Why have my iCal events been deleted?

I checked my calendar yesterday and the Dec entries had been deleted.

I'm having a similar problem and also haven't been able to find anything helpful on the Apple site. Today the last two texts from/to every contact were deleted from my phone. A couple have now come back, but the wrong way round (i.e. I sent it but it shows up on the received side). The only contact this doesn't apply to is my boyfriend's work phone, which is a Blackberry.

Hi my daughters both have an ipod touch which they got for Christmas. They've both tried to update the software this week and both despite backing up their songs have lost both songs and apps. Why is this and what can we do?

Music, inported videos and some other items are not part of the backup.  The get synced from your iTunes library at the conclusion of an update.  My guess is that the music were not in their iTunes libraries. For want a backup contains see:

  • Why are random calendar events being deleted from my iphone when I sync it with ical?

My settings are such that events entered on both devices should push to both devices when I sync. The events being deleted from my iphone are not consistent (ie. older than a certain date), they are random.

This happens to me INCESSANTLY.  I'm looking at my calendar events one second, and POOF!, the next second all of the events I've entered into the calendar- with the exception of birthdays that are on the actual contact information for a person- are GONE.  My calendar settings are set to sync all events- no timeframe- and always have been.  This happened to me nonstop on my old iPhone 3GS, and I was sure it was the phone causing this issue.  Now, I have my new iPhone 5 in my hands and same ol'   , different equipment.  I have done EVERYTHING I can think of to prevent this from happening or to restore the data- including rebooting, holding home button and on/off at same time, etc.- and NOTHING works to restore the data.  And then, just as magically as the data disappeared, POOF!- the data is back randomly sometime later.  That "later" may be 5 mins, a day, several days.  This is an absurd and EXASPERATING glitch that APPLE NEEDS TO FIX IMMEDIATELY!!!  I'm starting to hate the iPhone and Apple in general when I continuously experience HUGE glitches like this that have a profound impact on what you're trying to accomplish within a feature that you DEPEND on... yet Apple has "never heard of that problem before".  You suck, Apple.  Don't send your problems out into the real world, to users who just gave you $800 for another glitchy piece of equipment that never solves your software issues.

  • ICal events being deleted when syncing with Palm Zire 21

I have been syncing my Palm Zire 21 with iCal successfully for over a year with few problems. A few weeks ago I noticed that almost, but not all of the events on both the Palm device and iCal more than three months old were gone. Then, a few weeks later, I noticed that the events suddenly were all back in the iCal application, but not on the Palm device.
But this week, I used HotSync (as usual) to sync iCal and the Palm device, and the events were gone again. Now I am wondering what on Earth I am doing to cause this. I have read the articles about setting up to sync. I double-checked to be sure I have been syncing the way that is outlined in the instructions in the help articles.
I must have missed something vital. I have been backing up my iCal to my .Mac account using Backup. I am thinking that I can restore the iCal events using my last backup. Can I? And how do I keep this from happening again?
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   "OS10.4.10" "iSync 2.4" "iCal 2.0.5" "Hotsync 3.1"

Found the issue for me. The events are not deleted, but filtered in the standard calendar view. The iPhone shows everything as it should. Outlook 2003 has all the events to as seen when going to categories view.
It seems that once events pass on the iPhone and then a sync via iTunes to Outlook 2003 the "All Day Event" field is removed from the calendar entry.
Creating another Day/Week/Month View in outlook 2003 that has a filter to only include calendar entries where the "All Day Event" field "does not exist" will allow viewing the "hidden" past events.
Hopefully this will be fixed VERY SOON.

  • Why do my calendar events gets deleted?

I was wondering why my calendar events have been deleted??

    That is extremely vague.
    Becasue you delete them.
    You input them wrong.
    You synced to blank calendar.
    You synced to another computer.
You use a flawed exchange server.
    Soneone else deletes them.
    You restored your iphone.
You selected to replace the iphone content with the computer content.
Perhaps if you were to explain, then someone could be more helpful.

  • Why do my calendar events get deleted from my iphone while I'm viewing the calendar?

I my work schedule in the calendar on my iPhone4S (iOS 5.0.1) earlier today.  While trying to review when I work, I saw all 5 calendar events get deleted.  There are no longer any events on the days that I added work to my calendar.  Anyone else experience this and know how to fix it or recover the events? This is the second time my work schedule has been deleted right in front of my face on my phone.

  • Why are my iCal events (future events) just dissapearing?

Not using iCloud or mobile me.  I am syncing my iPhone via iTunes.
Yesterday afternoon I created several new iCal events for today's and next week's calendar.  This morning when I opened my iCal none of my new events were present.  This morning, I recreated some of tomorrow's events.  Closed/re-opend iCal to find the events had disappeared again.  Also, seeminly unconnected but equally buggy - event alarms can be 1,2 3 hours late - radomly.  ughhh!

In addition, I'm unable to delete some of the other events.

  • Why are my iCal events not the same across views?

Help!  I've been editing my iCal in Month view and everything looks great... but then I look at the day view (or week, whatever) and it's not the same.  For example, in Month view for July 2 - I have one event scheduled from 8:30-noon.  Then I look at the day view... and there are 8 different events!  Most of them duplicates of different things that I had at one time or another deleted or changed.  Why didn't the "clean up" work that I did in the month view carry over to day or week view?  In fact the opposite, there are more things in day or week views than I ever created.
Recently upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard.  Recently changed from mobileme to iCloud.  I only have iCal set to my iCloud account (no "on my mac" iCal calendar data). So the problem I see when editing on my MacBookPro is also seen when logged into iCloud directly via Safari and on my iPhone, iPad, etc.  At first I thought this was an iCloud syncing error because I only noticed the difference on my phone (list view)... but when I went back to my MacBookPro I realized the problem exists there too... so doesn't seem to be a syncing error, but rather a "view" error... then the "problem" is mirrored everywhere.
I've tried "refresh" and "refresh all" from the Calendar drop down menu.  This does nothing to help the problem... not that I really expected it would.
Thanks for any help you can provide.  I'm going crazy!
    Mac OS X 10.7.4; iCal 5.0.3

Fixed my own problem.  Ultamately a user error but tied to the many threads about the month view defaulting events to "all day" vs. hourly increment.  I knew that was the case, so when editing events from month view I made sure to add/change the time, but negected to look at "To" date.  If my event was for an hour, simply adding the hour pushed the day to span across dates so the event was really 25 hours.  Looked OK in the month view (just showed as a dot) but the day and week were all filled and casued the event to appear twice on the second day in list view (iPhone).  In the case of repeat events, sometimes "To" date ended up as the end date for the repeat cycle... which really messed every thing up... I believe causing what looked like duplicates, etc.

  • How can non-visible orphan iCal events be deleted?

Bear with me, this is going to sound very confusing.
I have reported this via the iCal feedback on Apple's Product Feedback main page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
but nothing has changed (not surprising, but more on that later).
My wife publishes her calendar from her computer to MobileMe via iCal (version 3.0.8 on OS X 10.5.8). I subscribe to it on my computer via iCal (version 4.0 on OS X 10.6.1). In her iCal and my iCal, all appears OK. But when I view her published calendar in a web browser (right-click in iCal to "Show Calendar on MobileMe") two orphan all-day events appear (one on 20 October and one on 27 October). And since her calendar appears in my iCal, her calendar appears on my iPhone (OS 3.1.2) AND those two orphan events appear on the iPhone. When the wife logs into her MobileMe account via the web interface and views her calendar, the two orphan events DO NOT appear. Since the two events do not appear to her she can not delete them. But they are cluttering up my iPhone calendar display!
    To recap:
    The two orphan events appear:
    - on my iPhone in the Calendar app
    - via a web browser on my Mac
The two orphan events DO NOT appear:
    - on wife's iCal
    - on wife's MobileMe account
    - my iCal via subscription to wife's calendar
The wife did a Sync reset. No change. She unpublished her calendar and I unsubscribed. After waiting 3 days, she published her calendar again, I then re-subscribed. The two orphan events re-appeared but can't be deleted since they don't appear in her iCal or MobileMe account.
    So, there are two questions:
    1. How does she delete these orphan events since she can not see them?
    2. How does my iPhone get them since they don't appear in my iCal and why do they appear via a web browser if they don't appear for her?
I mentioned earlier that I've reported this via Apple's feedback page. I have reported many iCal publish and subscribe problems over the past year. But I have decided that no one at Apple actually ever sees this feedback. Why do I think that? Because, not only have I reported problems with the application, I have also reported problems with the feedback page itself. For example, the latest version of iCal shown on the page is 3.0. How long has 4.0 been out? Also, the page still references ".Mac". Huh? Gee, I thought that was re-branded to MobileMe a long time ago. Since Apple has not updated the feedback page, no one at Apple must be monitoring feedback submitted via those pages, or perhaps they just don't care anymore about their Product Feedback pages. At least, that is the impression they give.
Thanks for the time and any suggestions on how to get the two orphan events to go away. --Mike

    Wish I could help.
Instead, I'll simply let you know that you are not alone. The only difference is that I have an orphan calendar that appears on my iPhone.
Said calendar does NOT appear in iCal on my MBP NOR does it appear in Mobile Me.
I do not sync via iTunes.
I would LOVE to know how to delete it as it creates duplicate events for me.

  • ICal events all deleted after syncing with computer

I synced my iPhone and iMac two days ago, and only this morning realized that ALL my events in my iPhone's iCal are now gone!! I've been keeping track of several important doctor's appointments, my child's school events, personal medical issues, etc and now they're all deleted. After checking, it seems SOME of the events from June were transferred onto the computer's iCal, but then "stopped" there and nothing else was copied. My phone and computer have synced successfully many times, always "sharing" information but never deleting! What's wrong? Can this information be recovered? In some cases, my phone was the only place this information was recorded, so now it's gone. Thanks everyone for your help!!!

    Hi there,
I'm having the exact same problem as described above, and I'm a little desperate to get my iCal entries back as well...
Concerning the question of whether I have a backup: I'm actually not sure, maybe you can tell me whether I do? The situation is the following:
I entered a (significant!) number of iCal entries on my iphone directly. The iphone, in turn, is being connected to my MB Pro at home, as well as my PC at work. Podcasts and such are updated from my PC, so I'm guessing that the PC is the primary iTunes linked to the phone. When I connected my iphone to the iTunes on my MB Pro, however, it asked whether I would like to synch as well. As I had a number of iCal entries on my MB Pro that I wanted to also see on my iphone, I agreed. It warned me (like many times before) that this would chance more than 5% of the iCal entries, but it never before had deleted any of them! When I checked again, all my direct iphone iCal-entries had disappeared.
I have Time Machine installed and made a backup of my MB Pro just a few days ago - I'm suspecting though, that if the iphone iCal entries are gone from the iphone, my MB Pro iCal did not remember any of them either, correct?
PLEASE, if someone could help explain this situation, I'd be incredibly grateful! I've never had it happen before that iCal (on either machine) deleted anything...
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Ical events getting deleted on ipod

    Hi
when I first got my ipod I tried synching it with ical on 2 different computers. It was a mess (many events were either deleted or duplicated, entire calendars were being duplicated on each machine, etc). So I gave up trying to synch with both, cleaned up the ical on the machine I mostly used and then clicked the "replace content on this ipod" option in itunes and started fresh.
However, now whenever I enter a new event into my ipod touch and try to synch, it disappears. It is not on either the ipod or the computer. I checked and the "replace content on this ipod" option is not checked. Any ideas what is going on?
Bonus question - looking through the posts it appears that it is possible to synch with 2 computers, any pointers to make that go more smoothly?
    Much thanks!
    Sara

  • Why have "All Day" events moved forward by 24 hours when syncing from my iPhone to iMac?

When I syncd my calender from my iPhone 3Gs to iMac for the first time, it moved all the events entered as "all Day" forward by 1 day on iCal. It didn't do that to events with a set start and finish time on a day.I have checked the date/time settings on both the phone ( in general settings and under mail, contacts calenders) and on the imac and all are as they should be. Whats next?

    Angela,
Quit iCal, open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/re-set the appropriate region.
Then log out/in or restart and see if the problem is corrected.

  • Why have so many features been taken away in the most recent MBP generations?

These important features are no longer offered in the macbook pro lineup:
    1. Ethernet Port
    2. DVD Drive
    3. Express Slot
    4. Hi-Res Matte Display
    5. No 17" option - great for those that use their laptop as a desktop computer
Why would they let these features go. I think the last time these were included was in their 2012 models. Ethernet is not dead and a built in superdrive is not dead for professional users. They are still relevant.
#4 is probably the loss I will miss the most. I was looking to update to the latest macbook pro but was really let down to see how these 5 features mentioned above have been removed. I rely on all of them. Is the macbook pro becoming too consumerized?
Probably the most puzzling of the features taken away is #4 and 5. Do you think Apple has gone too far?

The Ethernet adapter can be used in conjunction with the Thunderbolt port.
You can use any external USB optical drive.
Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 are faster than the Express slot.
Apparently not enough users wanted the matte display.
Few users these days want to carry around a heavy 17" notebook computer.
