Why get CS3?

I've got Encore CS3 working finally (had the crash on startup problem, but now solved). Besides being able to use it to create Blu-Ray discs (I have no Blu-Ray burner, so that feature is pointless for me), what is the benefit of Encore CS3 over Encore DVD 2.0?
I've had a look through it and can't find anything different, besides Blu-Ray support???

Yessir...I'm revising my product right now (literally, like....right now) so it's all offline. I'll stick a post-it on my monitor to remember to come back when one of the free ones comes back online.
i'd refer you to someone else who's using it, but honestly, i haven't seen that many so far. one the other day, but now I can't remember who it was. another post it...
might be good to have a page up here where we can showcase our flash projects, hrm?
EDIT - ooooh, actually, here's one that's up, but there's no branding yet, you'll still get the idea what can be done straight out of Encore.

  • Get CS3 to see more RAM

Hello all. I'm on a seemingly neverending quest to get CS3 working faster. I have a Vista Ultimate 32bit system with 4gb ram and a quadcore Q9300 processor. I have recently purchased a second 750gb Sata2 drive to use as a scratch disk.
I'm now trying to decide how to best tweak the settings in CS3 for max speed and performance. I have noticed that CS3 is only seeing like 1.6gb of ram. Vista sees the full 4gb. I have read that i need to type this under the command prompt but have been uanble to do that right...
    bootcfg /raw "\pae" /A /ID 1
can anyone shed some light on how to get CS3 to recognize more avaiable ram? I found some posts on here about this, but I haven't found a solution yet with them. Any reason why I shouldn't get CS3 to recognize more? Help! Thanks!

    Robert-
I think 64bit is your answer for everything! The system just really be great for you to recommend so often. I'm looking seriously into switching...I'm just a little gunshy as I don't want to end up with a cpu that is unusable for any lenght of time
    Charlie-
Thanks for the info. I looked that up and it said that changing htis can cause some system instability. Have you noticed that?

  • Cannot get CS3 photoshop on my mac os10 to open my canon rebel T1i .CR2 files

I have spent hours downloading a variety of stuff and still cannot get  CS3 photoshop on my mac os10 to open my canon rebel T1i .CR2 files. I  have downloaded the Camera Raw 4.6 plugin. Photoshop acknowledges that  is the version installed. But it won't recognize the .CR2 file type.  When I say show me all files, the files show up in the open file dialog,  and the thumbnails look right, but when I open the file it is munged. I  also installed the DNG Converter, which also does not recognize the  .CR2 files.
Has anyone figured this out yet? It has been almost a year. I don't want to upgrade to CS4 or 5 or buy Lightroom.

The Adobe DNG Converter 6.2 will open your files, if you have an uncorrupted download and use it properly.  No doubt about that.
Once you launch it, be sure to target a folder containing raw files, not the raw files themselves.  At least on the Mac, the DNG Converter works on folders, not on individual files.
Alternatively, you can try dragging and dropping the individual raw files onto the DNG Converter icon.
Some routine maintenance may be overdue on your Mac, such as Repairing Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility, running Onyx or Cocktail, etc.

Can anyone help me with why photoshop CS3 shuts down when I use the scanner? I recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite.

Ask in the PS forum and be much more specific. You have not provided exact system information, crash logs, scanner details. That said, this may be a compatibility issue that can't be overcome.

  • Why will CS3 not recognize Pict files?

Why is it that CS3 Photoshop will not open Pict files, even after
going into Image Info and saying open all images like this Pict file in CS3.
    . . . . and yet . . . .
I can open the Tiger OS application PREVIEW and open the same Pict file?
I can open any Pict file in Preview and convert to jpg, then CS3 seems to
recognize the image file and open it.
Why will CS3 not recognize Pict files?

    Oy!
    The Mac Paint.plugin has to be in ./Applications/Adobe Photoshop Cs3/plug-Ins/File Formats/Mac Paint.plugin
You need to find the Mac Paint.plugin in the Goodies/Optional Plug_ins/File Formats/… then relaunch Photoshop.

  • MPEG4 in, MPEG4 out: why getting bad quality using Premiere Pro CS3?

I have to edit a great number of MPEG4 footage (H.264, 720p, 29.97 fps), created with a Samsung NV24HD camera. They have a good quality regarding sharpness, contrast, color. I want the final movies as MPEG4 files, in the same format as the sources.
When I export an edited movie using the Adobe Media Encoder of Premiere Pro CS3, the quality is disappointing. A lot of details are lost and the contrast is less than the original footages. Further, I see that the size of the movies are reduced with about 30%.
I use the H.264 preset ‘HDTV 720p 23.976 High Quality’, but with the frame rate changed to 29.97 fps. Other settings are default.
    My questions are:
    1) What's wrong here?
    2) Is the method using the Adobe Media Encoder of Premiere Pro CS3 the right one to do this job?
    3) Do I use the correct settings?
    Any help is appreciated.

  • CS3 - New features or bugs? Why does CS3 do this?

Just moved over to CS3 and Leopard from CS2 on Tiger and Ive noticed a few annoying things which were not a problem in CS2, they are:
When I copy and paste an artwork from one artboard to another it doesnt paste it correctly. For some strange reason it has resized one of the placed images and put it on a different part of the artwork and it has also randomly moved some of the other placed images. If I group the entire artwork first and then copy and paste it its fine but I dont want to group the entire artwork as I want all the objects and images to stay on their relevant layers. Why does this happen? Never been a problem in any previous version of Illustrator. Perhaps there is a setting or something? or a bug?
When you save a workspace Ive noticed that the swatch palette does not remember the list view settings so you have to reset this every time you open Illustrator. a bug?
Every time I make a PDF by using the save a post script first and then drag into Distiller method its always very large in file size and printing directly through PDF 8.0 doesnt even work at all. The file just causes the desktop printer to pause. In fact the only way I can get a PDF to work at a decent file size is by doing a save as PDF which isnt always practical. a bug?
    any ideas?

"If you don't want to group everything, try selecting everything you want to copy and dragging it onto your new artboard (as you would in Photoshop)."
Unfortunately this isn't really an option because I want to make use of the Paste in Front function where you can paste an artwork on the same size board in the same place each time.
"Copy/paste: bug. (you can sort of get around it by grouping the stuff you copy)"
This also isn't an option because I don't want to loose all my layers by grouping the entire artwork.
This is a really bad bug, especially for anyone who works in the Packaging industry. Any ideas if Adobe are aware of it and are planning on fixing it?

  • Why getting "DeliveryExcetion" in SOAP- XI- RFC scenario?

    Hi,
    This is the scenario :
    i) I made a Integration Scenario for updating a Network in Project System(SAP-CE8) from my Web application in SOAP->XI->RFC context. I was able to update it using transaction SE37 on SAP R/3. But when i wanted to update it through XI using web service approach. The Web service returned "DeliveryException" message. Caused by: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: XIServer:NO_RECEIVER_CASE_BE. Upon looking into Runtime Workbench in XI ... i found that a call was made across XI in Message Monitoring with "System Failure".
ii) To correct this situation, I reconfigured my XI scenario by deleting the previous sender channel(SOAP) and recreating a new channel(SOAP) and redefined the webservice. This time the problem got worse as I got "ModuleUnknownException" and no entry in message monitoring.  However when i tried with the old channel i still got the "DeliveryException" message.
    My Queries are following :
    a) What are the causes of "DeliveryException".
    b) When is the web service created ... after just defining the web service in configuration builder ... or after some time ?
    c) Why could it be possible to access the web service using old communication channel path while it was already deleted and change list activated ...
    d) What is the possible causes of Module Exception...

    Hi Ranjan,
    Thanks for reply.
<i>1) You get the System Failure message when the message coming into the Integration server is not valid and if it can't interpret properly.
Check the message you are receiving from the Web Services and your message interface and make sure they are the same or at least correct.</i>
Does it mean that return message from web service is not mapped properly? I have checked all the message mappings are correct in my scenario. What may be the possible causes of "DeliveryException".? Can you please specify any particular thing to be taken care of while doing Message Mapping?
<i>3) Check your Cache, if the changes has actually been activated. Cache may not have been updated hence the old objects still exists.</i>
I had activated the changes and cleared the cache after deleting the communication channel. But still I was able to use that old communication channel.

  • How can I get CS3 to open on new iMac with 10.6.4?

Just bought a new iMac and am trying to get everything moved over to it.  I use Dreamweaver, Fireworks & Contribute from CS3.  When I try to open any of them (newly installed from the Adobe downloads) I get this error message:
file://localhost/Users/jeanetteg2/Desktop/Screen%20shot%202010-07-11%20at%206.39.27%20PM.p ngLicensing for this product has stopped working.
You cannot use this product at this time.  You must repair the
problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or
contacting your IT administratoror Adobe customer support for help.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, still the same....
Tried out Dreamweaver CS5 and don't like the changes they've made - doesn't work near as well for me as my old CS3!

Did you look at the system requirements for CS3?
I am not sure about CS3, but I owned CS2. When I wanted to upgrade to CS4 (I usually skip a version because of the cost), my PowerPC was pretty much obsolete. CS4 requires an Intel-based computer. So I bit the dust and bought a new MacPro (intel-based). Consequently CS2 no longer works on my new Mac, and CS4 does not work on my wife's older Mac (her's is not intel-based). I think it's all a conspiracy to make us buy new computers and software .
    good luck,
    matt

  • Upgrade from CS2 CS4, can I get CS3?

Our company is slow in upgrading. Still on CS2. Hopefully we will get CS4 soon. But I need to work on some documents in CS3, somehow... If I get CS4 is there a legal way I can use CS3 to avoid the potential pitfalls of backsaving etc?
    thanks

I suppose the company is worried that if it sells it to you, you might expect support for the older version. Also, it might take sales away from the latest version. I agree though, it would be nice.
But then I'm in revolt against the constant pressure to upgrade OS, software, new computers to run it all, for often very little actual benefit. I buy individual apps and upgrade when I see a genuine need, often skipping a version. Amazing how the best thing since sliced bread, according to the hype, can be derided as old fashioned a year or so later - it's like washing powders used to be 'New!!!!!" again every so often.
But I know that attitude doesn't go down too well round here - shutting up now ;)

  • JSF - Why getting wrong path Handling URLs in Facelets Templates

Hi, I am trying to do a web application using JSF, Facelets in Netbeans 6.7. but I am having a problem:
Why I am getting wrong path ?
It is very simple, straight forward web application.
When run, it shows the template-client.xhtml perfectly . The navigation menu is shows ok, but they don't work. However, if I enter in the browser address http://localhost:8080/test3/portal/products.jsf it goes perfect to the right page and the navigation between About, Products and Home works perfect. But once I click on Home, the menu start to give me errors. Looks like the path is wrong again.

  • Why get rid of the Mini?

Why would good old Stevey J get rid of the best iPod ever, the mini? And what's worse is that the replacement, the Nano, although very cool, doesn't do the one thing that the iPod mini did to woo its customers, MULTIPLE COLORS! I love having a blue mini, but I would hate to have a l plain old white nano like everyone else. Colors made the mini so groovy and popular, and different.
Is it just me, I would like to know, am I putting too much emphasis on color?
Does anyone feel the same way or do you disagree, I think it would be interesting to see.
    Thanks
    Prindox (color's for all!)

If it's colors you want, "nano tubes" will be available in 5 different colors. Check the ipod nano page.
As Steve Jobs stated at "the event", the mini was a target for competitors. They needed to get something cool out. Personally I love the design (reminds me of the original ipod with it's "sharp" edges) and I think using flash memory instead of a hard disk is a good move.

  • Why getting "Run-time error 2046 the command or action 'GoToRecord' isn't available now"

    Hello,
I'm running this on Form Load:
    Private Sub Form_Load()DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
    End Sub
when I'm in the office connected to the LAN, the database opens without any error but when
I'm working remote through a VPN, I get this error:
Run-time error 2046 the command or action 'GoToRecord' isn't available now.
I'm wondering if this is related to a speed issue and more importantly, how to fix it?
    Thanks,

Make absolutely sure the query behind the form is updateable and the form allows edits
Use the following code with the forms On Open event:
    DoCmd.ShowAllRecords
    DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
See if that helps. Have no clue why it would work in one environment but not another.

    Did you type the command:
    java PFT
    in the C:\myjava\uk\co\nickhanlon\banking directory?
If so, you should type this command instead:
    java uk.co.nickhanlon.banking.PFT
The argument to the java command is always the fully qualified class name.
