Why ilife disappear after reinstalling mountain lion?

why ilife disappear after reinstalling mountain lion?

The 10.8.3 update should have left your iLife apps intact - did you do a clean install, erasing your drive? If so, then you should be able to go to the Mac App Store and download the iLife apps using the Apple ID with which you registered your computer.

    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718:
Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
If you erase install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
After installation, start (up) from OS X.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.

  • I lost iLife after reinstalling Mountain Lion

I bought my iMac in April last year, it is the 21.5 inch mid/late 2011 iMac (if I'm not wrong), the thing is I used to install lots of things in here until I decided it was worth to erase all the unimportant content, but to make myselfe sure I decided to back up in an external hard drive everything I thought it was important and then I proceded to reboot the system and enter in restore mode while startup (using cmd + r, as you may know).. Once in there I went to disk utilities and erased my HDD and after that I proceeded to reinstall Mountain Lion. Everything went OK, I entered my Apple ID and Password and the installation went through without any further problems. When I started to reconfigure everything I noticed iPhoto was missing, so I inmediately checked if iMovie and GarageBand were there, but they were not. So I logged in the Mac AppStore but there said I should bought them (which actually makes sense, because I got iLife with my iMac) but I honestly don't know what to do. I used to use a lot these softwares, and it would be nice to have them back.. Do you have any idea of what should I do?
I also would like to add that my iMac came with OS X Lion, I bought Mountain Lion personally.. if that has something to do with..
    Thanks for your attention,
PD: Please bear in mind that I'm from Argentina, any mistake you can found wasn't intencionally, sorry if you happen to find many

Thank you very much for your help and your time, this problem was in deed very simple to solve, I tried to click the buy app button just to see what happens and it turned out that was the right thing to do.
If any one has this problem here is a screenshot that will more or less tell you what you got to do:

  • Can not see hard drive on desktop after reinstalling Mountain Lion

I have erased my hard drive and reinstalled Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and now I can not see the MacIntosh HD on the desk top. Downloaded the most recent updates and restarted but still do not see the hard drive on the desk top. Any ideas?

Open Finder preferences and on the general tab check Hard disks for Show these items on the desktop.

  • After reinstalling mountain lion i got the question mark on the screen

    hi everyone,
after reinstalling mac os x 10.8 from internet recovery, mac restarts itself which is normal.
but when it starts there is a question mark on a folder symbol on the gray screen.
    what should i do?

The question mark appears when your computer can't find any bootable volume to start. This can be because of two reasons:
    1. Your computer has forgotten the startup device.
    2. The hard drive is damaged.
First of all, turn off your computer and turn it on again holding the Option (Alt) key, so you will see all the bootable volumes on the display. Choose the OS X volume and set up OS X as normal. Finally, open System Preferences > Startup Disk, and choose your OS X volume

  • After reinstalling mountain lion, iphoto is missing?

I had purchased an install disc to upgrade to snow leopard, and my MAC went to crap, so I reinstalled my original software to start from scratch.  Now, iPhoto is no where to be found!  How can I get my iPhoto back without having to purchase it?  I tried the optional install of the APPS from the install discs with no luck.  I still have garage band and imovie..but not having iPhoto is a huge problem.

You install form the original soruce - either the restore disks tha came with the computer (typically disk two - install bundled software only, a purchased iLife DVD) or the App store depending on the original source

  • Ilife disappeared after upgrading to lion OS

I am using 2011 MBP 15inch which I bought about 2 weeks ago
When I had Snow Leopard OS, I used to have all programs of iLife 11 such as iPhoto and etc.
But when I bought a legit Lion OSX from App Store and installed it, I lost all free programs which I used to have especially iLife.
    Is this a bug?
Will I be able to get my program back for free?

Exactly the same problem here, any help please?

If you can download the ML installer you can make a bootable install media by using:
    http://liondiskmaker.com/
If your Mini came with ML you can also boot to Internet Recovery
OS X: About OS X Recovery
and it will install ML. Make sure you boot to Internet Recovery and not the Recovery Partition. If to the partition you will only get Mavericks.

  • Reinstalling Mountain Lion after update to 10.8.1

    Hello
    I got a problem,
i got a Mac Mini and a MacBook unibody.
On both pc's i have the same problem i bought Mountain Lion, installed it, and updated it to 10.8.1
Now after a while my Macbook doenst startup anymore, and today my Mac Mini doesn't startup anymore,
i have to reinstall Mountain Lion again..
What the ****?? what's up? bad update??? or bad system with many bugs??

The problem isn't with the OS, it's with your system.
Boot up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
    Restore from TM backup
    Reinstall Mac OS X
    Get help online
    Disk Utility
First run Disk Utility Repair Disk, if you get errors run until no errors reported or reports "the disk cannot be fixed". Then, choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install "in place" and shouldn't effect any of your own data or settings.

  • After installing Mountain Lion, why is there Yahoo access for one user but not another?--both are administrators.

After installing Mountain Lion, why is there Yahoo access for one user but not another?--both are administrators.

We've had several instances where we have had to run chkdsk on arrays with over 1m files. Average completion time is approximately 72 hours. The maximum downtime window they have available is the 64 hour weekend window. File sizes and number of files were
much smaller then than they are now.
The idea, in theory, was to use VHDs to compartmentalize the data into smaller volumes which could be more easily managed. It would also improve performance when transferring these compartments of data as they would use sequential read/write rather than
fragmented/random. This idea was never fleshed out in entirety, they don't split data up into little containers, but simply into big ones per project. Hence the 11m files in one container that I am currently trying to diagnose.
Some other important facts: The VHD in question is mounted in B:/project/ as this server also allows remote workers to log in, but they are restricted to see only data in E:. Disks A-D are hidden via group policy.
Update: icacls is failing on a large number of files within this dataset. I counted the path characters to ensure it wasn't the 255 character limit I was encountering and verified that the paths being blocked are only about 150 characters long. Once it finishes,
I'll have to try taking ownership and then re-running it. At this point I still have no idea how long to expect. I'm running out of time as the environment will be in use again at 9AM tomorrow morning.

Has your problem been solved by the updates??
Have a similar problem. This MacBook opened all MS Office programs in Dec2012 but no longer does in Feb2013. Went to Microsoft/mac/downloads but none of the three updates would run citing a problem "version of software needed to run this update was not found on this volume".
MacBook: 7.1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz

  • After installing mountain lion the local mail boxes disappeared

after installing mountain lion the local mail boxes disappeared.

    This is my problem too:
All of my local mailboxes (On my Mac) disappeared from the sidebar.  However, I do not have the 'triangle' on the Inbox that I can turn to reveal the list of mailboxes -- that disappeared too (and nothing happens when I hover over "Inbox").  I do know that the mailboxes are still there, somewhere, because when I go to create a New Mailbox, I can navigate to "On My Mac" and the entire mailbox list shows up there in the dropdown.  How do I get them back onto my sidebar if the option to do that is no longer on the "Inbox" icon?
