Why has my autocorrect volume become so loud, even with volume setting very low? Anyway to adjust?

Autocorrect volume is too loud; even with volume turned down,

Hi,
One thing can help is the following.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.  Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.  Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.  Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.
Regards,
DP-K

  • LG Cosmos 2 - volume is too loud even on lowest setting

Hi, I recently got the LG Cosmos 2 and so far I'm fairly pleased with it. The only thing that bothers me is that the volume is very loud even when I set it to the lowest setting. This applies to both the external speaker volume and the headphones volume when playing ringtones and music.
I'm just wondering if this is normal and if there is something I can do to lower it down even further.

I found a great solution this afternoon, but this will be of use only for ringtones that you've added to the phone because unfortunately most of the time the phone's own ringtones are locked due to either Verizon's rules and/or the rules of the phone manufacturer.
One of the ways of adjusting the volume is a program called Replay Gain. Perhaps analogous to the many versions of Linux, other software writers have implemented Replay Gain in different ways. Each implementation has differing advantages and disadvantages.
My interpretation is that these versions fall under one of two categories:
In the first category, the program writes the information about the volume change to either an APE tag or an ID3 tag, and the music player reads the information in the tag to determine what volume to use. The disadvantage is that this is not a universal solution because the music player used needs to be able to recognize these tags; otherwise, that tag information means nothing to that music player and the volume will be played at its original level.
The program I used today called MP3Gain falls in the second category. Programs in this second category alter the audio file, BUT they don't alter the audio in any way other than its volume; to keep this post shorter, see the next post for greater detail about this alteration. MP3Gain in addition writes information about the volume change and about what the original volume was in an APE tag if you wish to use MP3Gain to undo the volume change. If I did a poor job of summarizing that, there is a lot of great information out there about MP3Gain if you do a google search.
I downloaded MP3Gain from here (link). While some of the various implementations of Replay Gain can be used on more than one audio format, MP3Gain can be used only on MP3 files.
    step 1:
add the mp3 ringtones to MP3Gain and click the button "Track Analysis". The information that's important to us for our use is the number that is now in the column "Volume" which is a measurement in db. If the button says "Album Analysis", click the down arrow next to it and select "Track Analysis"
    step 2:
At the top where you see "Target 'Normal' Volume", enter the volume that you want the mp3 ringtone changed to. Personally, a value of 91 puts me in the ballpark. If that's not low enough or not high enough, then you can just repeat these steps and apply a different value.
    step 3:
Click the button "Track Gain" since I want my several mp3 ringtones to have an identical volume. If the button says "Album Gain" or "Constant Gain", click the down arrow next to it to select "Track Gain". MP3Gain's help file has excellent information about the difference between "Track Gain" and "Album Gain". I don't understand yet what "Constant Gain" is.
    Step 4:
    You're done.
I've read that older music players would not ignore the APE tag and would instead get confused by the presence of the APE tag and interpret it as audible noise. Our two models of Verizon non-smartphones don't seem to have any problems with the tags being left in. If by an unlikely chance either your phone or your music player plays the mp3 file with noise that wasn't there before, then you can turn off the use of the APE tag by choosing "Options" --> "Tags" --> "Ignore (do not read or write tags)". After turning this off you can still restore the volume to its original value if you had made a note of the original value when you clicked the "Track Analysis" button. Or just keep an unaltered backup copy of the mp3 ringtone.

  • Why has my network suddenly become unavailable to bluetooth?

why has my network suddenly become unavailable to bluetooth?

I'm not sure that I fully understand 'tethering' other than linking to a 'master'. Nor do I quite know how to answer what I was doing when connecting--I have been trying to connect for some 8 hours now, trying multiple ways around the problem. I guess my main problem is I don't actually understand the technical action underpinning a connection. So I try narrowing down the options and then restoring each action.
I have been trying to work out where the network failure exists--in my laptop or in my iphone. I have gone back through apps, and whether these were connected through iTunes or not.
I haven't tried connecting my phone to a printer or an iPod. I only mention them because my lap top is also failing now to pair with my iPod, and I wondered whether the fault is from my laptop's network connection, rather than my iphone's network connection.
My laptop  wireless connection with my printer has not been disturbed despite the network being unavailable. -- I only mentioned that as an indication that whatever the 'network' was that was unavailable, it was not the network connecting my laptop and printer.
I am grateful for your interest.

Yep, it does matter. You won't be able to update or get anything until this is fixed. Contact iTunes support to see what's wrong:

  • ITunes 10 upgrade makes airtunes volume too loud even at minimum setting

I just updated to iTunes 10 this morning and love the interface and most of what is has to offer. I have, however, encountered an issue with the volume when streaming my music through Airtunes (or Airplay now) and my Airport Express to external speakers. I have an Express set up in my son's room and hooked up to a pair of computer speakers via a stero-mini to stereo-mini. Before the update the volume adjustment worked fine but after updating to iTunes 10 even the minimum volume is too loud for the white noise we put on to help him sleep. If you have ever had a fussy infant you understand that this is a HUGE problem. I've read the forums and come up with nothing. I know that I can manually change the master volume of the sleep sounds (get info on specific track and change master volume) but that's a ridiculous work-around. I've resorted to using Airfoil (an excellent program by the way) because I can't get Airplay to work right. All of the setting are there for it to be a real hit (individual volume settings for each set of external speakers - I have 2 airport express units) but they just DON'T WORK. What a shame that after an update I have to resort to a 3rd party program. I hope Apple hears this and updates very soon or the folks at Airfoil are going to be getting a lot of business very soon. Next post is at Engadget and Mashable
cool. please let me know if you've found a setting that I don't know about.
    thx.

iTunes 10 allows each AirTunes (AirPlay) zone to have a separate volume. Try selecting "Multiple Speakers" in the "AirPlay" tab and adjust the volume from there. Also make sure the "Preferences" settings are set to allow for remote volume to be set.

  • Volume gain in Windows 7 64 bit is very loud even at lowest setting

Under Windows 7 64 bit, the volume is extremely high even at the lowest Windows volume setting (the one above mute).  It's hard to get lower volume sound; it either is loud or none at all.  Is this a driver issue?  Or is there a gain setting I can use to adjust this?
    Thanks.
    iMac 27"
    Core i7 2.8GHz
    8 GB RAM
Bootcamp running Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate

Thanks for the reply.  I actually played a little more with the settings after I posted, which seemed to solve this somewhat. (should have tried before posting I guess, but at least I can share this with others..)
The iMac 27" I have uses a Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 81) sound chip it seems.  The drivers are fine.  I went into the standard Windows sound mixer (right click on volume icon on task tray (lower right) then select Mixer).  In the Mixer, there is a Boot Camp Manager slider along with the Device / Speakers one.  They are normally linked; when you use the keyboard volume up / down buttons to change volume, they all go up and down in unison.
I found that, if  I set the Boot Camp Manager slider manually to a much lower setting than the others, the scale / gain is minimised.  Playing with this, I could get a more comfortable setting, not too loud any longer!

  • EE Harrier ringtone too quiet even with volume settings on max, any suggestions

I have recently upgraded to a EE harrier and a Harrier mini for my wife.On both phones the ringtones are very quiet even with the volume settings set on maximum. This is causing us to miss calls and messages as the ringtones are just too quiet.Ive tried ringtone booster apps but have yet to find one that works.Any suggestions ?

    Hi
    Welcome to the Community!
It might sound daft but have you tried a few of the different ringtones to see if any are louder?
How long have you had the devices for and where did you do the upgrades?
    Thanks.

  • Why has my iCloud id become my old email address from years ago. My apple id is my current one. How can I change my icloud one so it is the same?

My mum's iCloud username is coming up as her old email address frok years ago. She can't sign in as can't remember the password for it And has no access to the email address. I updated successfully her iTunes/Apple id years ago & is still up and running. How do I get rid of this iCloud id and make it her recent email. I'm confused why this has happened in the 1st place

With iOS 7 you will have to provide the password for the old ID in order to delete the existing account from your iPad.  If you can't do this, contact Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Produces & Services>Apple ID>iTunes Store, App Store or Mac App Store>Disabled Apple ID.
As far as your missing contacts, when you get the password for the old ID reset, sign in with the ID and your new password at icloud.com and check to see if your contacts are there.  If they are, export them as a vCard as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606.  You can then import this vCard to your new account as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605.

  • Why has my Mac mini become so slow?

I realise this sounds like the oldest newbie question in the book, and could be down to any of a hundred things, but I'll try and explain as clearly as possible. (I've been using Windows for 15+ years, Macs for the last 2+, and I always associated Windows with this kind of gradually increasing lethargy.)
In a word, it comes down to lag. Every operation which used to be instant when the Mac was new, now has a delay of anything from half a second to over 10 seconds. It feels like walking in mud. And it's always the first time I do something I haven't done for a few minutes -- if I repeat the same operation immediately afterwards, it's instant. Long delays are often (but not always) accompanied by the beachball -- which I see *a lot*.
What sort of operations? Well, dropping down a menu, for example. Or changing volume. (Using the keyboard or Apple remote.) Or switching between open apps. It's not unusual for me to wait over 10 seconds for the computer to respond, for something as simple as a volume change. If I repeat it, it's instant. But if I wait a few minutes, or switch to a different app, the lag's there again.
The mini is 2 years old. It's a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo with 512MB RAM, with wireless keyboard and mouse. About 2 months ago, I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, using the Archive & Erase method. It's permanently connected to an external 1TB firewire drive. I have MenuMeters installed, which rarely shows over 10% usage per CPU, including during the slowdowns. (If I'm ripping a DVD with Handbrake, it goes to 100%, so I'm not surprised if it's slightly unresponsive then.) In trying to speed things up, I've set MenuMeters to only display CPU, updating every 3 seconds, but it hasn't made a difference. I don't have a lot else installed on the mini -- it's mainly a media player. During a typical day it runs Firefox, Quicktime with Perian, DVD Player, Front Row, and iTunes. (iTunes is so sluggish I avoid using it when I can.) The only memory resident apps are Vine Server and Audioscrobbler.
Does this sound familiar? Any suggestions? I'll supply a System Profile file if that'll help.

Unlike most Windows PCs, Macs have always seemed to be a little fussy about RAM, so in the broadest sense, the answer to your question whether you can use any brand of RAM (compatible specs of course), is that no, you can't. Nor is it always possible to say what brands are suitable and which are not. Better, really, to buy RAM for Macs from suppliers who have a history of Mac support (thus are aware of compatibility issues) and who offer a lifetime, no quibble, warranty, such that if the RAM doesn't work, or fails in service later, it can be swapped out without any hassle or additional cost. Crucial.com (the link I provided previously) is one such.
As far as fitting it, it is always better to have an approved service provider do it in that if there are any problems, they can be held accountable, and if there is any warranty cover, they will not risk voiding it. Each will charge a different amount for this kind of work however, so it's worth shopping around for prices for upgrading RAM - including the cost of the service provider also providing the RAM, since some can source compatible modules at wholesale.

  • Why has my itunes software become incompatible?

In the past year, my itunes application has become incompatible with my Windows 7 software. When initiated, it reduces the display density setings on my laptop, and only returns to normal after closing itunes.
Please bear in mind, i do not understand anything too Techy, so please respond in simple language.

    Hi chilledphil999,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It's possible that the issue you're seeing is being caused by iTunes running in "compatibility mode."
See this article for step-by-step instructions on turning off compatibility mode:

  • Why has the Exchange now become a selling place?

I always frequented the Exchange since before 2000 and there used to be a lot of people who shared their work but over the last two years 99 percent of everything on here is for sale. Nobody shares anything anymore. It is very sad to what people have become. How money drives people to no end.
With that being said, what I would like to see is Adobe separate the people that sell their work from those that want to share theirs.
So if Adobe is reading this thread, please, please separate the two.
    Thank you.

The appearance of Windows 7 is drastically different than Windows XP. You can try looking in themes for something to make Firefox look more like it did on XP https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/complete-themes/

  • Why has my iPhoto Library become huge ?

Since I upgraded to iPhoto 11 the size of my library has tripled.
I have about 19,000 pics. Most are about a MB in size.
How could my library be 72 GB?
If I recall correctly it was about 20 GB before the upgrade.
    Thanks,  Eli

I did a standard upgrade from the previous version of iPhoto.
I ran a scan with Grand Perspective to get a better idea of the package contents of the iphoto library.
One of the things that stuck out was the iPod photo cache which is 16GB.

I just migrated from Win XP to Win 7 and my Firefox and Thunderbird are now a light blue color and Firefox is see through at the top. I would like to be able to change the color. This light blue/white is hard to watch. I'm running FireFox ver. 30 & Thunderrbird ver. 24.6.0.

  • Why has my iMac screen become so dark with Yosemite?

The monitor on my (early 2009) 24" iMac used to be overly bright.  I had to use Shades to darken it and make it tolerable.  Now, after installing Yosemite, it is way too dark and I have no way to make it brighter.  The Display brightness control is of little use.
    Any comments are most welcome.
    Thanks!

    Hi crazy,
The computer is in a room with a South facing window directly behind the computer monitor.  The shades are usually closed due to the contrast from the window.  I used the Mac app Shades for years to darken the monitor and it worked great.  However, as I mentioned earlier, when I upgraded to Yosemite, the screen screen brightness was reduced by at least one-half of what it formerly was.  I did upgrade Shades, but it is of no use now since its purpose was to darken the monitor.  Too bad it cannot brighten the monitor.
I am not certain exactly what you mean my your last statement.  Perhaps I answered it in my above comments.  Let my know if you need more info.
Here is the link to Shades for your perusal:  http://www.charcoaldesign.co.uk/shades
