Why has my iTunes gone back in time?

Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the right answer.
I loaded up my iTunes (windows Vista) that I have had for over 3 years. No new updates on iTunes or the PC and yet once it was open it was like it went back in time and loaded up all my songs, TV programs, films etc from about 2.5 years ago! Stuff that is not even on my PC (that I know of) anymore!
All new songs etc are not on iTunes at all. Very odd. I wont sync my iPhone now incase I lose all the newer stuff.
Any ideas or help?
Thanks

Restore the device using the most recent backup.
If you have not backed up the device recently, then there is nothing to restore.

  • HT1605 Where has sleep iPod gone from the timer menu?

Where has sleep iPod gone from the timer menu?

Hey, thank you very much for the clarification.
I just performed a quick test. If the iPod doesn't have any programs running it will indeed go to sleep after the "stop playing" timer ends. But if I'm playing music the "stop playing" timer will only stop playing the music when the timer ends, but will not actually put the iPod to sleep. Same goes for watching videos, the timer only stops playing the video but does not put the iPod to sleep.
The "sleep iPod" option, on the other hand, actually put the iPod to sleep when the timer ended.
The "stop playing" option only stops an app from playing media but does not put the iPod to sleep.
Why did Apple change the option from "sleep iPod" to "stop playing"?
How do I put my iPod to sleep now?
    Thanks!

  • Had to reinstall os ,and cannot access itunes although backed on time machine help

had to reinstall OS last july after exel update installed virus  and cannot access itunes although backed on time machine help

You should still be able to recover your media through iTune's "open" feature:
Connect your time machine drive and navigate to it in Finder.
Open the backup.backupd (or similar) folder.
    Pick a recent date (folder)
Pick through to your home folder
drag the music folder onto itunes in the dock
Hope this helps, It might not be very clear.

  • Why has my iTunes app frozen? The screen has been unresponsive for several days now.

Why has my iTunes app frozen?
To begin with I thought it was restrictions on the country I was visiting but since retraining home it has not recovered.
The app opens and the screen is animated, but there is no response to my touch on any part of the screen.

  • Why has PhotoShop CC switched back to Trial version?

I have an active CC subscription that has been working fine for some time now.
A couple of days ago, CC 'updated' PhotoShop.
I have just launched PhotoShop but a screen appears saying that it is the PhotoShop Trial.
I know that my subscription is still active because Adobe have just taken a payment.
If I click the button that says 'License This Software' I'm prompted for a serial number which I've never received.
Any ideas what I should do (other than cancelling payments to Adobe)?

First try logging out of the CC Desktop app using its Preferences / Accounts area, then reboot, then log back in to the CC Desktop app.
If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling and re-installing the Creative Cloud app, first, and then if that doesn’t work, Photoshop CC, from:
    https://creative.adobe.com/products
It’s not clear why a CC product would be asking for a serial number unless something is corrupted in the licensing objects on your computer and there is not an obvious way to reset those.  CC is licensed by logging into the CC Desktop app, but I think there is a serial number stored internally so they can track your specific license, so maybe that is no longer stored and so it’s asking for a new one.
Post your question over in the Adobe Creative Cloud forum.  There are Adobe Support people who seem to read and reply to messages over there when related to activation issues although I’m not sure how many of them are on during the weekend, and it seems like there are more of them late Sunday evening (US time) when its Monday morning in India:

  • Help--why has MacBook screen gone dark and how do I get it back?

I have a  MacBook (model 4,1  running OS 6.8).  I use the MacBook as my desktop computer in conjunction with a separate desktop monitor. Today, when I unplugged a USB hub from one of the ports (after carefully ejecting anything on the desktop that needed to be ejected before unplugging), the screen on the MacBook--not the separate monitor--suddenly went dark.  I thought it had gone to sleep or into screensaver mode, but noticed that the white light on the MacBook also wasn't showing.
The separate monitor display (on which I'm typing this message) seems fine.  I checked DIsplays/Arrangement in System Preferences, but both displays were detected in their usual arrangement, though I did notice that the working display has a white bar across the top but the MacBook display doesn't have one.  I clicked "Detect Displays," but that didn't change anything.
I then did a restart, and things seemed to go as usual:  the shutdown went okay and on restart, the white light went on on the MacBook and the monitor screen lit up normally.  However, the MacBook's screen is still dark and the white light is off.
Can anyone tell me why this happened and how to get my MacBook screen back?  I don't know whether unplugging the hub caused the problem or whether it was just a coincidence that something that runs the MacBook display happened to fail right then.  Would appreciate any help out there very much--thanks!
PS: Just tried shutting down and powering on again with the separate monitor unplugged, but the MacBook screen still stays black and the white light shuts off as soon as the desktop loads.  When I plugged the separate monitor back in, it worked fine.  So the problem doesn't seem to be a conflict with the separate monitor (which I've used for years).

Update:  I went away for an hour, and when I came back I saw that the white light had gone on as usual when the MacBook went to sleep.  When I touched the keyboard, both displays went on; however, the MacBook display went dark immediately and the white light is still out.

  • Why has my data stopped backing up on Time Machine?

The Time Machine has been working fine and backing up data regularly, but on December 28th it started saying that the backup disk was unavailable.

Where do you store your Backups? Do you store them on the USB Hard Drive connected to your Mac or on the Time Capsule? Or do you use different configuration?

  • IMac has gone back in time, deleting important files!

Hi, my iMac has sent many of its settings and files as they were months and months ago, and many other files have simply been erased completely, including all my school HSC files and my entire music collection.
more seriously is that although i have had a time machine back up set up for a long time now, it suddenly has deleted all recent up dates, with my earliest one being around april this year!
Has anyone had a similar problem lately? can any one offer some advice on what to do?
    thanks...

I'm not on Leopard, so I have no idea.
However, you might have more luck if you posted this question in the Time Machine forum. This one is for Keynote.

  • Why has 4.88 gone out of my bank to iTunes I have no record

Where do I go to ask questions about my I tunes account

You can see the purchase history on your account via your computer's iTunes : if you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases.
If there is something on it that you don't recognise then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (or if you can't find the item on your purchase history) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • My computer seems to have 'gone back in time'

Hi, am very confused by my mac. It's been timing out to the rainbow wheel when not in use, and sometimes freezing on start up, but problem been intermitant.
Then, one day last week when my kids were on the web it was asking for a flash update. I realised yesterday though that my computer has lost an entire set of files, all from a fixed period. I use my computer mainly for web surfing and music/photo/movie storage. First noticed when capturing movies from camera that the 2010 folder I usually save to had dissappeared. The 2009 folder has also gone. Further examination has shown that there are no pictures in iPhoto prior to an import on 22/02/09. In iTunes, the last ripped track is from 10/03/2009, and nothing from jan 2008 - feb 2009. Looking at the folders for each user, every main root folder is modified feb/march 2009 apart from Shared, which still contains MP3 folders that I copied recently eg sept 09 and late March 2010. Infact the only other files from 2010 I can find are the avi movies I downloaded and the Flash updTe I did a few days ago.
Any ideas where I should start? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks mark

Have you checked it with Disk Utility?
(Open Applications:Utilities:Disk Utility. The list on the left contains discs, with their partitions (volumes) indented under them. Click on the disc containing your boot partition (or click on the partition) and then click the “Verify Disk” button near the bottom right. You can not Repair the boot volume this way; you have to boot from your Apple CD, and run Disk Utility from there.)
If there is a problem here [and it is this that has caused the files to disappear, as opposed to it being a coincidence], I would expect that it was fairly bad; I would suggest that you back up all the files that you can see, before doing a repair.
Just out of curiosity: what does it say against “Format” (near the bottom left) when the boot partition is selected, please?
