Why I have to buy Lion Server and Lion for $83.98???

I want to upgrade my MAC OS X Server 10.6.8 to Lion Server......
But the App store insists I buy Lion as well... AND it has tried to charge me $83.98 for it.... (The Australian dollar is closely on parity with US dollar)..
So.. I already downloaded Lion.... and installed on my imac.... now I want to upgrade my server.. why do I have to buy lion again??? And why so expensive compared to the rest of the world??

For those that don't see the prompt to buy Lion + Lion Server again, there's no need to respond because you aren't having this issue and any obvious input, is just that.. obvious.
For those with this issue, Apple Care won't be able help you because it's a download issue and not an install issue and they suggested to contact the Mac App Store (iTunes Store) support for assistance.   Sadly it's e-mail only and probably will take some time.  You could try a clean install of SLS to upgrade to LS, but that still might not work. Other than attempting the pain of wasting a day to do a fresh install before the upgrade, I've tried logging out and back in with the Mac Store, created a second admin account and used the same AppleID and both still prompted me to Buy Lion+Lion server again.
For those that haven't clicked on the buy, I still hit an issue that preventing me from downloading the Lion Server after the 4GB Lion image downloaded.  You will probably have to request the refund if you attempted this, but guessing you still won't be able to install.   Also if you try to upgrade from SLS to just Lion, you will be prompted to buy Lion Server as well.   So in the end, it's up to the Mac App Store e-mail to resolve this or perhaps I can attempt to do the clean install.

  • Do i have to buy Lion for my other macs? (Have them as preinstalled in a new mac)

    Hello everyone
I recently bought an iMac running Mac OS X Lion. I also have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
I know that if you buy Lion from App Store you can install it on all your computers that you personally use.
I guess that is not the case when you buy a machine with Lion preinstalled. In order to upgrade my MBP, i have to buy Lion right?
I logged in from MBP in the App Store and Lion is not listed in my purchases (My MBP is eligible for upgrade).
    Thanks for any help
    Dimitris

    Thanks for the clarification Allan.
This is quite ridiculous in my opinion as compared to the price of the mac, the price of Lion is nothing... But anyway..

I have a iMac and a MacBook. Do I have to buy Lion twice?

I believe so. The download is really an install app and never goes to the download older. It executes immediately.   This means here is nothing to move to another computer.

So i bought Lion and its downloading on my usual mac. then went to my server and tried to purchase lion server. i was told i had to buy lion and lion server both for $79. both computers use the same store account. so why do i have to buy lion twice?

But you dont have to buy it twice. See the EULA for downloads from the App Store.

I purchased an imac in November, complete with Lion. now it says i have to buy Lion again. It was a refurbed mac, is OSX registered to someone else. Why has my apple i.d forgot ive purchased lion?

Your post was pretty unclear, but if you are CERTAIN that you purchased Lion off the App Store, and cannot see the option to re-download it, see this article: Unhiding Purchases in Mac App Store
If you purchased the iMac in November without buying Lion, and cannot seem to boot into the recovery partition (if Command-R doesnt work, try just "Option" as well), then go back to an Apple Store and ask them to reinstall Lion. They will be aware that your machine came with it if if you bought it in November.

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

  • Do i have to buy lion again for other macs

do i have to buy lion again for my other macs?

Just sign on to the App Store using the same AppleID and look at the Purchased tab.  You can download and install from there on the other Macs.
You can avoid multiple downloads by copying the Install OSx Lion app to an external drive.  This must be done before the install process completes because it's deleted from the apps directory as the last step.  You can then use that for your other Macs without another 4 Gig download.

Why view have no stored data ? And what is the reason view take more time to query ?
what happen if a view have stored data?

    user12941450 wrote:
I want to know the reason that why querying view is slower then querying a normal table?..Untrue.
For example take a table with 2laks record and a view for that table.
If i make a query like( Select name, address from table) then it works fast then select(name, address)from view..Incorrectly interpreting the results.
A view is a SQL statement. Only difference is that the SQL statement is stored in the database's dictionary. Let's consider the following view:
create or replace view foo_view as select * from empWhen you use the view as follows:
select * from foo_viewOracle sees it as follows:
select * from (select * from emp)This is no slower, or no faster, than providing the following SQL to Oracle:
select * from empSo if you observe a difference in performance between using plain SQL versus using that same SQL via a view, there are other reasons for that difference in performance. The reason is NOT that views are slower.

  • Please help...i have a windows 2012 server and it keeps closing after 30 mins...

hi. i have a windows 2012 server and it keeps closing after 30 mins...i am connected thru RDP and have looked everywhere online for a tutorial to change the setting that keeps closing it but can't find it anywhere! please help!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Have you check the timeout and reconnection setting for RDP?
Does disconnection happens on active session or Idle session?
We can configure the setting by collection properties or by GPO setting.
On collection Properties check the Timeout Tab and set the setting according to your requirement. On GPO we can find this setting on below mention path and check according to it.

Why can I only buy full albums and not individual songs?

If it's iTunes purchased music then you might be able to re-download it on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app - it will download into the Music app. If you want your other music from your computer's iTunes (e,g. music copied from CDs and playlists) then you will need to sync it from your computer's iTunes to your iPad's Music app.
