Why have I begun I receiving so many unresponsive script messages with firefox?

In the last 3 months I have begun receiving unresponsive script notices all the time.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Is it possible to have Thunderbird send an e-mail automatically when a message with a specific subject is received?
I basically want to create a rule that will send an automatically crafted form e-mail to the sender when I receive an e-mail with the subject line "New Swimmer". Is this possible?

Thank you Todd, I was able to get it to work but I do have a few more questions...
    1) When I tested this, at the top of the message, before any of the text I created, this showed up: This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------040406040801080102080500 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
    2) After the signature line, this showed up: --------------040406040801080102080500 Content-Type: image/jpeg Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-ID: /9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAYABgAAD/4QAiRXhpZgAATU0AKgAAAAgAAQESAAMAAAABAAEAAAAA AAD/2wBDAAIBAQIBAQICAgICAgICAwUDAwMDAwYEBAMFBwYHBwcGBwcICQsJCAgKCAcHCg0K CgsMDAwMBwkODw0MDgsMDAz/2wBDAQICAgMDAwYDAwYMCAcIDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwM DAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAz/wAARCAC5ApUDASIAAhEBAxEB/8QA HwAAAQUBAQEBAQEAAAAAAAAAAAECAwQFBgcICQoL/8QAtRAAAgEDAwIEAwUFBAQAAAF9AQID AAQRBRIhMUEGE1FhByJxFDKBkaEII0KxwRVS0fAkM2JyggkKFhcYGRolJicoKSo0NTY3ODk6 Q0RFRkdISUpTVFVWV1hZWmNkZWZnaGlqc3R1dnd4eXqDhIWGh4iJipKTlJWWl5iZmqKjpKWm p6ipqrKztLW2t7i5usLDxMXGx8jJytLT1NXW19jZ2uHi4+Tl5ufo6erx8vP09fb3+Pn6/
(It was actually much longer than that)
Is there anyway that I can get that to go away? I obviously would prefer a nice, cleanly formatted e-mail to be sent just like I would send if I were creating it on the spot.
    Thanks,
    Evan

  • Who wrote the software that creates unresponsive script messages and why did they do it?

A few years ago I switched from IE5 to Mozilla Firefox because people recommended it. At first it was great. But gradually, more and more I get the Unresponsive Script message. I am running Windows XP with Norton security.
I have not added any other software since I switched to Firefox, apart from switching from Dialup to Broadband.. It does not matter if I click on 'Stop' or 'continue'. I have Firefox set up to automatically update. Invariably the error message is about a script that starts with'a.gfx' or something similar. I do not want this, did not ask for it, have not changed my habits or the types of websites i visit. I do not expect to have to become technically competent at removing software, because this was not a problem before I switched to Firefox and it ran fine to start with. Now Mozilla seems slow to start is another message I get . The problem seems to be Firefox not anything I have done. I want a browser that does not give me problems. Before I take my laptop to a computer shop, I would like to know why it was not a problem before and why Firefox has done this to me. If I have to buy a new computer withourt a proper explanation, I will not use firefox in future and I will tell people that Mozilla could not solve my problems. The least you could do is to (a) give me a thorough explanation and (b) send me an update that will fix all this.

"gfx" often refers to the features of Firefox that interact most closely with your graphics card software. As this can change over time, it is possible that Firefox has become incompatible with your old graphic card drivers, or that it is incompatible with the new drivers.
The standard workaround for this is to disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics. There is a checkbox for this:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
That will take effect the next time you start Firefox.
More generally, it would be helpful to get more of the error message. You could grab a screenshot when you see it, and save those to see whether there is a pattern. This article has tips on screenshots: [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]]

  • Why can't i open an attached document (most often pps) with firefox when i can with internet explorer?

why can't i open an attached document (most often pps) with firefox when i can with internet explorer?

Perhaps if you change your setting here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Applications tab
In the search box, type '''power''' and then pause until the list is filtered. If you have these, try changing the action to "Always Ask":
    Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation<br>
    Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Show
It's possible that if you don't have Microsoft Office installed, you might not have those listed.

  • Crappy terrible Firefox 6.0.2 causes many unresponsive script problems

Firefox 6.0.2 is lousy upgrade? since it causes many unresponsive script problems

Yes, 6.02 on Windows 7 is very unstable and buggy.
    Unusable now, moving to Chrome.

  • Since upgrading to 3.6.3, I have 3 problems: frequent crashes, frequent "unresponsive script" messages, and frequent pop-ups, even with pop-up blocker turned on.

Crashes are pretty random - can't link them to any particular site or action. The unresponsive script messages mostly come from e-mail sites (yahoo, gmail). Pop-ups are frequent and annoying, and may be causing some of the crashes.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I upgraded to version 3.6.3

I have the same problem and it's really frustating - although my main browser is Google Chrome, I use Firefox for all the RSS feeds that I subscribe to and sites that only have Firefox plug-ins. Will Mozilla FIrefox get this fixed with a newer version soon?

Hi,since my update to OSX Yosemite,I have problems opening DW and AI CS6. A message with update to old Java SE-6 is displayed?Thx

You need to install Java SE 6 to run those programs. There has been quite a bit of discussion here about that. Something at one of these links should get you going...

  • Why have mac OS 10.5.8 printer settings been restricted in Firefox

When I call for a printing of a page in Firefox, my Epson NX420 will no longer allow plain paper as a media option in printer settings, but only photo and presentation papers; and it allows only the Best Photo option under Print Quality. In both cases, other options are grayed out. Gray Scale is also grayed out.
Why have the grayed-out options become unavailable in Firefox (but not, e.g., in Chrome)? How can I restore them?

Try updating to the latest 23.0.1 version of Firefox, and see how it is.

  • Why do people sometimes only receive part of my text message

I'm wondering if anyone has a solution for this issue?? It happens with several different contacts of mine. I send them a text message of varying sizes and sometimes they only get part of it. I've asked my carrier for support but it isn't a carrier issue. Any ideas please?

SMS messages are limited to 160 characters. If you type more than that, the message is split into multiple messages. If the receiver is using an iPhone or some other smartphones, the message is re-assembled on the receiving side from the multiple messages received from the carrier.
If the receiver is not getting the entire message, the problem is with your carrier, their carrier, or the interchange between the two. You should both contact your carriers and report the problem.

  • Why i get this "Unresponsive script" message

Another problem with the Firefox browser which shows the following message. " A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
The following message, causing Firefox to be stuck and freezes, as is evident in the tab bar of Firefox.
And I try to close some of the tab bar but is still unable to respond which means that I have to wait to be able to browse again.

This sort of message can have many causes, and is often due to a problem site or problem add-on.
    * do you only get the message on specific sites, or when doing certain tasks ?
*What is the actual message, is it the same each time ?
    * to see if the problem relates to additional software try Firefox in safe mode
** see [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] <br/> on XP use Help -> restart with add-ons disabled <br/> do not make changes in the first window with check box options, just click on continue.

Hi... I am running a dual core, Win7 64bit PC, with Firefox Regular and Nightly on it... I also have 32bit Win XP Virtual PC on the same PC with Regular Firefox... How do I sync all of them to give me the same bookmarks, history, cookies and passwords ???

I assume that you have separate Profiles for the Release and Nightly installations.

Add each Firefox Profile to your Sync account as a '''new device'''. <br />

  • When using Firefox I receive a "Warning:Unresponsive script" error. How do I fix this?

I recently updated to Mac OSX 10.6.6. I use Firefox 3.6.15.
This script happens every time I try to update my que. I called Netflix, and they had me try Safari, and the problem did not happen with Safari.
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
    Script: file:///Users/aimh441/Library/Application%20Support/Firefox/Profiles/0sb81q3g.default/extensions/%7Bb58ca710-f62c-4f38-a0e8-cc9b177463e5%7D/files/ui/scripts/lib/prototype.js:9

Do you see an extension that you have in that error, perhaps if you type '''about:support''' then use Find for '''b58ca710-f62c-4f38-a0e8-cc9b177463e5''' you might see an extension for that as it looks like a GUID number.

  • Why did 5.0 update incapacitate my computer, "unresponsive script" etc?

As soon as I received the FF 5.0 update it wouldn't work. It takes 5 minutes to start and begins with "Warning Unresponsive Script: chrome://tavgp/content/libs/include.js595" I choose continue, wait 5 more minutes for my home page, if I'm lucky, or FF. not responding. When I place the cursor on the FF. icon it says, Moz. FF. 4.0 Beta 7. From the start menu, All programs it says Moz. FF.4.0 Beta 10. In system info it shows FF. 5.0 Beta 20110517192056 Security Update Installed: Fri. May 27, 2011 11:15:17 AM Please help me!

That error indicates that the AVG toolbar is not compatible with Firefox 5 beta. You can disable the toolbar using the add-ons manager and the errors should stop.
To disable the toolbar, open the add-ons manger and go to the Extensions section. In the list of extensions click on the AVG toolbar, then click the disable button.

  • Lately, when I get the "Unresponsive Script" message, Neither the cancel nor the complete script button will work and Firefox hangs so I have to Force Quit Firefox. What is wrong?

Here is the link below the message about the unresponsive script:
    Script: chrome://browser/content/tabbrowser.xml:554
Neither of the buttons will work "Stop Script" or "Continue" and since Firefox is frozen or just hanging, I have to Force Quit. Today I was trying to print off a confirmation for a convention and every time I was ready to print, the Unresponsive Script would show up and freeze the printing too. After 4 times, I finally made a Grab Shot of it to print.

ive also repaired disk permissions using disk utility and disk warrior.
