Why I have to press fn to activate speaker?

why I have to press fn key to activate speaker, and my caps lock on and off.

Yep, I found this one out the hard way. If you tripple-click the Home button it toggles that setting. Or under settings like the above poster suggested.

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

I can imagine that is frustrating as heck. My daughter has one of these and I know for a fact hers does not turn off after 10 minutes because I have to turn it off for her every night after she has fallen asleep. Below is what Apple has to say about it from a troubleshooting standpoint.
"If music stops when the iPod nano screen turns off m Make sure the earphone port is free of debris. m Make sure the earphone or headphone connector is pushed in all the way. To see an illustration, go to support.apple.com/kb/ts3700."
Are you using aftermarket ear buds or speakers when you listen to these lectures??? If so maybe it has something to due with a compatibility issue.

I open any page on Firefox and the page dimms and a box appears with number 2 and a button (ok) ,I have to press ok to continue Why does this box keep appearing on every page and site and hyow do i stop it ?

This is caused by the InternetEngine - Powering Applications! extension. If you uninstall that extension it should stop this happening.

I have to press on the graph cursors to save values form it, why?

I want to save diffrent values from a graph into excel.
My program takes a signal and then I can adjust the intervall that I want to look at and then adjust that with two cursors.
This I have succede with, the problem is that when I'm trying to save it, I first have to press the save button, then press one of the cursors to get the popup window so that I can select the right location to save. To continue to save different values i have to repeat the procedure.
I would like to just run my program and then adjust my cursor to the intervall that I like, and then press the save button to store the values in a excel document then continue to select different valuse and hit the save button to store more vaules and so on.
Is there somthing in my code that force me to press on the cursors before it can save the vaules?

I tried that, then it sort of works, but the rest of the program doesn't. My live update of the adjusted signal graph only appears after i press the Save button. Before i could manually set an interval and see the adjusted graph. And now the Stop Program button doesn't respond. But the save button work directly. Which is good.
I have replaced my DAQ assist with a simulated signal so you can test the program.
It would be most kind if you could help me with this, tutorials works for the basic understanding of certain things but not always easy to implement in your own work.

My home button keeps sticking. I have to press it about 4 or 5 times to move from an app back to home page. Very frustrating when I want to change apps in a hurry. I have had the phone for just over a year without any problems. This started about three weeks ago. is there anything i can do or must I take the phone back to the supplier?

This is usually caused by gunk building up in and around the button.

First, before you sleep your MBP, make sure you either scroll down the Apple menu to sleep your machine, or do it even more easily by pressing CMD-OPTION - DiskDrive (upper right hand corner of your keyboard). I wouldn't just close your machine to let it sleep.
It's hard to know exactly what's happening, but here are a few pointers.
1. Go to System Preferences/Energy Saver and make sure you've set a sleep time of more than two or three minutes. Your machine may be trying to sleep too early. In the same preferences, set Computer Sleep to more than ten minutes, to make sure you don't get an unintentional sleep.
2. Take a look for third-party applications you might have installed.

to enter data in fields in forms and even in the search bar I have to press the tab key. If i do not press tab the silly mac beeps at me and won't let me type. I asked the mac geniuses and they blame firefox, guessing you guys will blame mac... but it is really annoying.

I have called Verizon numerous times regarding these issues. They tell me to do different things that never help. We eventually did a factory reset and it still has the same issues. Help! It is a brand new phone and unfortunately I am in a new two year contract. Ugh. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

I have done that several times. In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly. I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time. It never does. What happens when you try? What error message do you get? Was the phone previously jailbroken or unlocked?

i've been using the phone for a few months now and i noticed recently that sometimes,when i lock the keypad, i get the "press unlock to activate keypad" message, on and on, without me touching any buttons at all. It just keeps appearing very rapidly.the backlight goes off but the screensaver won't start because of this message that keeps appearing as if i was pressing one of the buttons continuously.
whether i use the slide or the keys to lock the phone, it happens anyway.
if i unlock the keypad everything works well, no problems at all.
it doesn't happen all the time, but is really annoying when it does.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.
