Correct, the passcode lock is not activated. So I can hit cancel when it asks me for it and continue. It isn't stopping me from doing anything but like I said, it is just one of those annoyances I would like to make go away.
I am wondering if it has something to do with a game I downloaded from the Apple Sotre called Virtual Pool. Because somethimes when I go to add a new app, I get some error messga saying the store cannot download Virtual Pool right now when I never asked it to and I already have the game loaded and working properly on my iPAD. Would that be a possible cause perhaps? The iPAD thinks I still need ot download the game when I don;t so it keeps asking me for my Apple ID?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
Before FF4 I just typed in a website name (like imdb) and went instantly to that site. Now I get a google search page--totally unnecessary. Google is unavoidable for information at times, but I use it only when I have to. I resent being forced to use it when all I want is (e.g.) my bank account. There used to be a "none" in the browser bar, but it seems to be gone now. I know you've got this whole keyword thing now and I can set it up so google is in the background, but before I went straight to any website without setting up anything and it was much easier, and no google. If this google alliance is the new FF, I want none of it--I'll go elsewhere.

Your keychain is probably locked.
Open up your Applications folder and then go into Utilities. Open up Keychain Access. Click on Keychain Access at the top beside the Apple then click Preferences. From there go into the First Aid tab. Make sure "Keep my keychain unlocked" is checked. You may have to unlock the keychain one last time by clicking the lock at the top left of Keychain Access.
That should take care of it. If not, you may have a deeper issue.
let me know what happens and I can advise where to go from there.

The iphone and ipad must be connected to the same icloud account. Are you by chance using different IDs to connect from each device?

There are two ways to resolve this for you. For the first is go and do a Reset All Settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. It will not delete anything on your iPhone, but it will put all settings back to default. If it does not work, the next step would be to restore the iPhone back to factory settings.

I can see why this would frustrate you, jlwutzke! It sounds like you may have Block Caller ID on your account. This is a feature that prevents other people from seeing your number when you call them. This can usually be removed on My Verizon http://spr.ly/65804WyI or by calling. you mentioned you've called before. Do you know if they have already removed this?
