Why has sending email in snow leopard stopped working

mail on my older intel mac machines cannot send mail. Asking the "geniuses" at apple store hasnt helped. It worked once to delete account and re add. I am using mac.com. .me.com. I have to go to icloud to send mail. .PIMA.
Whats up apple? Can someone help? This is a problem on both a desktop IMAC and a MacBook, both white plastic varieties. Both are fully updated to snow leopard.

Question 2, yes I think so (joking) Go to mail preferences and make sure that your outgoing mail server (SMTP) is set to the correct address (server), not none.

I downloaded Lion yesterday. What a nightmare.
Before even using it, I noticed several of my programs would not work with Lion.
My Appleworks 6 program was dead as well as some other programs that I had been using for yrs. I have a dual core iMac.
If I wanted to open any of my Applework documents I had to open them one at a time and resave them with pages. This could take weeks.I have 1000s of apple work documents.
This was only the tip of the iceberg.
I needed to do some scanning for a client. Well, low and behold my Silverfast scanning software for my Microtek 9800XL would not work.
I went to the SilverFast web page looking for a download to fix this. No such luck. If I wanted to use my scanner with Lion, I would have to purchase a newer version for $450.00.
Then I went to the Microtek web page, nothing there. I called Microtek and they said they were working on the problem but couldn't tell me it would be available.
I called Apple customer support. The person I spoke with, Scott, was able to help me. The solution. I will get a refund doe Lion and for $16.00 they are going to send me Snow Leopard on a disk. Problem here is I have to reformat my drive. I have a full back up with Time MAchine, but he wasn't sure if I would lose some of my programs when this was done.
Am I dealing with Microsoft? This was a BIG surprise to me that Apple would release an OS without testing all programs.
Given my love of Apple products, I own a lot of Apple stock bought it when it was $45.00,This new OS is a real disaster.
If you are going to use Lion, I would be careful and call Apple first before downloading.
I also asked Scot what would happen if my computer crashed and I had no disk to reinstall. He said some Apple stores are selling Lion on a flash drive.
I believe this is one way for Apple to make ore profits at the cost of the consumer. Apple has more cash on hand then the US government.
I never expected Apple to do something like this. This is something Microsoft would do as they alwasy seem to rush their new OS without fully testing it.

You don't have to open and re-save every AppleWorks document you have right now. Just wait till you need one, then do it. The documents aren't going anywhere.

Frankly, it is not Apple's responsibility to ensure compatibiltiy with every piece of software available for OS X. That is the responsibility of the software vendor. Lion has been available to developers for several months before it's release, so Microtek had plenty of time to update their software. Yet they did not. How is that Apple's fault? I think Apple was very generous to give you a refund for Lion.
I'm not trying to belittle your frustration but I do think your ire is misplaced.

Thank you for the additional information,
When you distribute your form, did you select "Copy Link" and then pasted in the email or did you select "Email Link" and your email client automatically launched with the form url in the body of the email?
You may want to check (if you are using MS Outlook/Exchange) the email format you have selected: HTML, Plain Text, Rich Text. Please check with your IT about this setting.
Also, if you were to copy another link, for example, http://www.adobe.com in your email, would it still highlight as a link or plain text?

So why can't I get snow leopard to work?

early 2008 mac pro.
32 GB ram test fine.
1.5 TB drive runs leopard-no problems.
have installed snow leopard on a blank drive and after about 4 hours, i get the black box shutdown error message. cloned existing drive into a new hitachi drive, shuts down after about 4 hours.
thought it might be the APC, replaced it, still shutting down. (got APC beeping on start up and overuse)
the only hardware remaining is video card: ATI Radeon HD 2600
is there some software conflict that can cause this issue? it shuts down regarless of multiple programs running or none.
have had the problem since i bought the snow leopard disk last summer, but snow leopard would not install on any of my existing hard drives, so replaced drives to accommodate the OS. running out of options.

Sorry about the problems you are having. You and I have the same system except the video card, therefore I can say with certainty that you should be able to run OS 10.6.4 at least.
I have not been able to get OS 10.6.5 to work at all though. The system hangs at the grey apple load screen for me every time. I have been in contact with Apple, who says no one else is having problems running this OS on our systems. They also advocate erasing and reformatting the hard drive and installing the OS. I am not certain how that would be different from installing it on a brand new hard drive, fresh out of the box, as wehave both tried without success.
I have one suggestion for you that I have not had time to try yet myself. Try removing all but one hard drive from the case (make sure the one remaining is in the first bay). Then try installing the OS and see if it works. This suggestion worked for me when I was trying, unsuccessfully, to install Boot Camp on a drive and it worked.
Maybe our model does not like certain system changes with multiple hard drives installed. Maybe I just trying to find a solution. Either way, best of luck! Hope you get things to work.

The matter isn't closed for others coming to this thread looking for an answer. Repairing permisions is much easier than a reinstall. It worked for me.

Problem: I can receive texts in USA but not send texts anymore! And people can no longer phone me from the UK in the USA.
Does three think my phone has been stolen or what? I have not told them I would be going overseas over the weekend.

Contact 3 asap you may have been frozen because of inadvertant excessive
data use or more.
All you can eat does NOT apply overseas
AND if you did not enable roaming they will certainly believe your iPhone has been stolen
and taken out of the country

I received a £25 iTunes gift card for my birthday in November and I reddemed it on my iPod touch. I had purchased a film for £6 shortly after Christmas using it and then I decided to wait for the new Disney film Frozen to come out so that I could use the remaining money on it to buy it. However, when it came out at the end of March, I tried buying it but then I saw that the gift card had been taken off my account. Usually it showed that I still had it in the iTunes store at the 'Redeem' section but it didn't have any signs of ever being there. I tried re-redeeming it but it just said that that gift card had already been redeemed.
The only purchase since I reddemed at first was that film I mentioned earlier. I understand that gift cards only expire 2 years after they have been activated so I have no idea what has happened. It's a great pity to lose all the money that was still on it and I really wanted to get that film!
Could someone please help me understand what is going on and if I can still get it to work again???!!!!!

Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the iMac is not recognizing an ethernet connection. What is it connecting to? I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Open "Java Preferences" either from spotlight or your utilities folder...it's probably going to say you need to install a java runtime. Then just click install!

Why Can't I install Snow Leopard on an external HD

I am currently running 10.7.1 on my MacBook Pro which I have had for a week or two lees than 12 months.
Firstly, why I want a bootable Snow Leopard HD doesn't matter.
Secondly, the Snow Leopard Install Disc is 10.6.3. The external HD is a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Partitioned GUID HD.
When I inserted the SL Install Disc I received the following rebuke.
Tried a Leopard Install disc, Same thing.
Tried the Snow Leopard Install disc that came with the computer, Same thing.
Consulted the local Apple expert and she brought her SL bootable HD around and it booted okay.
I was able to get her to install a bootable copy of SL on 2 of my old HDs and they booted from her computer without problems. I don't know what model her computer was. When I connect either of the HDs using FW 800, Startup Manager admits that it exists. When I selected it as my boot disc all that happens is a hanging Apple and no sign of a gear, rotating or otherwise.
I have tried various remedies, connecting with USB instead of FW, sacrificing one of my newer backup discs (I have 4) and cloning onto one of them, and swearing a lot.
Everything I have tried has been a failure.
Any suggestions? I am assuming it must be something to do with my computer because the same discs boot from my friends' computer. Of course that does not explain why her HD boots okay. The fact that the disc that came with the computer won't boot is a worrying conundrum.

I have a Mac that originally came with 10.5, then upgraded to 10.6 with 10.6.3 retail disk then to 10.7 online.
I was able to BOOTCAMP partition, change the BOOTCAMP partition from MSDOS to HFS+ journaled and renamed Snow Leopard.
I was able to hold c and boot off the 10.6.3 installer disk and install 10.6.3 into the Snow Leopard Partition. The computer booted and worked fine in either OS.
I was also even able to erase the whole drive from a Lion boot DVD...

In all times I was able to boot off the 10.6.3 install disk, even with Lion installed. But Lion's Disk Utility had to format the entire drive to update the partition map first to update it.
The only thing I can think of is your disk is dirty enough or has a flaw small enough that her machine doesn't catch it and yours does. Since she booted fine off the disk and you didn't, despite both having Lion right?
You can clean and polish the bottom of the disk with a very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol.
You can also create a new bootable OS X 10.6 installer disk following these directions, it might cure the bad spot with error checking that occurs.

I want to upgrade to lion (actually I don't, but I will lose my mobile me email account if I dont) but I don't know why I can't still run snow leapord through vmfusion. There are still several non lion compatible apps I need to use!!!!

You don't have to lose the email account. Just migrate it to iCloud, and tell it you have Lion installed even if you don't. You can still use your email through Snow Leopard.

How can I delete the Auto-Fill Cache For My Email in Snow Leopard?

When I start to type an email in Snow Leopards Mail program I am getting the Auto-Fill selection but it contains email addresses that are no longer valid and have been deleted from my contacts. It must be getting the information from a cache file is what I am guessing.
How do I fix this?

Look in Mail > Windows > Previous Recipients.
