  • HT5470 How can I get the driver for my new ipod nano 7th gen for windows vista?

Recently  purchased a Nano 7 to replace my 3rd generation struggling to connect to my windows vista laptop and Im looking for the driver, can anyone help?

The driver you need to connect your device to Windows is installed during the iTunes installation. So if you already have iTunes installed, verify if it is updated. If it's not, then update, If it is already updated download a new .exe file from the Apple page, and reinstall it:

  • So I have my ipad in Holland(I'm from the US). There is no wifi here but I thought I could upload my fotos via charge cable. Well I plugged it in and the PC here recognized it as an ipad but said there were no new fotos(not true) to import. ???

It also reads Not Charging on my ipad although it's plugged in. I'm not sure what to do. There is no itunes on their computer and the only program it offered me to import fotos was Windows. I have pulled fotos from my ipad to my own PC at home before without issue using Microsoft Scanner Wizard(?). How do I go about this so I can upload my pics?

Also, the 'not charging' is normal. Most USB's simply don't put out enough power to satisfy the iPad. It will trickle charge but will continue to say 'not charging'.
On their computer double click on 'my computer' then you should see your iPad listed under that panel. DOuble click on that, and work your way to the DCIM folder. In it should be a lot of smaller folders, which will have your photos. After that you can simply drag them from your ipad to their computer.

  • HT5479 My brand new ipod nano is no longer connedting to my brand new jbl wireless speaker. It worked fine the first day and now either cannot find the apeaker or the connection "fails."  Any advice?

I bought my dad a new ipod nano and a jbl wireless speaker from the same apple store. Everything worked perfectly with the bluetooth connectivity the first day. Then my dad accidentally hit the "forget this device" button when he was trying to turn the bluetooth off. Now the nano either does not recognize the device or it will recognize the device but not connect. I would appreciate any advice.

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
    If so:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can't see brand new iPod Nano in Windows!!!

I just bought a brand new iPod Nano (2nd Gen) for my daughter for Christmas, and right out of the box it would not be recognized by Windows XP or iTunes -- even though another iPod Nano (1st Gen) that we own did connect. It was charging though.
I used this forum looking for answers and although helpful, there was an awful lot of misleading advice. I finally called the help line 1-800-275-2273 on this website http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
What I was told was to simply go through the reset process (which I had ignored because it seemed too simple). The steps are to flip the hold button a couple of times and then hold the menu and select (center) button down at the same time for 10 seconds. The iPod will power back up and be reset.
What this tells me is that Apple has a problem with the software originally loaded on these iPods, but at least this simple procedure solved the problem. I thought I would come back here and provide you with the solution to this problem -- hopefully saving you a lot of time! Good luck!!

I agree with you, Apple to me has some type of problem with their iPods. I've used some type of computer device since 1971, and in all this time, I have never used a device such as the iPod with so many quirks.
I tell you one thing the iPod makes you think!!! O;-D
I'm afraid to buy Apple Care because during the 1st year of owning an iPod you get support that really is not much help. Within the 1st year of owning an iPod, a customer can purchase the Apple Care Plan. The Apple Care Plan is only 2 years, and then you are on your own. If Apple had confidence in their iPod's, they would offer a longer warranty period.
The only thing I see Apple Care is good for is that if something catastrophic happen, they will pay for shipping and any parts that are needed to fix it.
Their stock is doing great. Where is the money going???

  • Help! Computer arbitrary shuts off since installing new iPod Nano!

I got an error message when I installed my new iPod nano (sadly I didn't think to write it down so now I don't know what it said) but ever since then my computer just shuts off. iTunes doesn't have to be open for it to happen... It's even shut off in the middle of shutting down! I've tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling but my computer still seems to have a mind of its own. I don't have the slightest clue how to "uninstall" my ipod and I think ITS the problem. Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated! I'm so frustrated!

ever since then my computer just shuts off.
Are you getting any sort of blue screen prior to the PC rebooting? If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)
Here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
If you're not seeing a blue screen (or if you’re just seeing a flash of a blue screen before the PC reboots), we can use the following technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?

  • Can any one advise me if the new ipod nano 7th gen has a sleep timer on it?

I have just be giving a new style Ipod Nano 7th gen for christmas and wanted to know if it has the facility of playing music and setting up a sleep timer alarm so that it switches itself off after either 30min or 60mins?
I have had an ipod nano 4th gen for about 4 years and it has this sleep timer facility on it which i absolutely love and use every night.
So can anyone advise me on this and if it does still have this facility on the newer model that would be great and how i would go about setting it up on my new ipod nano 7th Generation.

Thank you Chamar for replying to me, i will have a look at printing of the full manual and having a proper read throught it.
Happy New Year to you all.

  • My new ipod nano plays videos but there is no sound, why?

My new iPod nano that plays videos has no sound going along with them. It's not a problem with the iPod, (I don't think) because the sound won't play on iTunes either, yet my music in playing just fine both on my ipod nano and in itunes. I dragged and dropped the video into itunes then I converted the video then used the convert selection for ipod. Why is there no sound? Is there something I am doing wrong? My 30gb ipod did worked just fine when I did it that way but my new ipod nano won't. Is there something else I have to do before I can watch and listen to videos?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Becca

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

  • Why won't my new iPod nano work with griffin itrip?

I just receiveed a new ipod nano as part of the replacement programme, but it will not work with my griffin itrip or my old speakers even though the connection is the same - anyone know why?
    thanks

I used an iTrip with my old Classic 160, but when I got my 6th gen nano, it wouldn't work either. My iTrip was old, and the connector had lost it's plastic bits, so I thought that might be the reason. I could still use my Logitech speaker dock, so I don't think they changed the connector.

  • Will the new iPod Nano fit in my speakers?

I recently bought an Intempo RDI Speaker for my iPod Classic. It's last years iPod Classic (80GB). I was wondering whether the new iPod Nano (4th Gen) would work in my new speaker. Because i don't want to spend more money updating my speaker which i have just bought. I'm hoping the iPod Nano has the normal dock thing so it will fit.

It has a dock connector so it should play music fine. But the new iPods only charge on 5 volts (the older ones could charge on 5 or 12). If your speakers charge with 12 volts they will not charge the new iPods.
A lot of devices charge at 12 volts (even Apples own Hi-Fi) but most companies seem to be keeping this secret, if you are lucky there will be an FAQ on the company website that will tell you if it's compatible with the iPhone G3 (the first 5v only device).

  • Some Feedback on the New iPod Nano

    Hey!
I really would like to get the new ipod Nano. I have never had an iPod before. I have been reading a lot of websites, forum posts here and MacRumors, iLounge, Cnet, as many places on the web as I could find that seemed to have credible info on the new iPods. I think the Touch is too difficult for my non-techie brain to handle and the shuffle does not have the FM Tuner. I read some good things about the Nano, mostly from exercisers, which is why I am buying it. But, I read more negative posts about the iPod Nano from people calling it a major mistake, a waste of money, etc. So after reading all the negative stuff about it I wanted to find out if this stuff is true, just due to the new Nano being so different then the previous Nano or what.
There seemed to be a lot of people bringing them back since they could not turn it off, but in my research it appears the Nano does not "turn off" per se but if done right it will sleep and not use hardly any battery power. There has been some complaints about the ear phone jack not inserting tight enough so it moves around and causes some crackling noise when using the ear phones. I would be getting some higher-end ear phones, but not sure if that would help or affect the antenna component that is in the ear phone cord of the Apple ear phones that come with the Nano.
I read some good things about it too. I was disappointed when I read that you can't sort the music into certain genre tunes or various exercise music according to beats per min once it is transferred to the Nano. I have no idea if this is true, what is true but really is not a big deal for a person using it for exercise.
I read from a lot of posts that this was a big mistake on Apple's part. I listened to the Nano at the Apple Store, it sounded OK to me. I have not seen any cases for it to keep the sweat off of it and when I do exercise, especially run and bike, I sweat like a pig--oh, pigs do not sweat.
Any feedback about all of these kinds of rumors or facts? Anybody care to share with me with their experience? Any opinions on the ear phone that come with the Nano or the Apple in the ear phones. Also, is it necessary to get the USB (white) charge adapter the iPhone uses for this ipod? I hear it can be plugged into the computer but if it sleeps it does not charge it. I have no idea how long it takes for an empty battery to fully charge.
I was also wondering what the 30 pin adaptor or the adaptor that comes with the Nano, is for. Is that to hook up to a dock?
Thanks for any opinions, thoughts, suggestions that anybody wants to share with me.

Feedback from individuals is neither rumor nor fact. It's just their opinion. How much credence to give the opinions of people you don't know is always a challenging question. I tend to give less to people who sound like their whining or who obviously have unrealistic expectaions or didn't do their research or won't even try to troubleshoot issues. People who sound reasonable, who give a balanced evaluation (i.e. NOT "This Nano is the worst thing Apple ever made!!!"), I'll pay more attention to.
I have one. I like it. Because of the cold weather and busy season at work, I haven't done much running in the last month. My Nano has been sitting, asleep on my nightstand. Hardly any battery drain. Yes, most computers wont' charge through the USB port if they are asleep. I use mine often enough that I don't have any problem charging my Nano.
Can't answer your questions about sorting by genre as I never do that and I don't have the Nano here with me to look at it. I make playlists based on BPM on my computer. This works for me.
I replace my 3rd gen Shuffle with this Nano. I liked the size of the Shuffle but was never happy with not having a screen. I'd always end up unable to find what I wanted to listen to. With the Nano, I have the benefits of the size, the clip but I can easily find what I want.
In my personal opinion all the headsets Apple ships with iPods are horrible. They are uncomfortable and won't stay in my ears. I throw them away. I have a pair of Etymotic ER6i's that I love. They are in canal, passive noise cancelling headsets that are not that expensive. The fit me. I can sleep in them. They don't fall out when running. There are lots of opinions on headsets.
I sweat a lot when I run. I just don't clip the Nano inside my clothes. Or where sweat from my face would drip on it.
So, I think the Nano works very well for the type of exercise I do. I've been very satisfied.

  • My itunes won't recognise any of the music that is already stored on my computer or let me sync anything to my new ipod nano!! any ideas??

I recently bought a new ipod nano and when i got it home and connected it to my computer I was told my version of i-tunes was not compatable and I had to un-install it and then download it again.  After I did this 4 times i eventually managed to get itunes to open on my computer and recognise my new ipod.  However after all that hassle my version of itunes now wont recognise any of the music that has already been downloaded onto my computers music files.  I have tried copying the music across and also using the add music to the itunes library command and nothing seems to work!  I really like the ipod but if i had known that itunes was this difficult to work i would have picked a different type of music player!  since i have bought the ipod ive heard nothing but bad things about how difficult and complicated itunes is to work so if anyone has any ideas for how i can fix this problem thatd be great! Thanks
