Why I am losing aspects of the PDF after replacing pages?

Hi,
I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro with Windows 7, and I want to replace certain pages in one PDF with certain pages from another PDF. The pages are replaced, but anything that was added with the typewriter is lost in the pages I'm replacing. In other words, it replaces the pages, but does not copy across the page numbers and a few other additions that I made with the typewriter. Am I doing something wrong or is the program not capable of carrying across the additions? I am desperate & would appreciate any help! Thanks.

First of all, this forum is about Adobe Reader. The Acrobat forums are located here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat
Regarding your question: Try to flatten the file before copying the pages over. Doing so makes your edits an integral part of the PDF page and should cause them to carry over.

          ev_guid_32 = guid.
CONCATENATE runtime->application_url '/' guid '.pdf'    INTO   URL.
<u><b>This URL is called in the front end LAYOUT.</b></u>

Is there a way to sort a PDF file with multiple pages by a specific field within the PDF? All pages have the same invoice format and i would like to sort by a field within and then print the documents. (Vendor, PO#, Date, ect.)

When you say field, do you mean specifically a form field, such as a text field? Or is the information regular text on the page?

  • Why should we create index on  the table after inserting data ?

Please tell me the Reason, why should we create index on the table after inserting data .
while we can also create index on the table before insertion of the data.

The choice depends on a number of factors, the main being how many rows are going to be inserted in the table as a percentage of the existing rows, or the percentage growth.
Creating index after a table has been populated works better when the tables are large or the inserts are large for the following reasons
    1. The sort and creation of index is more efficient when done in batch and written in bulk. So works faster.
    2. When the index is being written blocks get acquired as more data gets written. So, when a large number of rows get inserted in a table that already has an index , the index data blocks start splitting / chaining. This increases the "depth" of the inverted b-tree makes and that makes the index less efficient on I/O. Creating index after data has been inserted allows Orale to create optical block distribution/ reduce splitting / chaining
    3. If an index exists then it too is routed through the undo / redo processes. Thats an overhead which is avoided when you create index after populating the table.

  • How do you drag pages from one PDF to replace pages in another?

In Acrobat Pro CS2 for Macintosh you could drag one or more pages from one PDF, and choose whether to insert them into another PDF, or replace pages in the other PDF.
To insert them you dropped the dragged pages between two pages in the Pages panel.
To replace pages in the other PDF you dropped the dragged pages onto a page in the Pages panel.
I recently upgraded to Acrobat CS5, and this no longer seems to work. All you can do is insert.
Of course I can then delete the pages I wanted to replace, but it's now much less convenient, and there's more opportunity for error.
Am I missing something, or has this feature really been removed between CS2 and CS5?

You still can but you have to press command + option when you cursor is hovering over the page you want to replace. A blue border will appear around the page.
So select the new page you are bringing in, drag it over to your main document, keeping the mouse pressed down. Hover over the page you want to replace and press command + option. A blue box will appear around the page. Let go of the mouse and you will get your confirmation message. Press OK, and you are good to go.

Cannot see my text or the cursor after installing pages...

At a guess you have simply chosen a blank Layout mode template.
Blank Layout templates have absolutely nothing on them, you have to add your own textboxes.
Choose a Word Processing template, they are listed in the Template Chooser sidebar.

  • Are the PDF's that Pages exports in CMYK or RBG?

Occasionally I have problems when sending PDF's created in Pages to an online printer such as Uprinting.com or Gotprint.com.  The frustrating part is that it seems to be random.  Most of the time the files print just fine.  My most recent problem was an order of business cards through GotPrint.com.  The colors were way off there were some weird gray boxes around one of the logos and even one of the text boxes - as if the boxes weren't set to be transparent - which they were.  Any suggestions?

    > The colors were way off. There were some weird gray boxes around one of the logos and even one of the text boxes - as if the boxes weren't set to be transparent - which they were. Any suggestions?
    Answer:
    1. The colours were way off because the print service did not provide you with the ICC profile for the printing condition.
    2. The system graphics service detected that you used transparency. Therefore, the system set the PDF version to 1.4 where device independent transparency operators are supported. The print service did not detect that your PDF was version 1.4 and processed it as version 1.3 which has no support for device independent transparency operators.
    There are three problems here:
    a. Apple does not clearly and concisely state that rendering transparency requires a RIP Raster Image Processor that has a frontend for PDF 1.4 or higher (inside a RIP there is a conversion from PDF at the frontend to PostScript at the backend).
    b. The print service does not correctly detect PDF 1.4 and does not describe either the ICC profile(s) for its printing condition(s) or the rendering requirements for its printing condition(s) including resolution.
    c. You did not know that in order to manually render device-independent transparency into a device-dependent representation, you need to use the Apple ColorSync Utility (which is the system ICC service for colour matching) in combination with system level transparency flattening.

  • Why I'm still getting a white screen after Replacing the screen on my iPhone

i just replaced the screen on my iPhone 4 but after I finished , im getting a white screen all the time

Did you replace the screen yourself? If so, then opening the device voids any post-warranty support from Apple, and from the forum. You will need to Google for help, since according to Apple, the iPhone does not have any user serviceable parts.

  • Why is my fan working all the time after installing a Samsung SSD

    Hello,
I installed a Samsung 500GB EVO SSD on my 13" Macbook Pro Late 2011
Since I nstalled it my fan is wroking all the time even when I am not doing anything just after my computer loads.
Does anybody know what the reason of this is?
Thanks for everybody that will reply!

Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans justify an SMC reset. Read all the steps.
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. The power adapter indicator light will cycle off / on once.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
If its fans continue to operate inexplicably fast consult Samsung for the possibility of a firmware update for their product.

  • Unable to attach pdfs after extracting pages

Immediately after extracting pages in Acrobat Pro, the ability to attach the file to email is not available.
I have tested this on multiple computers using Win 7, Outlook 2007 and Adobe Acrobat Pro X and it doesn't seem to work. This was previously working with Win XP.
In a multi page pdf document, I'm going to Tools > Pages > Extract, then Share > Send Files > Attach to Email, but the extracted pages can't be attached to an email as the pdf isn't automatically saved. The attach function works fine after the document is saved, but it wasn't like this before.
Is there a fix for this? It is a minor issue but it is an inconvenience to some of our users on Win7.

hi, I tried via the internet using Firefox, I can't even download the Reader pdf help files!. I can open exsisting pdfs that are on my computer. I didn't have any problems with the old V10 of reader, this problem has only started since installing v11.
    Thanks Bernd for your interest.

  • Audio clips cutting off at the beginning, after replacing audio.

I have received an fla for a complex game, and have been directly replacing the audio clips in it with new ones with the same file name. The game randomly chooses themes, displaying text and a corresponding audio clip.  After replacing the old files with the new ones, out of 20 audio clips, about 6 of them get cut off at the beginning. There is no discernible difference in the length of the clips, or empty space at the beginning between the original audio files and the new ones.
Is it possible that there is something happening in the actionscript that could be causing the problem? The fla calls a file calls Themes.as, this is the code in the file, case the answer is in there somewhere:

If you have not upgraded to version 7 you should do that.
If you have upgraded to Version 7, be sure to do the updates to 7.0.5
Go to the Help menu and select 'About Adobe Presenter' to see what version, if it is 7.0, to 7.0.2 you need to update it
drop down the help menu again and you will see an 'update' option.
you need to install in order - 7.0.1, then 7.0.2 then 7.0.5 - you cannot install all at once
another thing you might want to do is open the file you are working on in 7.0.5 snd save it out with a new filename in a new location to combat that pesky problem of the 'media.ppcx' file disappearing....
