Have you updated to the latest version of Reader (11.2.3)? Have you read the Help file within Reader about how to open PDF files? You can open a PDF file in most emails using the methods described there. If you have further questions, please check back.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete your live.com cookies here (this will log you out)
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

• Using Firefox 4.01, I cannot open a PDF in a new taw or window -- window opens but no PDF ever opens and cannot find in download file or any other file on my mac?

Mac Powerbook OS 10.6.7
Firefox 4.0.1
After a recent update, I now cannot open PDFs that have typically opened in a new tab or window? Have searched preferences for a fix but no dice... help?

Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

• Cannot open hotmail in ipad

Hi for 2 days now I cannot use hotmail from Mail. Error message said no connection to server. I tried to open from safari and got the same error. There is no problem opening in iPhone. How can resolve problem on ipad please?

What happens if you tap the home button from that page?
I think you must have push turned on for your mail, and that is the first thing it is trying to do. But from anyscreen, any time, if you hit the home button, it should return you to the home screen. From there, go to settings and do the work on the mail section.

• Why Safari 4.0.4 cannot open some web pages?

Safari 4.0.4 cannot open some web pages, while Firefox 3.5.7 works like a charm.
I tried to open http://www.bdnews24.com/bangla/ for which Safari gets stuck (never opens the page, except for the first word of the first line), but Firefox shows the page very well. The same problem happens for some other web sites as well (e.g. http://www.prothom-alo.com/).
(I have Ekushey Bengali AAT fonts, and they are working fine in Firefox and other applications. So this cannot be a font issue.)

HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.

Make sure you are running Safari in 32-bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
In case it could be a font issue in the future this may help.
Try clearing the font cache. In order to do that you need to boot in Safe Mode.
Shut down your Mac.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator. During startup in Mac OS X v10.4.x or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, even if normally you log in automatically. Boot time is a minute or two longer than a normal boot.
After your Mac boots to the Desktop restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.
What this process does... It moves to the Trash all font caches normally stored in /Library/Caches/
Restart your Mac and try Safari.

• I cannot open hotmail. I am also having similar problems with facebook. What can I do to access these websites again? Thank you.

When I go to www.hotmail.com the address tab seems to think it's on the log-in page, but the page itself is blank.
With facebook I can log-in, but get only text on the page that opens.
I had this problem before and it was resolved by clearing the cache and deleting all cookies. I have cleared my cache, browsing history, and cookies. I have also followed all eight steps on the Basic Troubleshooting page, all to no avail.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you.

I have already done all this as part of 'Basic Troubleshooting' (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_3-update-your-plugins)
The "Basic Troubleshooting' steps I have followed are:
1. Restart your computer
2. Clear your cookies and cache
3. Update your plugins
4. Restart Firefox in Safe Mode
5. Troubleshoot your plugins
6. Reset your Firefox settings
7. Reinstall Firefox
8. Make a new profile
and I still can't access hotmail!

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Firefox 6.0.2 cannot open pdf's using adobe reader

Dear all,
Firefox seems unable to use adobe reader to display pdf's. I've set Firefox to use adobe reader and I've set adobe reader to accept use within a browser.

Thanks for the replies. Dave, thanks for the really helpful link.
The problem that this has created is for some guys who are previously sending reports (multiple pdf's/portfolio) to their clients in a hassle free way since it only requires the client (recipient) to have Adobe Reader installed. Now it requires another program as it was sort of separated from the Reader family. Previously, instead of having the ussual coversheet for the PDF portfolio to include that it is best to view on the latest version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat, will now need to include the latest version of Flash player as well.
I have not tested yet, though probably on another topic, but does this also affect if you are planning to open a PDF created in Indesign and given the format of "page flip"?
Dave, do you have any tips on a possible workaround or atleast creating a pdf portfolio or any PDF document with SWF/flash capability to be user friendly or less hassle for a recipient to open?
I am really sorry if I have a lot of questions =(

• Cannot open hotmail with safari

When I try to open outlook in safari only ablank page comes up.
I have no issues with Firefox or other browsers

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

• I downloaded Firefox 6, but I cannot open it up because my computer is OSX, how to I reinstall the previous version of Firfox so I can use the internet? Help, hep?

I downloaded Firefox 6 to my OSX desktop, but I am not able to use it open up this latest version of Firefox. Is it possible to upload the previous version of Firefox, if so, how do I do that so that I can get onto the internet? I would appreciate the help
I have been able to update other versions of Firefox, but not Firefox 6

The current version of Jing requires an Intel processor running OS X 10.5.8 or later. The message you're receiving is because the iBook uses the PowerPC platform and not Intel. The last release of Jing that will run on your system is version 2.3, which they no longer support and it doesn't auto update.

• Suddenly after running Firefox for years, I cannot open multiple browser windows using Windows XP.

I have always been able to open more than one browser windows, so I can have my email minimized while doing other tasks on one or more other browsing pages. All of a sudden, I can only open one browsing page. When I try to open a second, I get the red circle with a diagonal slash through it stopping me.
Can anyone help me?

Hi,
The path to the profile would usually be '''My Computer''' > '''?:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\***.default''', if there are no other profiles. If there is another profile, it would be that instead of ***.default. You may have to enable hidden files and folders.

• Since I updated to Maverick, why is it that I cannot open the AppStore or Updates?

I am very frustrated. I had my husband do fresh install and once I download Adobe Reader and the Installer, then I cannot go into the AppStore or Updates.
All this started since I use Maverick. I tried to go back to Mountain Lion which I purchased, but I cannot do that either. I am not that computer saavy and don't quite know all the terminology, so please answer in laymen's terms.
Thanks.

You shouldn't post your e-mail address in a public forum. I've asked the hosts to remove it.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
