Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Try this:
1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

Are you using iTunes to update your iPad? ID you are running iOS. 4.3, you must use iTunes on a computer according to the instructions in the kb article that led you to this support site.
If you are using iTunes and you are not having any success, try disabling your firewall and antivirus software when you try again. And please, by all means, provide some details. Don't be shy or keep us guessing. Just stating that you can't update your iPad doesn't help is to help you.

I finally decided to turn this annoyance into an opportunity. After a lot of experimenting I found that my iPad was just fine under 7.1 if I simply restored it as new. I have a lot of time on my hands and I had 1424 apps on my iPad! This is why every attempt to restore took so long.
I decided to restore as new, spend a day restoring the apps I really used. Doing so gave me a quick iPad with only bout a quarter of the storage used.
Granted it was a pain in the arse, but I wrote it off as in the old days when you had to do this with windows 95 just to keep a stable system.
I DO have some data in a few files of the now unused backup but a quick google search finds a couple Mac programs out there that will allow you go extract audio recordings, app data files etc. from the backup. I'll do that someday if I even miss the files I've probably forgotten that are there.
Anyway, there was nothing wrong with my hardware. I think there were just some troublesome setup items that 7.1 didn't like. Once set up as new, the ipad was fine.

Now when I plug my phone into my PC, iTunes treats my phone as new or restore from previous back up version. I plugged the phone into my PC before and used iTunes to back it up at leat once. So with that, here's what you should do:
Update iTunes on your computer to the current version (11.0.1).
Plug your iPad into your computer. When iTunes is open, go to the iPad's summary page and after the iPad synchs, click "Check for Updates".

I tried uppdating my ipad then it went into recovery mode. I thought "oh no problem, my phone has done this before". So, I hooked it up to iTunes and started to restore/update it, but when the update began, it said it would take 24 hours to download. Already abnormal. Then, the number kept rising higher and higher until it got to 300 HOURS. Then, once it reaches a certain 300, it says "connection failed. please check to see that you have a working connection or try again later" or something like that. So, my iPad is now stuck in recovery mode and I can't exactly talk to people now. What do I do?

No sound on iPad mini after iOS 8 update

After updating my iPad mini to iOS 8 I found I couldn't hear any sounds. It is not muted, all sounds are up, and even tried with headphones. Can't hear music, games, keyboard clicks, nothing. I also updated my iPhone5 and the sound is fine there. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution?
And yes I checked the physical volume/mute buttons on the side as well as in the settings/sound menu.

u r probably using the wrong button, is not volume. I hope you have an iPad with the slider.
but, in any case, try yo replicate the environment for the solution, and, if you DO NOT have the 'rotation lock" slider as "rotation lock" and directly in "sound off" go back one step and put it in "rotation lock" … try to use volume button, that it will not work and then do as below ...
I solved this on my ipad mini retina by setting the 'rotation lock' slider to 'sound off':
- Go to Setting->General
- Change from rotation lock to sound off.
- Wiggle the slider: sound will return
- Now you can set the slider back to rotation lock again

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.
