Why has my Latency (Ping) increased from 20ms to 3...

Got BT Infinity installed (FINALLY, after over 12 months of them putting it off every 3 months) but this was due to a problem in our village I believe. Anyway, I am right at the end of my line and 5KM or so from my local exchange, I was only getting 2.3 meg max on ADSL and 0.8 meg upload, on BeThere (02) broadband. My pings averaged 18ms to BBC.co.uk (London/Local Servers).
Now, had infinity installed last Tuesday, and expected upload and download speeds according to Infinity of 42.1MB download and 6.5MB upload. Fastest speedtest yet was 48MB on speedtest.net and fastest upload was 6.7MB.
Now two questions:
1. A few days ago, I was receiving speeds on average of about 42-44MB in speedtests, now as of yesterday morning, this has dropped to around 38Meg. My Upload is about the same at 6.2meg.
2. THE MAIN QUESTION - Why has my Latency increased from about 20 (18-23ms on average) to 30?
Every speedtest I do now for the last 2 days, is coming back with a ping of 29-33ms which is a sudden increase of 10ms. I'd like to know what may have caused this, as I game and I know a better ping is crucial for gaming.
Can anyone shed some light here?

Well from that tracert you can see the increase isn't all down to interleaving, the first hop after the router is only 15ms, that's the interleaving, it's after this hop that the ping times increase to near 30, so in your case the ping increase is all down to how bt are routing your connection over their network.
Here's my tracert to the same website, routing is different for me and hence the better pings, also the lower interleaving depth on the second hop is also helping of course

Many thanks for your reply, I found Photomerge.jsx on the iMac, although I couldn't find a Presets/Scripts folder in the Application folder but a search found 4 copies of Photomerge.jsx.
I made a CD of them and inserted it into the MacBook Pro. I dropped a copy into my Applications folder but when I opened Photoshop CS4 and tried to use it - it wasn't available. I then dropped it into Photoshop and it works but when I close everything down and re-open Photoshop it is not there.
Had to leave the Photomerge.jsx file/folder on the desktop and re drop into photoshop to open to use???
Please help me further.

Awful ping (ranging from 20ms to 600ms)

Over the past few days while playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and various other games my ping has been fine at a steady 20 to 30 ms which is very good.
However now it randomly spikes up to 600ms (0.6 seconds) which is awful and unacceptable for online gaming of any sort?
How can this resolved?

Why has my game not transferred from my old 4s to 5s

My game I have been playing for a year has not transferred to my new 5s !. It is showing on game centre but on my new phn it has started from the beginning again

Why is a basic phone increasing from 9.99 to 30

I have 2 accounts with verizon. I have one and my husband has one. We wanted to combine the two accounts to try and save money. In total we have 3 smartphones, and 3 basic phones. The monthly service would be $300. That is crazy. They are telling me that that monthly charge for a basic phone is increasing from $9.99 to $30. Why can't verizon offer the deals that the other carriers do?

$300 is a little of an overestimate of what your bill "would" be.
As SuzyQ said, currently basic phones are $20/month, not $30.
3 x $40 for the smartphones = $120
3 x $20 for the basic phones = $60
2 x $25 discount on out of contract smartphones with a 10 GB or more data allowance = $50
$80/$100 for either 10 GB/15 GB data allowance
20% discount on data = $16/$20 for 10 GB/15 GB data allowance
Total = $194 for 3 basic/3 smartphones with 10 GB data allowance or $210 with 15 GB data allowance.
Of course taxes would be additional.
Keep in mind you have to manually add the out of contract discount manually for each out of contract line in the account owner's MyVerizon online account in the "Change Features" section.

Why has Apple moved Dock controls from the Apple menu?

So I took the plunge and installed Yosemite. And then hunted for the oh-so-simple control to move the dock from one location to another, as I connected my MBP to a monitor. But where's it gone!! No "Dock" in the Apple menu - panic!! Then I find it in preferences. But why oh why Apple? It was a mouse-hold and single click to move or resize the Dock; now it's Open Prefs, select the dock prefs, then select the position, size etc I want. That's 3 clicks, with lots of mouse movement, instead of one. And this is meant to be progress!
Why?
And can I revert to having this control in the Apple menu?

tbirdvet, surely that's an intrusive and irrelevant question! It's what I want to do, the system should allow me to do it quickly and easily, as it has done in the past.
But if you really must know, it's because sometimes I'm on my laptop, sometimes I'm on laptop + monitor and they look different, are differently configured and so on.

The keyboard is contextual, meaning it changes with intended use.
If you place the cursor in the address bar of the browser, you do not get a space bar since web addresses do not have spaces in them.

Why has all my music disappeared from my iphone 4S (iOS6)?

This morning on the train into work I was listening to a track as usual on my iPhone 4S (iOS6).
The track finished, so I used my Beats headphones to skip to the next track (as usual) and there was just a prolonged silence. On taking my phone out of my pocket I then saw that all my music content had disappeared! When I go into the Music app it simply displays 'No Content'.
As I am not at home, I cannot re-sync.
I want to know how on earth Apple can be releasing an update that causes so much hassle?
Can anyone help & explain why the above has happened?

iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod (and that is by design). You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links. (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library. After confirming everything is there, you can then sync your iPod to that iTunes library.

Why has the lyrics tab disappeared from songs' "Get Info" menu?

I got a new laptop today with Windows 7, and downloaded the most recent version of iTunes. I am keeping all my music files on an external hard drive, but have dragged all of them into my iTunes library. This is how I've done it before and have never had any problems. Now, for all of the songs that didn't have lyrics in the first place, the lyrics tab has completely disappeared, and all of the adjustable fields in the other tabs are greyed out and uneditable. Does anyone know what I've done wrong, and how this can be fixed, please?

Its because your table code is broken. I had a job this morning wading through it so I eventually selected just the from part - <form> </form> - which I believe is intact and dumped it in another DW file.
If you can't find the broken or missing tag/s can I suggest you do this and rebuild the outer table.

Why has my safari icon disappeared from the applications bar after the recent software update?

Everything was working perfectly until I uploaded the most recent software update. When I restarted my laptop I found that the Safari icon had disappeared from my applications bar. If I go to my 'recent places' and click on Safari it then reappears but only until I close the laptop down as the next time I start it up, it's nowhere to be seen. Can anyone help?

by applications bar you mean "dock"? After you click on recent places and start safari it will reappear in the dock and at this point you will want to control + click (right click) on the SAFARI icon and hover to options, make sure that "KEEP IN DOCK" has a check mark next to it. If it does not, click that option. Now it will keep the Safari Icon in your dock.

Why has "get more episodes" disappeared from the Music App in iOS5

Since I upgrade to iOS5 I have noticed 2 "downsides" to the "iPod" replacement app "Music".
Firstly the "get more episodes" has disappearwed from the podcast pages as has the symbols as to which track is playing or is unplayed.
Apple please may we have these facilities back?

I don't care for the changes to "music", formerly "ipod", app either. Even the icon color is a bit much compared to the old ipod icon.
I really miss the "get more episodes" and hope it will be back soon. It is a good feature, and one I used every day.
The format is harder to work with.
If one podcast is playing or loaded and paused, I don't seem to be able to activate a different podcast.
All but one or two of the podcast icons just show music note instead of podcast picture.
Button to switch back to list of podcast episodes seems to be gone as well.
Missing the played/unplayed as well.
There is no 30 second replay button on the broadcast as far as I can tell.
I seem to be getting all episodes listed on a podcast page, but not all of them are even loaded.
IOS5 didn't really improve the podcast format/experience, but has made it less user-friendly. IMO

Well, the AirPort Express cannot "boost", or "extend", or "repeat" the wireless signal from a Sky router by using wireless only, so you may want to have conversation with the salesman.
The AirPort Express can only "extend" a wireless network if you have another Apple router providing the network.
