do not see an option for this discount and I am paying $40/month for a device that I brought over without any subsidy or anything...

Why don't I get the option to delete a photo album when I tap 'edit' with my I pad?

When trying to delete an album after tapping the album, then tapping edit, there is no option to delete the album. When viewing photos tapping edit shows a greyed
out delete button.

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing.

When I send emails why do I sometimes get the message that my email address is not recognised by the server?

This only happens when I send from my Pipex mailbox. If I then change the sender address to my gmail account, the message goes off ok. I never have this problem with my iMac, only with the iPhone and iPad.

Why do I keep getting the message "Contacts have stopped"?

Frequently, when I am trying to answer or make a call, I get a pop-up message "Contacts have stopped" and I have to press OK in the message box before I can answer the call. If I'm trying to use Contacts to make a call, I have to keep pressing the Contacts button until the error message goes away and then Contacts will open. Is this just a glitch in my Motorola Droid Razr M or is this a system problem?

You must have had find my iPhone on, or it was locked by your phone carrier.
Call your our cell carrier first.
then log on to a computer to iCloud to erase your iPhone.
NOW... You will be able to setup with a backup.

That message refers to storage on your iPhone, not cloud storage. You will need to move content off your phone to make more space.

i am in tokyo and i just want to get the English version of JRE and JDK. Why is it so difficult, I have been trying for the last 8 hours to find mirrors and other versions and installing all of them only to see they are all in Japanese and I don't know why. I checked my settings, my local language is German or English, i.e. not Japanese, and always I install it it's in Japanese and afterwards I get the compiler messages in Japanese and I don't understand them.
And then... why is it so difficult to make a comment at sun? i have been to ibm's page and google, you just fill out a form send it, it takes 5 secs, here it takes 20 minutes to find where you can ask a question, then some more to fill out the questionaire...

You probally ARE getting the english version. If you are using a japanese version of windows or an english version of windows with the locale setting set to Japan then all of the menus (including the installer) will be displayed in japanese. So it just seems like you are installing a japanese version.
To check your local in windows 2000 go to the control panel and then choose regional options. Then, select the general tab and change your locale to one of the English locales. Also, if you want to keep your locale setting set to Japan there are other workarounds. However, first try this.
