Why i get 1356 unknown protocol drops on my 2951 router ?

2951 router is giving a lot of drops when pinging and when i check the output of "sh inter"command  i only find 1356 unknown protocol drops.

  • Unknown protocol drops with AP2700

We've been deploying some AP 2700 within our offices and been observing some "unknown protocol drops" on the switchports where the AP's are connected.
The AP's are associated to a 7500 wireless controller, running 8.0.100.0 code.  The AP's are in lightwight configuration with flexconnect configuration (4 vlans/SSID) associated.
On the switch port, the port has the following configuration :
     description Cisco AP
     switchport mode trunk
     load-interval 30
     spanning-tree portfast
I also specified the allowed vlans, based on the vlans that were mapped on the Flexconnect group and I still get some unknown protocol drops on the AP ports.
Does anybody know what this could relate to ?

See whether those are related to jumbo frames ?

  • UCS C 240M3 Unknown Protocol Drops

I have a UCS server running NIC teaming to a 3750X stack.  I am getting unknown protocol drops on one of the 10 Gig interfaces.  The other runs fine. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this issue and what can be done to resolve it.
    Thank you
    Dave

    Hi, Leo :
I don't think it is a duplicate posts ,because my configruration is different , mine is WPA2 with AES-CCM.  still has the drop issue.
and I provide more infomation .
    thank you .

  • Unknown protocol drops

We started using Cisco 3850 switches. We are seeing unknown protocol drops on 10gb and 1gb uplinks. We have 3750x switches that have the same config. The 3750s are not showing these drops. What would cause these unknown protocol drops? It does not appear to be a fiber or SFP issue. And it does not seem to be affecting the normal traffic.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

    Hello lindseye444,
Please have a look at this bug:
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuh47950/?reffering_site=dumpcr
    Symptom:
when a routing protocol packet (such as but not limited to EIGRP) is received on a 3850 configured as an L2 device, interfaces receiving these packets will increment "unknown protocol drops"
This is a cosmetic issue and will not affect the routing protocols involved.
    Conditions:
EIGRP or other routing protocol packets are received by a Catalyst 3850 that is configured as an Layer2 switch.
    Workaround:
Once an SVI (switch virtual interface: for example "interface vlan 10") with an IP address is configured on the 3850 for the vlan in question the "unknown protocol drops" counter stops incrementing
    Further Problem Description:
L3 routing protocol packets might be punted to CPU received on a L2 switchport, if no SVI is presented, unknown protocol drops will increase on the physical interface.
    Regards.

  • Vlan interface "unknown protocol drops"

    Hello
I have a satellite office that connects via VPN back to my Corporate office.
The VPN is terminated on an Cisco 891.
I have received complaints from the user's there that their Citrix session hangs on them. They can then reconnect the session and
find the session was still going as they started back where they left off. There are several pc's that experiewnce the same issue.
The Citrix server has been checked out. The PC's have been checked out and re-imaged just to make sure.
I see on the Vlan interfacfe on the 9891 there are alot of unknown protocol drops.
What does this mean and could it be the cause of the session hang?

If you're running Citrix across a VPN, that crosses the Internet (?), I would be first concerned about transient latency and/or packet drops.  I would also be concerned whether your VPN has been configured to avoid packet fragmentation.

  • URL object with https string throws malformed url exception: unknown protocol: https

In WebLogic I am trying to connect to an HTTPS url by passing that url
string into the contructor for URL object. This throws a Malformed URL
    Exception : unknown protocol: https.
When i run this same block of code outside of weblogic (in a stand-alone
app), it runs perfectly. (not exceptions when creating the URL object).
why do i get this exception in weblogic?
could weblogic be loading its own URL class rather than the java.net.URL
class (which supports ssl)? if so how do i override that classloading?
is there a weblogic security "feature" that prevents opening an ssl
    connection?
    thanks for any help
    mike
    [email protected]

You need to modify your weblogic.policy file to allow you to change the
the property java.protocol.handler.pkgs ... and any other properties
that you may probably change using JSSE (for example:
javax.net.ssl.trustStore for storing certificates of servers that you
want to connect to from WLS )

thanks for the help dennis, but still get the "unknown protocol https".
the URL object sees that the URLStreamHandler ==null and get the value for
    java.protocol.handler.pkgs (which should be
com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol) then it tries to load that class. i
believe that the GetPropertyAction("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","") is not
returning com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol. therefore the class is not
    getting loaded
i think that my classpath is set up properly for classpath and
weblogic_classpath so i think that i me calling
    System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs",
    "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol"); is not effective.
do you know anyway i can trouble shoot this.
    thanks

Https is an add-in so to speak. Try this before you create your url:
    System.setProperty ("java.protocol.handler.pkgs",
    "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
// add the default security provider (again, in JSSE1.0.1)
    int iap = java.security.Security.addProvider(new
    com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider() );

  • Why do I keep getting an unknown error 4002.

Why do I keep getting an unknown error 4002. I seems to happen 5 or 6 times a day. iTunes seems to be working fine but it's kind of annoying. The window pops up and says "We could not complete your iTunes Store request." It tells me that there was an error in the iTunes Store and should try again later. I click OK but it just won't stop.

I don't want my calendars and reminders deleted from my iMac.  I would rather have them deleted from iCloud, since I never intended to use iCloud to begin with.  The fact that my calendars and reminders are available on other devices that use iCloud is no good to me because I have no other Apple devices.
You may not have 'intended' to use iCloud but you did. Backup your contacts and calendars, sign out and restore your data.

    Hi
Are you using a wireless router to connect to the internet? if so disconnect the wireless router and connect through LAN. Ensure you disconnect all your wirless devices including a wirless dongle if you are using one. Once connected through LAN download again. This worked for me today.

Hi I'm trying to download apps from the app store with my Macbook Pro and I get an "Unknown error", anyone know why?

    Ok... good.
Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.2 Client Combo  will hopefully fix this problem for you.
It's ok to install the combo even though you are already running v10.7.2
Make sure and restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try to download apps.

    Hi
    Ah a homehub.
Set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps(
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to NONE.
Goto sys prefs/security/firewall and check "set access for specific........" and click the + at the bottom and add ichat to the list.
    Restart ichat.

  • Since latest update to airport extreme im getting 10 unknown base station and time capsule items showing in airport utility as a network.  when able to "forget" them they initially drop off but soon return. how do i get them deleted and stay that way

since latest update to airport extreme im getting 10 unknown base stations and time caps showing up as though they are a part of my network. sometimes i can "forget" them and they will disappear initially but soon return. i need and want only my connection inside my home . any ideas. i have done a factory reset and set up a new network but they continue to show up.

I'm not convinced that the problem lies in Airport Utility. This same thing was happening to me, nearly exactly as you describe it. The thing is that with me, the problems clearly started when I updated the firmware in my Airport Express (n). That's when all the wacky stuff started happening. Sometimes it would show up in AU, sometimes it didn't and even if it didn't, I could still access the internet through it.
But as you said, the problems got really bad when another Express (b/g) was put on the network with it. Even when it did work, the (b/g) would make it impossibly slow.
You know more about this than me, and clearly have more patience if you've restarted the network fifty times. I gave up at about ten.
In any case, your solution is more of a work around and if you're still having that slow connection problem, I'm not sure you've got it. But thanks for your reporting of this. At least I know I'm not crazy.
