Why dosent my mail apear in notification center?

why dosent my email apear in the notification center?

I am having the same trouble. I have had the mail client open all morning. It does absolutely nothing if mail is sorted. Which all mine are. It will put put a message in the side bar if something goes into the inbox. But no alerts ever work. I have gone through the setting which are all correct and I have it working with the new stuff but not mail. Apple want me to pay £25 to call support ( twice the price of the operating system ) I suspect by the look of this forum, so they can tell me that it just doesn't work.

  • Is it possible to delete mail from the notification center?

I would like to delete mail directly from the notification center, is this possible and how?

    Hello legaleagle10,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
While you are able to reply to messages and emails from the Notification Center, you are not able to delete email via the Notification Center.  If you want to delete your email it will have to either be done via Mail, or the Banner notification that pops up when the email arrives.

  • Why isn't clock available in notification center? How did they forget that

If reminders and calendar are available in notification center why isn't clock?

Do you mean alarms? Because the time is displayed at the top of the screen while in the notification center. If you mean alarms, it's probably because they expect people to stop using the alarm feature for anything other than waking them up in the morning, which probably doesn't need to be displayed in the notification center since it must be dismissed or snoozed immediately. Now that Reminders is a feature, it's much easier to use that as you had used the alarm clock before. You can be 'reminded' at a certain date & time without having to use clocks.
Is that what you were talking about or am I off the mark?

  • HT3576 Mail going off notification center.

My Mail keeps going off notification center. Even when I put it on and switch the "view in lock screen" option on, it still goes off. Any suggestions?

Leave your mail app opened after 15 to 30 minutes you should begin receiving notifications when you'll get a new mail. That's what appened to me, i left the app opened and after some times i began receiving old emails that i have already read !

  • Problems with Mail in new Notification Center

    Hi,
I have set my mail accounts to appear as a banner and on the home screen but this is not happening. I am still receiving them in the background and only knowing about it because of the ping noise associated with it. Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hello,
I can send and receive emails fine.
Wonder if your problem relates to settings. Have you checked the setting? Could you send and receive emails before the ML upgrade?
Personally I've tried reinstalling the application, without succession. I wondering if it can't handle the memory very well and that is why I'm getting the pixels and the fact it hangs when quitting. Would have thought 6 GB of RAM would be enough to run a Mail application, surly

  • My mail is not updating in notification center, I cant receive the mail in notification center, help?

Hi, I recently purchased a copy of Mac OS X Mountain Lion, after playing around with notification center I realized that if I get new mail I have to open my mail in the application so that it can appear in the notification center, why cant it just appear in notification center without having to open mail, thanks.

You have to open Mail. The reason is unknown now, but Apple can add it in an update soon

I tried to configure my mac to enable it to receive mails in the notification center but cant. i have tried to send an email from other IDs but havent received any banner or alert while using my mac. i have checked the show alerts and banners in notification center. Do i have to keep the window of the mail app in a specific position to receive alerts in the notification centre? Also, the gears are not appearing in the mail app when i fetch for new mail. please help..

    I'm also having this problem.
Notifications receives alerts from Reminders app, but not Mail.
I've set preferences in Mail for 'Inbox Only' and 'All Mailboxes', sent test mail from ISP webmail and Google (Mail is not setup to receive from this account) - still no notifications.
I had previously used Growl (v1.4) and GrowlMail very successfully (with 10.7), but while upgrading to Mountain Lion I was informed that GrowlMail was incompatible so I deleted it.
While testing this problem of not receiving Mail Notifications I have disabled Growl and rebooted.
    Like others here:
    Checked: Notifications setup

  • Question about the notification center (Mails and Reminders)

    Hello together,
I just started using Mountain Lion and now I have some few questions about the notification center.
    1. Is it possible to show all reminds in the notification center? I have a lot of reminds without an date / time and they don't appear in the notification center.
    2. Is it possible to show the last five Mails in the notification center? I'm just seeing new incoming mails, but I would prefer it, if I could see the last five mails
(no matter if readed or unreaded).
Thank you very much for you help.

    Hallo zusammen,

Only reminders with dates appear in the notification center - undated ones don't. Once an email has been read, it is removed from the notification center. Apple has a feedback center where you can offer suggestions.

  • Why is notification center not working for mail?

Im not receiving mail on notification center, why is that happening?

    Good, glad it worked.
If you find you're getting too many notifications and get fed up, you can set it in Mail to VIP (smart mailbox).
You can make people VIPs by clicking the star symbol in front of their names and Notification Center will only notify you about emails from these certain people.

  • Why are Facebook notifications not showing up in Notification Center?

On OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 Facebook account is setup in Internet Accounts preference pane in System Preferences.
Facebook is configured in Notifications preference pane in System Preferences.
The Share Buttons widget is configured in Notifications preference pane in System Preferences.
When I view my Facebook account via my web browser I usually have notifications available, but these notifications are not showing up in Notification Center.
I do receive Calendar, Mail, etc. notifications in Notification Center so I know it works.
I can send posts to Facebook via the Share Buttons widget in Notification Center, but presently I can receive nothing from Facebook..
Anyone know of a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!
P.S. I read in another thread how Facebook can be setup in iMessage, but I don't want to use iMessage if I can get Notification Center to function properly.

I got it to work yesterday. I tried none of the advice from discussions dealing with changing settings, enabling/disabling accounts, terminal commands, etc. All I did was ask a Facebook friend to respond to a post, and I was able to see the notifications in Notification Center.
I know most have their settings configured correctly in System Preferences, but this is how my preferences are configured on OS X Mavericks 10.9.3:
    (1) Internet Accounts preference pane:
There isn't much to configure here. I signed into my Facebook account. I checked or unchecked the Calendar and Contacts selections. It doesn't matter. I left the Description, found in the Details button window, as Facebook, but it doesn't matter, either.
    (2) Notifications preference pane:
Facebook alert style is set to Banners, but Alerts will also work just fine. This setting is crucial because if it's set to None, no alerts will be received. I left Show notifications on lock screen unchecked, but it doesn't matter if I check it or not. And I put a check mark in Show in Notification Center, and the number of Recent Items can be set to whatever available setting desired, mine is set to 20 Recent Items.
    (3) Notifications preference pane:
I placed a check mark on Show share button notifications in Notification Center, which is found when Share Button is selected in the list of notifications like Facebook, Calendar, Mail etc.
Again, I did nothing else, and it just works. As a side note: before I got it to work I called AppleCare and a senior advisor spent considerable time with me trying to find out why it wasn't working. And his last bit of advice was that I should reinstall the OS. He needs retraining because that bit of advice was ill-advised, to say the least.
I simply had no experience with receiving Facebook notifications in Notification Center 'on OS X', and the AppleCare employees had no training in this area, but if Notification Center is part of OS X, and Facebook notifications are part of Notification Center training in this area should be standard, but the AppleCare employees were guessing, not advising, which certainly is not technical support. Hence, my AppleCare dollars were not at work as expected.
So without prior knowledge as to how the specifics of 'Facebook' notifications worked in Notification Center on OS X, my assumption was I would be notified each time someone tagged me, someone liked a comment, post or photo of mine, someone commented on one of my posts, or someone sent me a direct message.
When I asked one of my Facebook friends to help me test it out, the following occurred (I don't remember if I had Safari up and running at this time - Note: I was signed into Facebook via Safari. I say this because AppleCare employees did explain on OS X some applications must be launched in order to received notifications, which in my mind is wasted time and code for Apple developers. Why offer notifications if the application is already launched? Ridiculous, if you ask me. That's what configuring each applications preference to set badge app icons, if it's not already coded by default.):
    (1) I sent a Facebook post via Notification Center using the Facebook Share Button.
    (2) I communicated with one of my Facebook friends by private message via iOS device and asked for a response to the post I sent.
    (3) My Facebook friend responded to my private message, but I don't remember if I received a notification in Notification Center.
    (4) My Facebook friend liked my post, shared my post, and commented on my post. I received two separate notifications in Notification Center on OS X, yet I received notifications on Facebook for all three actions, seen via iOS device. By the way, I wish Notification Center notifications would stay in Notification Center until we manually remove them. If they did stay until we manually remove them I would have time to find out which action of my friend I was received the notification for in Notification Center.
    That's it!

  • If this is how Notification Center works (for Mail). Im not impressed!

I've have Notification Center (NC) working properly on my iPhone and iPad from day one and love it.
I assumed that NC would work the same way in Mountain Lion (ML)......it's not for Mail!
If Mail app is open then I get Mail notifications.  REALLY?   No need for NC for Mail if that's the case !!!  Works in iOS without having Mail app open.
Or am I missing a setting?
    Thanks

You can only have one app open at a time on iOS. On your Mac you can have many apps running simultaneously. So, like many users I have Mail running all the time while working in other apps. Try it sometime. It's one of the big differences between Macs and iOS devices.
Then why is it that other users HERE are reporting they are getting notifications with the Mail app closed.  Un-like you and many others (according to you) I don't leave my Mail app open all the time.

  • Facebook and Mail both send banner alerts in notification center for every action on facebook

So I added Facebook to my accounts in Settings.  Then I logged in to Facebook and modified my notification settings so that I would get the notifications I wanted.  Awesome. Works great.  Problem is, these notification settings in Facebook are tied directly to your email on file with facebook -- there's no way (at least that I saw) that allows you to disable getting email from FB, but allow OS X to pull in those same notification settings.
So now in Notification Center, everytime someone interacts with my Facebook, I get an alert from Facebook and an alert from Mac Mail that Facebook was alerting me.  Super redundant.
Anyone find a way around the duplications?

    I'm also having this problem.
Notifications receives alerts from Reminders app, but not Mail.

  • Mountain Lion: on the Notification Center notification and Mail:  how to limit notifications to an email account?

Mountain Lion: on the Notification Center notification and Mail:
how to limit notifications to an email account?
At least, is it possible to choose what email account, the arrival of a message launch a notification.
When running more than a dozen e-mail accounts, it may be appropriate to display only the notifications of one or two major accounts.

Which os are you using?  Which Mail version are you using?

  • Why are all-day calendar events not appearing in the Notification Center?

I've noticed that all-day Calendar events do not appear in the Notfication Center in iOS. This is a glaring omission and I'm not sure if it's related to a bug or is intentional but it should be fixed right away. Why in the world would you leave out an all-day event from the Notification Center? What if I had a wedding anniversary or some other important event to remember?

IOS / is no out for a couple of weeks and Apple seems to be reluctant to fix this problem. As a business device it becomes rediculous to be not able to see my calender entries anymore in the notification center. Is Apple now leaving the business arena and focusing on toys ?

  • Mail notification not showing up in "Notification Center"

I have few emails configured with Mail but when a new mail arrives it does not show up in the notification center.
The notification center settings for "Mail" is set up as Alerts correctly.
Should I make the "Mail" to start automatically after login??

I am having the exact same problem. I've had a bit of issues setting up my Exchange account and get iCal to work properly, so ended up deleting my Exchange account and setting it up again. Before, emails showed in Notifications, now they don't, even when Mail's up and running. I've got my computer set up to show the last 10 items. I would appreciate any help anyone could proivde.
    Thanks
