Why has firefox stopped connecting to the internet

One morning I was enjoying the internet. That after noon i clicked on firfox to check my email and i was not able to get on line. We checked and all the wifi gadgets were doing fine. my laptop is hardwired by ethernet to the hub so I checked that all out but the cord and connections are fine, plus windows gave my devices and internal conections an A+.
I have Windows 7 64. with two sata harddrives and two WD USB books. I back up to all of them with Casper backups. I booted with each and firefox was corupted in all of them. I was shocked. I tried system restore with no luck. My big mistake was deleting Internet explorer a few months back because I thought it was taking up space.
I wenton line with my laptop with which i am slowly writing this. I went through every off line fix I could find with no luck. I tried downloading firefox and eventualy IE and Chrome to a Flash key in my laptop so I could load firefox back into my Desk top. I have yet to find away to do that. I even found instructions on how to do that and I had a back andforth communication with an administrater on a tech forum. Everthing he suggested did not work.I was very polite but I havent heard back from him. I tried Portables No joy.
I am being wordy here to save people time who might think of the things I have already tried. In reality, I am at the poiInt where I will go ahead with a fresh windows system and try to salvage as much as I can. Unless, someone can explain to me a way out of this mess.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] by holding down the Shift/Options key?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance

My iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet when away from home. It was fine last Wednesday, then on Thursday all I got was 'Safari is no longer connected to the internet'. I cannot use the Messaging, Find my Friends etc.
As far as I know I have not done anything to alter any settings, but I did change my password on Wednesday - which works, so I think that's OK.
Has anyone any idea what is happening?

The first thing to try is to power down your modem and router for about 30 seconds, then repowering by plugging them back in.
Also, if that doesn't work, on your iPad you can try going into settings/safari/clear history/clear data and cookies.

Also, computers don't work that way either to share a connection like that. Just because you plug a device into a computer doesn't mean it can use it's internet connection that way.
Windows Mobile devices have been able to use their host USB cable to connect to the internet, since at least the year 2000. (And vice versa, more recently.)
It was actually a minor surprise at first that Apple didn't support it.

After upgrading, your firewall may not be recognizing the new Firefox version and is not allowing it access to the internet. On your firewall progam's allowed applications list, remove Firefox, then re-start Firefox, try going to a website, your firewall will detect the new version of Firefox, then give the permissions needed for Firefox to have internet access.

If you do not have an iPad with 3G cellular service, you can only connect to the internet when you have access to Wifi. Wifi is not available everywhere, but there are places that do offer free Wifi service, such as Starbucks, Panera Bread, the Airport, etc. When you are at a location which offers free Wifi access, you have to join their network, which is usuall nothing more than touching a connect option that should automatically pop up, when you open Safari on your ipad.

Thanks very much for the reply. I've actually sorted out the problem since posting - just a few minutes ago. I reset the AirPort and reconfigured everything in manual mode with the ethernet cord from my computer connected to the AirPort. I then disconnected the ethernet cord, rebooted the modem and AirPort, did a bit more troubleshooting and suddenly I was connected to the Internet! Still not sure exactly what I did that fixed the problem, but everything is working ok now.

We can join the network, but can not access the Internet. The password is correct. We have tried network assistant and diagnostics, restarting the laptops, re-joining the network. Our iPhone 4s also works all the time.

Since I couldn't figure out a way to edit our original post, here's another potential clue.
Our laptops, when in System Preferences>Network, say "WiFi has the self-assigned IP address of XXXXXXXXX and will not be able to connect to the Internet".
Strangely, my six year old MBP running OS 10.6.8 accessed the Internet straight away, just by opening Safari to my home page. My wife's six month old MBP running OS 10.7.2 could not.

Ipad will not connect to home wifi network, first I get the error message "safari could not open the page becasue the server stopped working" then after about 5 minutes, Safari cannot open the page.......because your iPad is not connected to the Internet.
Wifi is working (able to connect through Laptop) however, iPad, iPhone and my old iPod Touch all show the same error message.
Have turned iPad Wifi off and back on, nothing, have also tried "forget network", "renew lease" and "reset network settings"I have also completed soft reset of iPad (held down Home Screen button and stand by button) No improvement.
I have turned wireless router off, I have also disabled security on router to see if this is an issue and still get the same message.
Untill 48 hours ago never had a problem..........help greatly appreciated
