Why firefox freezes every second momentarily while loading webpages?

Firefox freezes momentarily every second while loading pages and it is not smooth like other browsers out there..I'm facing this problem at home, office, etc with every stable/beta/developer versions!!! I've did all sort of troubleshooting procedures like reset, deinstall/reinstall, safe mode, etc. I'm facing this issue since the time i'm using this browser. Till now i'm with the hope that this issue will be cleared in the updated version!! But not!!
To be brief, Firefox is not smooth like other browsers! Try to give me a solution to fix this issue! Else pls give me a statement that firefox is not capable of loading pages smoothly like chrome, opera, etc.. I'll happily uninstall this and use other browsers!!

Hello,
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
# Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
#*Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
#*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
#At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
#Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
#Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

• A Critical error encountered while loading webpage.

Was running 2.1.51  and when browsing to the status link while logged in to the web gui I got a blank web page with the following text:
A Critical error encountered while loading webpage.
Reboot router - log back in - can go anywhere except the status page -- get same error page
made the mistake of downloading and upgrading firmware to 2.1.71   = upgrade completed successfully = presented with the new login screen confirming that the box is running the new code -- now when I log in - I don't get in rather the previous error page - and cant get anywhere.
A Critical error encountered while loading webpage.
the url is https://192.168.75.1/scgi-bin/platform.cgi   but it doesn't load only displays the error.
could someone share another valid management url for the box so I can at least try to get in somewhere before attempting to factory reset this POS ;-(
thanks.

Thanks for the response.   Based on the number of crickets that I heard after asking the question, I did indeed factory reset the box.  Luckily I had a backup of the config so it wasn't too painful to restore.
I beleive the root cause co-incided with the expiration of the trend micro web protection gateway service.
For whatever reason, I did not receive any notification that the service was to expire but the error experienced was noticed just two days after the subscription expired...  I had successfully logged in without issue and was able to view the status tab only a week earlier.
be sure to pay the cisco tax on time or they'll lock you out of your box was the lesson learned...

• Firefox freezes every few minutes for a few seconds.

Firefox keeps freezing every few minutes, for a few seconds at a time. It's infuriating. It just happened right now while I was typing "infuriating". It's happened since I installed the Facebook Video Chat Plug-In, but I uninstalled that and it keeps happening.

Probably an over active security or "cleaning" program that's kicking in every few minutes and messing with Firefox.

• Firefox does not run smooth while loading websites.

Firefox does not work smoothly when it is loading any webpage. Specially, when I open new tabs and load new websites while it is still loading last website in other tab, the situation becomes worse. Main problems that occur are - page will not scroll, or scrolling hangs for a sec or so, works a little bit and it happens repeatedly, new tabs will open but not smoothly, website loading also gets affected in similar way. The dot that revolves on tabs while loading any webpage gets really annoying. It revolves intermittently. Imagine a car engine not starting, it starts, stops, starts, stops. That's what happens with Firefox. But once all webpages are completely loaded and scrolled 2 or 3 times from top to bottom of the page, then it is all good. All the problems occur when page is still loading in fore- or background in any or all of the tabs. I tried to run Firefox with all add-on and plugins disabled, tried to refresh Firefox from troubleshoot information. But nothing helps. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I guess my laptop is not having memory issues. I am using Windows 7 x64 based system. RAM is 4 GB. All other software work well. Most importantly, Chrome has no such issues in comparison to Firefox. Also, when IDM (internet download manager) takes over some downloads, the Firefox hangs for few seconds. Please help.
Thank you.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

• Firefox does not show url in navigation toolbar while loading webpage (in new tab)

Firefox 3.6 when opening a link in new tab the url does not show in navigation toolbar while loading the web page. All ypu see is "Type a Web Adress" until the page load.
Before with my older version the URL was visible in navigation toolbar even before page started loading. How can I get this back?

A couple of possible causes. First check for an incompatible add-on, for details of how to do that see the troubleshooting extensions and themes article.
Another possible cause is a problem with the file that stores bookmarks. One of the symptoms is the URL not being updated in the Location Bar as you browse. For details on this see locked or damaged places.sqlite.

• My Firefox freezes and wont do or load anything unless I move my mouse

It won't load anything unless I start moving mouse. Moment mouse stopped moving Firefox freezes. My OS Windows 7.
Thank You!

You can use more than 1 iTunes account on an iPod, I do that because I accidentally put 50 dollars of my iTunes gift card money on his account. If you got a new iPod, then it's probably saying something like 'You are using an unfamiliar device' if it's saying that, then all they want is a security code, so they can verify who you are.

• My Firefox freezes every so often and when it freezes, it stays frozen for a half hour or so. No matter how many times I quit and restart it, it still freezes as soon as it opens up and I can't click anything except the quit button. Why?

I am on FF and it suddenly freezes. The window says that it is not responding and it doesn't start to respond again. So I quit and open it up again. It loads all the basic images and then freezes again and stops responding. I try over and over again to quit and restart it, but it never responds and I have to swith over to using Internet Explorer when FF does not respond. Why does it do this?

Thank you so much!
I didn't think the first page would help me because I could still add, delete and edit my bookmarks, then restart the browser and it would've saved the changes. Also, I didn't think the second page would help me because my browser didn't have any of the symptoms listed. The problem I had wasn't with adding, deleting, or editing the bookmarks. I simply couldn't organize my bookmarks in a certain folder because the bookmarks would jump around when I tried to move them. However, I looked down the second link's page and found a section titled "Problems limited to bookmarks". I did what the first sentence told me to and it allowed me to FINALLY organize that folder!
Thanks again!

• Why does Firefox freeze every time I try to install Adobe Flash player? I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it with and without the plugin container.

When I have Adobe Flash player installed and I open Firefox it will freeze up as soon as I open an additional tab other than my home page tab. In order to close Firefox after it freezes I have to use my Windows Task Manager to end process. As soon as I uninstall Adobe Flash player and reboot and then open Firefox it works fine.

Does it help if you disable the plugin-container process?

• Why Firefox stuck ten seconds and my hard drive is reading after 2 minutes?

Well I don't know why is this happening, after I launch firefox, two minutes after, Firefox is stuck for ten seconds or so and my Hard drive is reading something, after that, firefox is running perfectly and if I closed it and re open it that no happens again, but why the first time?
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== Always?

If that is happening just once a day, I would suspect that Firefox is updating the urlclassifier3.sqlite file when that happens. That is the Safe Browsing - Anti-Phishing / Malicious Websites database file that is updated once a day = it is usually updated the first time Firefox is used each day.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Urlclassifier2.sqlite
older version of that file
Deleting that file, which forces Firefox to create a new version of that file, may work to make the daily updating of that files less system intensive or noticeable. A fresh load of that data will result in a much smaller file for Firefox to deal with. Data never seems to be removed by that file, only added. And it can get to be quite large. I have seen it as large as 67MB - on my system the lag seems to start when that file is about 60MB.

• Firefox freezes every time I start it up

This started after I upgraded to 4.0 Every time I go to open Firefox, it opens fine, but freezes right after. The home page does not load, but its tab reads "google" and the little swirlie next to it is frozen too. I don't recall any system changes prior to the update. I figured eh whatever maybe it's 4.0 on my machine, but I just downloaded and installed 3.6, and the same problem occurs. I've been forced to use Opera for the last few weeks, because I refuse to use IE.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

• Firefox freezes every five minutes, "not responding" for about a full minute at a time then resumes, only to do it again five minutes later

It's just random, about every five minutes everything just freezes. It's not my computer, just the browser. I get the (not responding) in the upper left corner of the browser. I have to keep waiting about a full minute for the browser to resume. This only started happening after I downloaded Firefox 7

Did you give it a try to be sure that that isn't at least part of the problem?
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Can anyone tell me why Firefox "freezes" as a result of Script: chrome://fctoolbar840a9155ba174c8f8c94bbb4f37f9413/content/dca/core/dca/utils/DCAPostDataParser.js:1

Often Firefox will 'freeze' operations in mail, Facebook, Twitter, and other web pages. Normally takes 30 seconds to 2-4 minutes (sometimes more) to run its course and return control and activity to me. It seems there is a script in Firefox which over-rides normal operation until it has concluded it full course.
Here is the link to the script:

• Firefox takes 90 seconds exectly to load bank of america- IE is instant

When logging in to Bank of America Firefox takes exactly 90 seconds to respond. Internet Explorer loads instantly. I have spent a total of one hour at BofA tech support on 3 different calls. They say this is a firefox problem. It just sits there spinning until the 90 seconds has elapsed.
