Why Forms should run on Web?

Hi,
My form is running on the Web. But now I am thinking that why that should run on the Web?.
Is there any document that I can read?.

I have a database in my canada office on VMS operating system and machine is Alpha. Right now I am using a unlimited Telephone line to connect my terminals from the US in my database in Canada. Its cots some thousands every month. Can I reuce this Cost if i convert my forms from COBOL to Forms 6i. Will that forms working using Internet. Does any one have any sample forms on the web may i see.
Any help will be highly appreciated !

Always state the Forms Version and DB version when posting queries.

If you want a job to be run at fixed times and/ or repeat then you should use DBMS_SCHEDULER to schedule a PL/SQL procedure. Forms is not the right thing to use for this.

How to check which form is running on web

Hello.
Is it possible to check which form is running on web, on AS?
When you go on AS to forms/user session node, you can only see config name of forms (or form name if you haven't set config)
We have set our configuration for running forms in formsweb.cfg under configuration section.
Now under user session we can only see config name and not which forms is running currently under this config (user can access many forms in this configuration).
Is there some other way to check which form is currently running (and by which user) under the config?

Reducing size of forms to run at web...please participate

hey.
forms should be smaller in size to open quickly at web. which thing in form increases the size more as compared to anyother thing. i discovered that if you comment out your uncessary code in your proceadures and triggers it reduces the size of the form.I surprised why it reduces the size of the form while i didnot remove this comment out code from the form.

but my concern is the time consumed to open the form in browser after putting STATIC IP in address bar.The time it takes the browser to start the initial form in Web Forms always takes a long time. I bet if you run a test with the simplest and smallest form possible, you would find the initial startup is still almost the same as your production forms.
In fact, why don't you make a simple form that you start from the browser, and on it, put a pushbutton that starts your actual production form using a New_Form command. It will take a very long time to start up the simple form. But once you click the pushbutton, your production form will start almost instantly.
There is a lot of process initialization going on between the browser and the java processing required to run the form. I believe it is the java stuff that takes a long time, because any time I run any other (non-Forms) process on my platform that uses java, it also seems to take forever to get started.
I am starting to think the java world is a lot of hype and creates far more problems than it solves.

Help... I need help to install a server for my form to run on web

Hi there,
I installed a New server with Windows 2003.
I have some oracle forms developed using 6i, I don't mind to convert them later.
What other oracle 10g software I need to install to have my oracle forms and reports to run on web?
I tried to install in this sequence but not working:-
1- windows 2003
2- IIS
3- Oracle Developer Suite
Then I removed IIS and installed the Oracle SOA Application server also still cannot.
What did I do wrong or what should I install (I meant by sequence?)
Please advise.

Why installing IIS o_O?
For Installing a developer Machine just install Oracle Developer suite; for testing your forms you use OC4J ("start OC4J instance" in start menu), and you can run your forms in web; no need for a aditional webserver (don't believe there's an OC4J connector for IIS available; and if so I wouldn't use it either ;-))
For Installing a server for "productional" use install Oracle Application Server (available on otn) which comes with an Apache as webserver and all the other needful things for runnung forms on the web.
For configuring both of them just take a look at the documentations on http://otn.oracle.com

Performance issue of Forms & Report running in Web environment

Hi,
We have been using Oracle web forms and reports but experience slow and unstable of application when run in web as java applet.
Besides, after using quite intensively during the day or idle for some time in the day, forms is very likely to go halt, which is the biggest problem when we need to serve a lot of customers in queue. When this thing happens, the entire browser needs to be restarted. We can't afford to always do that.
Is anybody out there face the same problem with Oracle Web Forms or not? If yes, can someone provide some guidance and advice on this.
Really appreciate your help in advance.

SpotifyWebHelper.exe - why is it running a web server on my computer?

I do not want or need this, I especially don't want Spotify to run a web server on my computer when Spotify isn't even running, or for it to come up on start up even when I tell it not to. Spotify - could you please finally answer us? Why do you find it necessary to do this? It's sketchy at best.

Thanks, but what if we don't want that functionality? I don't want Spotify running a webserver on my computer that I can't turn off in any way other than manually closing the process. The fact that it constantly adds itself back to startup even when I tell Spotify to not come up on startup is also really bad.
I can't imagine I'm in the minority here. How many people, once they realize this is being done even when they tell Spotify not to, would continue paying for it?

Forms not running on web

Hi,
I have install developer 10g and try to run form from develper and before that i started OC4J Instance, when i run form it shows me that "Installed Sucessfully ! Oracle application server form services Oracle application server 10g" .
Once i click ok button it did not my developed form, and just show a blank screen, please guide me if i am missing any step, quick reply will be appriciated.

I missed to configure formsweb setting , but still i am not ble to find how i set forms path, i already set my path in FORMS90_PATH (registry editor) but did not work.
i have seen serverURL path which set to /forms90/l90servlet.
on test run if i produce full path of my form like c:\abc\test.fmx form is running.
Please guide me how i set my application path in formsweb.cfg

How to add new a font with Forms 6i running on Web URGENT !!!

In Forms 6i , I have added a new Font and installed it successfully .In client Server
mode the Form is Successfully Showing me
the newly added font. But when I run this Form on Web It does not shows me the font correctly. The font is a True Type Font for
Windows . I am running my forms using OAS 4.0.8.1 on Win NT. Do I need to make some configurations on the Server ????

1/ Actually most of the customers will use our app through normal 56k modems. Their first connection must avoid to download Jinitiator which is 8Mo, so we don't want people to use Jinitiator (opening the session is even longer with Jinitiator than IE5).
2/ Moreover, the applet window has a grey title line with the word "window" and the name form : this is not internet at all ;-)
3/ A normal connection through a firewall doesn't work with the famous port 9000.

When run report from form(6i) on the web,error FRM-921000

While I was trying to run report from form (6i)on the web,it will give me this error
message FRM-921000 and hang.
But when I try to call form using form,I do
not have the problem.
May I know ehat is the cause?

I am running Forms 6i on the web and attempting to call me report via RUN_REPORT_OBJECT. I am getting the same error as Jenny FRM-92100. I need to pass a parameter list so I don't think I can use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT. Any ideas???

ORA-06508,ORA-06512, why I should re-connect and after that it runs well?

I have 2 package.
package A depends on B.
I call the package A in c++ code. At the begining, all work well.
I compile package B successfully.
But when I call package A in c++ code using a existing connection to the oracle, I get
ORA-06508: PL/SQL:

when I kill this session in database server side and re-connect to the database, it runs well.
what is wrong, why I should re-connect and then it runs well, and in the mean time, it does raise errors above if I use the old connection?

It appears sometimes. But sometimes it does not appear.
you can create 2 package.
package a, package b.
A depends on b.
You can call the package A in the client side using c++ code.
then compile the b(do not change and code of b, just recompile it) successfully.
If you are lucky you can see the errors.

which web server i have to install?
What are the configuration required for that both (Web Server and Forms Server)?

Hi,
Forms Server uses the WebDB Listener for the web access.
Since then we improved Forms Services to use the Oracle HTTP Listener in Oracle Application Server. Oracle Applicaqtion Server also is the only supported application server for Forms on the web.

How to launch a local program from a Form running on Web

How to launch a program in local hard disk, say notepad, from a Form running on web?
I tried the HOST() function but it will launch notepad on the application server other than the client.

You can use the following code from a Pluggable Java Component (PJC) to invoke notepad

A web developer problem while running a web application

I'm novice to J2EE.
I've encountered a problem while accessing the deployed module in weblogic 8.1 server.
I'm sure that the webapplication module is deployed as i saw my module in administration console & also the status said that it is deployed.
when i access my web application by specifying the proper server and port no and context root it is showing
either 505 - resource not found error(http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2/Suresh) or 404 - not found error.( http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2/Suresh)
Now let me elaborate what i've done till now.
My webapplication folder structure is : C:\bea\user_projects\domains\mydomain\applications\Suresh\WEB-INF\classes\Sai\ServExamp.class
My servlet is ServExamp.java
I created a folder called "Suresh". In that folder created another folder called "WEB-INF". In WEB-INF created a folder called "Classes".
Since my servlet is in package "Sai", the .class file reside in \Suresh\WEB-INF\Classes\Sai\ServExamp.class
The source code is :

Now i'm almost done creating a web application. Next, I constructed a simple web.xml descriptor that gives a web friendly name for my servlet, and points to the servlet. I constructed web.xml descriptor file in the WEB-INF folder (C:\bea\user_projects\domains\mydomain\applications\Suresh\WEB-INF\).

Now I have told Weblogic that the URI /Suresh corresponds to my servlet "Sai.ServExamp".
My Web Application is ready to be deployed at this point. I logged onto Weblogic's admin console,
1) clicked on deployments, then navigated to "Web Application Modules" .
2) Clicked "Deploy new Web Application Module"
3) Navigated to the location of your web application folder (Suresh). There was a radio button next to it indicating that I can select that folder as a valid web application.
4) I Clicked that radio button and clicked "Target Module".
5) It informed that my web application "Suresh" will be deployed to myServer.It asked a name for my web application deployment. By default it was "Suresh"
I clicked Deploy.
6) After deployment, my web application "Suresh" appeared in the "Web Application Modules" tree on the left.
I Clicked on "Suresh"( my web application) then clicked the testing tab, then clicked the link shown there(http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2).
It was not showing my servlet (showed a 403 error)

I think so it came b'coz I don't have an index.html or index.jsp page.
7)Instead,I added my servlet on to the URL it provided.
http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2/Suresh
It is showing these error code: Http: 505 resource not allowed

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, check that it is entered correctly.
Open the localhost:7001 home page and then look for links to the information you want.

Error 403 when trying to run a web application

I am trying to run a web application(J2EE and velocity) that works perfectly fine on Tomcat but doesn't work on weblogic. I was initially getting a nullpointer error but I got rid of it when I removed xercesImpl.jar from my application's library folder and repackaged the war file. However, when I try to run the application now, I get the following error:-
*Error 403--Forbidden

The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it. Authorization will not help and the request SHOULD NOT be repeated. This status code is commonly used when the server does not wish to reveal exactly why the request has been refused, or when no other response is applicable.*
The application has been deployed successfully but I am unable to run it using the link generated in the testing tab. The application. I was wondering if there is any workaround for this error.

The testing link is using, the host:port/contextroot. Note that the URL is per default not accessible and give justly the 403 forbidden error.
When you have an index.jsp (or something similar) in the root of your Web application it will automatically load that one, otherwise
you will get the forbidden message.
