Why I can't gift an app that I already have on my iOs devices?

That's it, I want to know:
Why I can't gift an app thru the iTunes store for an that I already have on my iOs devices?
I have an account fully authorized complete with a credit card, so it is puzzling or a blip in Apples system!

Is it hidden via an app age rating in Settings > General > Restrictions ? If not then you could try a reset and see if it shows after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Hmm, I guess that's something to put in the suggestion box. If you really insist, just mybe you can contact iTS to refund you. Then you can purchase the gift, and then you can buy it for yourself after?

I'm trying to gift an app that I have already purchased for myself. But I do not see a way to doing so. Since I have already purchased the app, when I am in the Appstore it just shows "Install" instead of the price of the app.

Gifting an app needs to be done prior to purchase.
You can gift an app using an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone. Launch the App Store and find the app you want to send as a gift. Once you have found the app and are viewing all of the details, scroll down to the bottom. There you will find a Gift This App button. Tap on it.

You will be provided with a summary of the app; press Next after you have confirmed it is the app you would like to send.

Enter your name followed by the recipient's name and e-mail address. You can also scroll down and enter a note to be sent with the app if you'd like. Press Next when you're done.

You have to download the iPhone version of the app - if there are two different versions and if you do not want to pay for the iPad version.
Look in the App Store for the iPhone version and then try to download that one,

When you do the search and the app appear in the search, it will tell you that it is installed on your device but there is not way to find one app to replace another app - unless I am misunderstanding what you are asking.
And if there is an iPad version of an iPhone app that you already have - you will have to purchase that app for the iPad - because that is a different app from the iPhone version.

No.
All purchases made with that account will always be tied to that account. You will have to authorize your computers for that account and update your apps using that account.

HT1688 I have updated and lost my apps and I can't access the apps that I do have. I called AT &T today to no avail.

I have tried numerous times to do something with this I phone. I do not use it much. My husband download the updated ITunes but not only did it lose most of my apps it won't allow me to get into the ones that I do have. I have been having problems with this for awhile now. Can't even take pictures and send them to my husband of the new Granddaughter! This is getting upsetting because I don't use it that much. Yes you have to delete media to make the 2.7 GB available. When updating is done, the newer IOS only takes a max of 100 MB more storage than the old iOS. The iPod needs the extra space to do the installation.
You can update via iTunes. Just note that if you do all synced medial like a and music have to in the iTunes library.
