iChat 5.x.x works in Snow Leopard.
(Older versions also work in earlier OS versions)
iChat 4 and iChat 5 had a method of getting to a registration page for @mac.com names.
The iChat version no longer does this (but the registration page still exists)
In addition to this if you selected AIM then the option does not work now as AIM moved their Registration pages soon after Snow Leopard came out.

You cannot use an email that has already been used with or is an Apple ID.

You need an email for Confirmation and for Password recovery (You can use it again and again if you want to set up loads of names)
You can chose a Name or use an existing email.
iChat can also use Jabber IDs
Google Mail IDs can have Talk enabled in their Google Account settings and then it can be used in iChat
Facebook have a Chat option that needs enabling.
Both use Jabber servers and your ID with them is a Valid Jabber name.
There are lots of other Public Jabber servers.

How do I delete all or multiple synced apps from iTunes where the app has already been removed from iPad?

I have recently purchased the latest iPad and been trying lots of apps. These apps are synced with iTunes on a regular basis. I want to delete synced apps from my iTunes backup that I have removed from my iPad.
I am aware of a manual way of removing apps from the iTunes backup but it is far too painful and cumbersome. You have to select the iPad under devices, click the apps tab up the top, and then see which items are not ticked (which runs very slow I might add, but it is a big list). After noting them down, I then visit the apps section under library on the left, highlight all the unwanted apps, right click and delete.
Unless there is some special way of doing this that I am un aware of, it would be really helpful if the libary application view had a column which informed me which ones were still on my iPad. I could then sort by that column, and then delete all the removed apps.

Yes, delete all the apps currently in iTunes, then transfer all the apps currently on the iPad back into iTunes. Of course it will take some time to sync the apps back into iTunes, but it satisfies your desire to remove all apps from iTunes that are not on your iPad without the need to laboriously note what is and is not there. In fact as a bonus after removing all the apps from iTunes you could open the ..\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications folder and delete any remaining orphaned files that might still be there, before you transfer purchases.

ITunes ping featured artists is not availabe in Canada and it was before why has it been removed?

In iTunes in the store section in ping where you are able to search for featured artists that feature has been removed. It says " the request could not be completed the item I requested is not available in the Canadian store" it was before why was it removed? Thank you

How do i erase a whole conversation that has already been removed from "Recent"?

As I understand it, the only way to erase a conversation is when the person u want to erase the conversation with, is still in your "Recent". I removed my contact from "Recent" before erasing conversations and now am unable to do it. Does anyone know how to do that? Please help.

Has LC Designer been removed from Acrobat distributions?

I've installed Acrobat XI and could not find LC Designer in its folders.
Has it been removed from Acrobat distributions? Is it only availabe as a LiveCycle module now?

No, it is not included in Acrobat 11 and is available separately. If you had Acrobat 10 installed, installing Acrobat 11 removes it but you are elgibile for a free copy of the latest version, but you have to request it.

Restoring a Data Backup Made With HP Recovery Manager - Recovery Manager has Since Been Removed

My system (Pavilion dm4 notebook, Win 7 Home Premium x64)) is working fine but I would like to restore a data backup made with HP Recovery Manager. HP Recovery Manager has since been removed from the system and I do not have a recovery disk. I tried installing sp45415 which supposedly runs a silent installer for Recovery Manager, but it silently fails on my system. The accompanying notes say it is applicable to Windows 7 computers and to Pavilion dm1 and dm3. There is no mention of the dm4. Is there some trick to getting sp45415 to run correctly? Is there somewhere I can download an installation package for HP Recovery Manager that works on the Pavilion dm4? Is there any other tool that can restore the backup made by HP Recovery Manager? If you uninstalled Recovery Manager it likely removed the recovery files in the recovery partition.When those files are removed-no download of Recovery Manager is going to install. You will need Recovery Media to boot from to restore the recovery partition and files. If you did not make Recovery Media you will have to order from HP. As for the files you are trying to restore- If this was a backup of personal files,photos,etc to external hard drive or dvds there should be one .exe file inside those files-probably Restore.exe or Recover.exe. Double clicking the .exe will extract the files to a folder on the hard drive of your laptop.

I have extensively searched for and tried practically every money management app out there to replace it. I had major problems with PocketMoney & iOS 8, but subsequent updates to 8 have corrected that. I only experience a crash when switching accounts, which I have come to expect. I even bought a high-end version of Quicken only to abandon it, and its companion iOS app. Quicken does things its own way and you waste too much time trying to get data imported and usable the way you want it.
I still use PocketMoney every day, but also use MoneyWiz by Silerwiz. I was a beta tester for their upcoming V2. There are still a lot of things that only PocketMoney has, like classes and posting future transactions in gray so you will see your cash flow (mine is set for 61 days out), and syncing between devices with images included. However, the company behind MoneyWiz takes their product very seriously and I think it will be around for a long time. Eventually an iOS update will make PocketMoney unusable. If you can get your data out of PocketMoney, MoneyWiz has instructions for importing the data and it comes over very well.
I keep hoping a software company will see the value of PocketMoney, buy it and bring it back. My guess is that Catamount is technically owned by his estate, and would be of value to his family to sell.
The best advice is to backup frequently with the iTunes desktop software. I trust a wired connection more than than WiFi.

Why's my podcast been removed from the iTMS?

I've set up a college podcast, called edPod, and we've so far recorded only a preview episode. Being the eager beaver I am, I submitted my feed to the iTunes Music Store.
Within a few hours, I had received an email from '[email protected]', saying the following:
"This is to inform you that your podcast has been removed from the iTunes Music Store because of a technical problem with your feed.
If your problem can be resolved, you can fix it in your RSS feed, and then re-publish your podcast to the Music Store."
That would be fine... if I knew what was wrong with my feed! I've looked at the apple podcast feed guidelines (http://phobos.apple.com/static/iTunesRSS.html) - and I can't see anything 'abusive' about my feed compared to their example.
Maybe you've been through the same experience, and could lend a hand? My podcast feed is http://www.kedst.ac.uk/edpod/edpod.xml
I'm totally at a loss as to what's wrong with my feed. Can anyone help?

However, I'm not too sure about why my feed is utf-8 while the server is ASCII. The college is in charge of the server, I just upload files to it! :P
I can see that the second line contains a "DTDs" rather than "dtds"... but since I use the application "Podcast Maker" to construct my rss feed - if I change the xml file on the server, will PodcastMaker overwrite it with the wrong information again the next time I update my feed? I suppose I will have to try it and find out! Also, Apple's own example has a capital DTDs... so surely that can't be the reason my podcast has been rejected?
