Why I can't run Oracle 8.1.7 Client's setup.exe on Windows 2000 Professional?

Winodws 2000 Simplied Chinese Professional

Interesting - my problem is the other way around! I can install on NT4 but not on Win2k. I'm beginning to think it may be hardware related - I'm trying to install on a new Dell Precision 340. Initially I thought it might be related to the graphics card (ATI, and I know there was at least one issue with ATI cards under certain circumstances) but I swapped that out, reinstalled everything and I still get exactly the same symptoms you do.
Will let you know if I find out the cause.
Rory.

Why Other Browser cannot run oracle forms without IE.Let aside we don't know what forms version you are using, your statement is simply wrong. I am running Forms 10gR2 with Firefox for quite some time (from 2 to 12 and now with 10.0.7 ESR). So I know for a fact that you can run Forms with other Browsers then IE. Also why would Oracle certify other Browsers (which they did) if it wouldn't work in the first place?
So to answer your "question": forms most certainly won't work on FF on your side because you didn't configure your formsweb.cfg properly. For newer Versions of Fírefox you'd have to use the Sun JPI instead of JInit:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/forms-jre-131772.pdf
Also if you'd have used the forum search it would have come up with some informations on what to do; e.g.
Running Oracle Forms applications using  Firefox 3.6
So to sum it up you should reprhase your original question to:
How do I use the forum search/google to search for informations already provided a hundred times?cheers

  • Can we run oracle Forms 5 Application with 10G in Client/Server?

    Hi All,
Can we run oracle Forms 5 Application with 10G in Client/Server
    Mode?
    Regards
    Gaurav

In theory you can run it 2 tier - which means that you have the client (the machine the user is sitting at) being the same machine in which the forms application server is running. So yes. But specifically, we don't support a client server runtime anymore. 6i was the last version.
With 10g you will be running through a browser.

  • Can I install Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2000 Professional

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have Windows 2000 professional edition loaded on my PC and I'm not sure what it allows. Can I load Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition of the database on this operating system, or do I need to load windows 2000 server software.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Its a problem with oracle and pentium 4 processors actually. The solution involves renaming or deleting the symcjit.dll in the 8i installation package after you've copied the whole Cd onto your HDD!
I've tried this and it install OK, with a few errors along the way, now I can't get the apache server working, nor on the 9i AS that I've installed as well. Let me know if you get anything useful please?

Yes, of course. Both versions works but you have to be prepared for lots of RAM.

  • Oracle 11g, 64 bit, Forms 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

We just changed over to Windows 7 64 Bit now we trying to find out what version of Fusion Middleware will run on Windows 7 64 bit. Most posting say you can't install
Oracle 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit OS, but we have found a few that say they have found away to install 11g 64 bit. Not one of them shows you the install
from start to finish and some of the posting go back to 2009!
If this has been a problem from 2009 - present can some tell why Oracle has not provided a fix or update for Windows 7 64 bit and are they going to in the future?
If anyone knows how install Oracle 11g 64 bit, Forms 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit please let me know!
    Thanks!
    Monty

    Monty,
I assume that you mean the developer tools? They are kind of in limbo with 64-bit support for the dev tools, but if you want to get the latest (as of today) release working, you can do this:
    1). Install a 64-bit JDK
2). Install WLS 10.3.4 generic (use the 64-bit java)
    3). Install Forms/Reports 11.1.1.2 (install only, don't configure)
    4). Install Forms/Reports 11.1.1.4 (install only, don't configure)
5). Edit your PATH system variable so that it doesn't contain any parenthesis. I did this by creating a junction point for c:\program files (x86) and using the junction point in the path
6). Run the configuration utility to create the forms/reports domain. Be sure to specify the dev tools
7). Look in the start menu for the Reports Builder icon. It will be pointing to a batch file. Edit that batch file to comment out the lines that print a message and exit (because you're on 64-bit)
Not officially supported, but it works for me.

Intel says there is a bug in oracle's OUI as well other swing based programs. The solution is to copy the CD to local drive and add -nojit as first parameter to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS e.g. JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS="-nojit -mx32m"
This will enable OUI to run. Even after installing oracle Net80 conf. asst won't start due to same reason.
Go to HOME\admin\tools\ and edit netca.cl and netasst.cl to add same -nojit before -classpath.
Do this for every tool that gives this prob such DBA studio...

  • Can't Install My Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe seems dead.

I can't Install My Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe file seems dead. The CD looks fine.
I reinstalled a fresh version of Win. XP Pro Sp3 and it wiped out several of my programs so I've been re-installing them. Of course I lost the registry and have to build a new one by reinstalling my programs. But my Photoshop 7 CD seems to have a dead setup.exe file and it will not respond as it used to. I've tried everything including disabling virus program. I don't know what else to do. Maybe I need a new setup.exe file but I have no idea where I could get one.
Yes, I do have a registered product. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks, Judi

Thank you so much for your suggestion R_Kelly.
Yes, I had tried copying the contents of the installation disk to both my external Seagate drive and right onto the C: drive, itself, but with no success.
But I just experienced a miracle and it installed like butter - to my utter amazement.  I will share my experience in case someone comes along with a similar problem and maybe my situation will help them.
When I installed the "rescue disk" to replace my entire OS on my laptop, the techs had given me some choices in options which I really didn't know how to choose from, and I was a professional IT person in the late 90's. That's where I got into trouble. What I wanted to do was just overwrite my Windows XP Pro SP3, like we could do back in the "old days" when computers were open-source and not all proprietary. When I selected to delete the current Windows partition to make room for the new installation, apparently it also deleted the registry and my computer had no knowledge of the programs I had installed and I had to reinstall just about everything.   I thought I was okay with that.
In the process of finally installing the new Windows OS, I was asked to give my computer a "name."  Well, I don't recall that I ever gave it a name before and there was no place for me to go to find out. So, I gave it a name "JudiLenova."  When I couldn't get my programs to run, I thought that maybe I had not only lost my Registry file but maybe whatever ini files I had left didn't recognize that name, so I changed it to "Judi," still not recalling what, if any, name I had given it before.  As I encountered problems with trying to install Photoshop, I looked at my systems directories and saw that there were equal files in two different pathways, one for each name. I wondered if maybe DOS, which can't make decisions, couldn't decide which path was the right one to find files I needed. I sure regretted not using the "repair" option on the rescue disk, but it was too late. I need this computer to operate using all of the tools I have installed on it.
I bought a powerful fixit program recommended by CNET to fix things and it found over 1400 problems, but still nothing fixed this problem.
One thing I had noticed is that sometimes when I would do a restart of the computer, the Windows Installer would suddenly show up to finish the Photoshop install, but then it would stop initializing because of the restart. (So close, and yet so far away!)  I knew the old system was long gone and stupidly I had deleted the full backup I had stored on the Seagate, so I looked at the "restore" option to see what setpoints there were to see if maybe I could roll back to an earlier time. The only restore point I had was for the day I had installed the rescue disk. I said "what the heck" and opted to roll it back. When I made that selection, I got the message that the major change would be that the computer name would be changed from "Judi" to "JudiLenova."  I thought that might solve some of my problem. Amazingly, it appears to have solved the Photoshop problem because I put the disk back into my D: drive and off she went without a hitch!
My hunch is that DOS couldn't find the Install Shield to enable the installation. Whatever the cause of the miracle, I'm grateful that I didn't toss my computer in the lake outside my window... but it sure was tempting.
Thank you again for your attempts to rescue me. I hope this helps the next guy who comes along.  Now I'm going to try to install all the rest of my beloved old Adobe programs and everything else.   Fingers crossed!
    Judi :-)

  • Cannot start the setup of Oracle Client 8.1.6 on Pentium 4 Windows 2000 Professional

I need to install the Oracle Client 8.1.6 on a Compaq Evo D500 Workstation running Pentium 4 1.5GHz with 20G hard disk 128MB ram with OS Windows 2000 Professional. The autorun screen popup but no response when I press the Install/Uninstall products. The machine had installed the Oracle Developer/2000 runtime and running healthy. Does anyone know the fix for this problem?

I have the same problem with 8.1.7 on an ACER Veriton 7200 1.7 GHz , 20GB + 120 GB HD 768 MB Memory.
It happens under NT 4.0 Server SP6 and 2000 Server SP2.
The changing of Graphics Card from AGP to PCI does not solving the problem.
Different graphics resolution and colors also.

  • Oracle Repository on Windows 2000 Professional

    Hi all,
Is Oracle Repository (both server side and the client side) certified to run on Windows 2000 Professional?
    Regards..
    null

    Hi Arik,
The short answer is yes, if you are using Oracle 8i 8.1.6 EE or 8.1.7 EE on the server.
Information on operating system certification is available in the install guide here:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/repository/doc_library/cmnhlp72/rep_insgde/igch1_65.htm#PreliminaryInformation
In addition to what is specified in the install guide, the release notes state that Oracle 8.1.7 EE is also a certified server version.

    Hi all,
I am trying to write a code to draw a graph and calculate an area under the graph of sin function. When I run the code, it is working, but when I try to displace the GUI, there are two errors.
    - the graph did not appear in the GUI. It should appeare as I already add GPanel into bottomPanel and then add bottomPanel into contentPane. Why?

first bug: in initComponents() you say
MyPanel GPanel = new MyPanel();Since GPanel is a member of the IntegralF class you probably mean:
GPanel = new MyPanel();Just a hint, use a lower case letter for variables:
    JPanel p1 = null;
GPanel p2 = null; // looks like another class name !
MyPanel gPanel = null; // gPanel looks more like a variable than a classYou get and store contentPane, but then further on you say
getContentPane().add(...). Do it one way or the other.
    Don't "mix n match"
You set a grid layout on bottomPanel, then try to add GPanel to the
SOUTH of bottomPanel - that doesn't make sense !

    but I dont know how...
    LD_ASSUME dont work on 10.2

  • Why i can't run fcpx on iMac 3.06 Ghz core 2 duo with 16Gb ram?

I Can't run FCPX on my iMac.
It's working in theory, but it's stopping playback even without any effect, (video frames were dropped during playback - message), i can't preview any effect, as loading preview taking for ever.
I recently upgrade RAM from 4Gb to 16Gb 1067 Mhz DDr3, and I thought that's make a difference but not.
I have latest Lion 10.8.1 update. FCPX ver 10.0.5.
I try to work on 1080 video files located on main HDD , not external. they are from digital camera, 1920 x 1080, 1080p and codecs H264 linear PCM, 29.97 fps stereo.
    Any suggestion?

You have loads of power so something is not  OK.
Is your internal HD more than 80% full?
For a start trash your preferences using http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Incidentally if you are using 50p/60p footage, that could be the problem especially on an internal HD.
You should always transcode 50p/60p AVCHD to ProRes 422.
Do that and I am sure you will see an improvement.
