Why has Firefox suddenly quit showing pictures in eBay listings.

About two or three weeks ago I noticed that Firefox no longer showed pictures on eBay. Only a blank box indicating where the picture would normally show. Yes I am properly logged on to the site, and navigation is otherwise normal.

With eBay on display, click on the site identity button (for details on what that is see [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Site+Identity+Button]) and then on More Information. This will open up the page info dialog.
First select the Permissions panel, make sure that "Load Images" is set to allow (selecting Use Default should also work)
Next select the Media panel, then click on the first item in the list. Use the down arrow key to scroll through the list. If any item has the option "Block images from (domain name)" selected, de-select the option.
This should hopefully resolve your issue, but also see [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Images+or+animations+do+not+show].
Some add-ons can also block images, for example if you have AdBlock Plus installed, make sure that you have not accidentally created a filter to block the images.

Since the last update, everytime I try to close a firefox window from the preview, firefox wants to close ALL of my windows and tabs. I just want to close a pop up, I don't think it's unreasonable to be able to do that without actually switching to it. I haven't had any problem with this in the past.

With iOS 7, the devices have become more sensitive to the type of cable that is being used to charge the device. I have found that with my iPhone 4, once I upgraded to iOS 7, it became a little more sensitive to even my iPad charger. It doesn't always recognize it if I just plug it in, but if I slide it in slowly until I hear the charging tone, then I can push it the rest of the way in, and everything works as it should.
Any chance the cable is bent or frayed? How long have you had the device and cable? If it is under a year old, take it into the Apple Store (device and cable) so you can show them what is happening. They should replace your cable.

It is not possible to delete Safari, it may have moved to a different screen. Do a search for the app or you can click on your settings>general>reset then select reset home screen layout.

If your email is hosted by Google then there are several known issues with Apple Mail under Mavericks accessing Gmail. Using a web browser is a good backup. In Apple Mail you can goto the menubar, choose Mailbox and choose take all accounts offline. Then bring them back online. Worst case you may need to delete and readd the account (usually if something was setup wrong) Menu bar - Mail > Accounts.
If you have turned on 2 step Google Authentication then you'll need to issue a specific email password for Apple Mail to use to bypass authentication. Google the steps.
Best of luck in getting your mail server online. Hopefully you can specify multiple servers in settings.

Why has Firefox Ver 2.0.0.20 quit working on a Win98 SE system

I Have been using firefox ver 2.0.0.20 on a Win98 SE system for several years without any difficulty. Recently this stopped. Firefox either won't load or if it does it quits working after a few minutes and goes back to a continuous load mode. The ver 2.0.0.20 is still loaded but no longer works. Shouldn't the old version continue to work on the Win98 system, or has Firefox dropped support for Win98 system totally. If Firefox is activated shortly after boot-up, it will load and work for a few minutes, then drop off and stay in continuous load cycle indefinitely. Reboot of the system produces a repeat of the described cycle, It will remain working for only a short time, before dropping out.

In case one or more of your settings files have become corrupted, if you haven't already, see whether you can start up in the Profile Manager and create a new profile.
Did Windows 98 have Start > Run? If so, run
firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
When creating a new profile, I recommend using the default location suggested, and to avoid data loss, not re-using any existing folder. Before deleting unneeded profiles, I suggest making a backup first in case something were to go wrong.
Will it start? If not, there may be a problem with Windows, or with your Firefox program files, or with malware that blocks third party browsers. I don't have any leads on the non-Firefox issues.

My husband has been using a reliable medical site for years...suddenly the message popped up "untrusted site." We contacted the site--they connected us to their tech support--he tried everything with us over the phone (cleaning cookies, downloading latest version of firefox) but the only way to solve it was to give firefox the go-ahead to ignore their warning. Firefox no longer shows pictures for any website I go to. All graphics are gone. I tried using another browser and I am able to get pictures. I really like Firefox and want to be able to use it. This is for a pc.

About 10 days ago Firefox started to show only some pictures that should be on website--shopping sites or any other. After a few more day it now shows no pictures or graphics at all. It makes it almost impossible to use. I can see text, but it is rearranged on pages. Can't see buttons to click on etc.

Not sure from your example but it appears that the address doesn't have a full domain, i.e., the part between http:// and the next / is not a valid internet domain name, e.g.,
http://sometext-webproxy/
In that case, it's probably something running on your computer, either as part of your security software, or as a Firefox add-on, or malware.
A standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If you can access sites normally, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.

I have winXP pro on 3 machines all the same problem.
I can have the same window open in both programmes.
IE8 / IE7 shows pictures
FF4 says pictures not available

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
* Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
* Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.

* Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.

When I click on an emails label, Firefox opens it so I may read it. However, after successfully opening several such emails, the system will then stop doing so. Instead all it does is change the unread email's label from being 'bold' (indicating an unread email) to just normal (indicating the email has been read - even though it has not).

Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by 'email client'. I am running Firefox 12.
The system hangs at various random points. For instance, it will hang if I click to open an email; if I try to delete one; etc. It does this after I've been using Firefox for 15-30 minutes.
Now lately (in about the last week), it has not frozen on me. But I can't rule out that it won't again because it does not hang consistently every day.
As for trying it is Safe Mode, I could try that, but it may take at least 2 weeks of usage before I would feel comfortable giving you the results. Even at that, they would be questionable - simply because of the randomness of the problem.

TS2634 1st gen iPad has suddenly quit showing that it's charging. I found that if it's shut it down and plugged in for 12+ hours, it will charge, but when in use, the battery drains quickly. When connected to the Mac, it doesn't link with iTunes.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

Why has Firefox 3.6.28 for PPC suddenly stopped reading stylesheets?

Yesterday, Firefox 3.6.28 running on a PPC Mac OSX 10.5.8 stopped reading stylesheets. Displays pages without style attributes.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings and that you allow pages to choose their colors in Firefox.

Why does Firefox intermittently quit responding with MS Word 2002 open?

I've noticed when I have MS Word 2002 (sp-3) open, Firefox will start intermittently hanging. No error message. I've also noticed, I can go to the task bar and minimize it, and then immediately maximize the Firefox tab, and it start working for a little bit. Quite irritating in the middle of a password input, since you sometimes forget where you were. This started happening about 4 to 6 Firefox versions ago. What's interesting, with MS Excel open, it's not an issue. It also doesn't make a difference which one was launched first. Same problem, and it's a very short time between hangs, maybe 15 to 30 seconds. I close MS Word, and there's no Firefox issues. I cut and past paragraphs etc, into my Word Docs for future reference, and my PC library, since sometimes you come back to the weblink, and they are gone. Therefore, I like to have both open. My work around is to keep opening and closing Word. :-/
No other issues come to mind. I really prefer Firefox, but if I'm in Word for any length of time, I have to use one of my other 3 browsers, which have no issues with Word. IE, Chrome, and Opera.

I have a status bar on my desktop that shows processor and memory usage. The memory normally stays between 20% and upper 30 % range. Not sure that I've ever seen it above 50%. It's at 37% (of 8gb) right now with 5 IE tabs going, which I've had 15 or more open with no issues(in both IE and Firefox)...and Excel is open, and 3 Firefox windows are open, along with several other applications. I just launched Word, and the memory didn't change. I just closed it so I could continue typing. I hate replacing it, when it works fine, and I've had no issues other than this. Since it was working fine, until 4 to 6 Firefox versions ago, It has to be something different with that or one of the plug-ins possibly, although I think I went through deactivating all the plug-ins per a post I saw about a year ago. Wasn't the same issue though, but I thought it might help. It was a waste of time, so I reactivated a select handful. '''That's a lot of $$ to spend, especially if that's not the issue.''' Certain web sites suddeenly look like text instead of all the usual graphics, why has this suddenly happened

Several newspaper websites now download without the usual graphics and just text and also without some pictures, other sites are ok, and all sites are fine in Explorer. I have downloaded an update to Firefox but this has not solved the problem. I didn't make any changes that caused this problem. Note I tried to update my graphics driver but the last version I could find was 10.2 not 10.6 - see troubleshooting info.

Did you install some readability extension such as "Readability" or "Evernote Clearly" the point of them to remove unimportant columns to the left and right on blogs and just have the essential in a simpler format that is larger and easier to read -- most pictures would be removed along with advertising.
I didn't realize that I'd be able to see your extensions, and I don't see anything that looks like that among yours. The closest is the Browser Highlighter but that is disabled. You do have Skype which is listed as a [http://example.com problematic extension] and is reported to mess up rich text formatting and drop pictures.
