I just posted this for someone else that asked the same question. this worked for me today.
I figured out a workaround for this today. when you go into the App Store, don't go into "updates" (those apps in waiting status won't even show that they're there waiting for updating), go to the "purchased" tab. Each app that is sitting in waiting status now how a little cloud with a down arrow. Tap the cloud and the app will update. You can only do one at a time because it seems to tax the system if you tap them all together. mine were in waiting status for 5 hours. all apps were updated within 10 minutes once I did this.

What is the exact problem or error message?
If you're having issues connecting to the app store, is this the only connection issue? Can you connect to itunes store?

Try rebooting your ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
Go to settings/itunes and app stores, tap on apple id and sign out. Reboot the ipad and the sign back in the same way.

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

The games available for the iPad from the App Store will not be compatible with any computer other than an iDevice. To check for available games/Apps for the MacBook Pro you would need to check the Mac App Store, assuming of course that you are running at least OS 10.6.6.

Can't download apps (1st gen ipod); tap won't register

Before you ask, yes, it's updated to the latest firmware (3.1.3), and no, I've not jailbroken it. I can't download any apps anymore, not even compatible ones. Everytime I tap on the buy button, it doesn't even register. In fact, the whole app store looks weird. The screenhots at the bottom is just 1 big image. I can't tap on anything on an app page. The only thing I can tap on (which actually responds) is App Support, which takes me to the developers website, and that button wasn't even on my old app store. It was all working fine until this morning, now the AppStore just looks corrupted. Someone plz help.
EDIT 1: Actually, the whole thing is a lot like the "Update" problem, where you can't update apps seperatly. When you check the update details, and tap install, tapping on update won't register. Its a similar problem to that, but with apps instead of updates. Is it just me?

Same problem here. The store seems to work fine, but when I pick an app the same weird things happen: the screenshots are missing or there is a giant image that can't be moved. Also, the "buy" or "free" button doesn't work on any app or section of the store. It's like the update problem that #N1L3S mentioned. I found that the Featured section seems to have some kind of problem too and when you scroll down to the apps, the icons are missing or a grey square appears on its position. At the same place, when you tap on one of this icon-missing apps, the screen fills up with text that meeses all up. I hope Apple will fix these issues soon.

Can't update apps or download podcasts on iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1

I can't download podcasts or update apps on my iPhone 5s. I had the problem on iOS 8.0.2 and the problem of updating apps went away for a few days when I updated to iOS 8.1. But now my apps won't update anymore. My podcasts stopped downloading at the same time as my apps stopped updating, but downloading never restarted. I am able to stream my podcasts though.
My iPhone 5s has 64GB and I have 42.8GB available, so storage capacity isn't the issue. I've had the phone for 10 months. The phone had 1 second of water damage about 2 months ago. This issue didn't start until about three weeks ago, so I don't know if they are related. I've tried soft and hard resets, nothing has worked so far.
I appreciate any suggestions.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6 16GB. If you restore it, the problem will be solved but it will return after some hours or so. It's not hardware, but I don't know how to fix it permanently.

Can't load apps from appstore

On my iPhone5, when trying to load apps from appstore, after entering Apple-ID and password, download does not start, after a few seconds I am returned to the app download screen. Apple-ID and password have been verified via Apple website and are OK.
There are no iTunes downloads stuck either.
Any idea?

Cant update apps from AppStore with iOS 8

After I upgrade my iPad mini retina (A1490) to iOS 8, I found all my apps cannot update in AppStore.
Neither clicking on the 'update' button for each app nor 'update all' in AppStore will work, and no progress was made, just the round indicator circling forever.
Has any one met this problem and know what is going on?

Did you do the "erase all content and settings" before performing the restore?? That was the key for me. I had tried all the "normal" things, reboot, hard reboot, etc.
It had trouble even during the complete restore - it stalled at one particular app for a long time (15-20 minutes). I disconnected the lightning (USB) cable, waited 30 seconds, reconnected and it picked up the restore.
Still painful as most of my application data had to be restored through each app. Kindle books reloaded, etc.

Hi all for those still poping over to this topic, here is one problem that has not highlighted in the forums.
if you have used different accounts to download different apps into your ipad/iphone you need to authorize the computer for both accounts.
eg. [email protected] downloaded 'angry birds' and [email protected] downloaded 'money converter' both accounts need to be authorized on the computer will you then be able to transfer all the apps.
this works if you also used more then 3 accounts to download apps to your ipad/iphone. if you can't remember which accounts downloaded then i can't really help you there haha.
