Why in the world would Apple make the track pad LESS useful in OS Lion? I hate that I can't g back to the top of a web page with a singe swipe. And of course all the other gestures are totally reversed. IMHO, this was not an imporvement.

No one here works for Apple.
Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > Scroll & Zoom, and uncheck Scroll direction: Natural.

An ad for cnn floats at the top of every web page I open in safari and won't go away
For some reason an ad for the CNN ios app is permanently stuck at the top of all web pages I open in safari. There is an x for closing the ad, but clicking the x does nothing. The ad also covers part of webpages which is extra annoying and occasionally I am pulled to the App Store for no reason.
ThanksI only have one video project that I ever published to iDisk. It didn't have any music or photo files attatched to it, just a few clips stitched together. I can play these clips right now in the Event Library (so I know the source files are on my computer), but strangely, under the Project Library, the project is not there. I'm almost certain that I didn't store the project on iDisk; I just completed the video and published it to iDisk (as a .mov file I think) for family to see. I've tried to figure out how to get iDisk to stop looking for this project to no avail.
I don't know if others have experienced this, but if I click on any project and on the menu bar select Share --> Remove From --> Media Browser... it lists iPod, iPhone, iPad, tv, Computer and MobileMe. Why would MobileMe be an option here? This is the case for any video project I select. Didn't iLife '11 and/or OSX 10.8 remove all mention of MobileMe? I wonder if this is part of the problem too.
Edit: I just removed every project I have from the Media Browser. Still no luck. -

I found my wife dropping the icon of her backup file into the trash icon on the dock. She had just completed using Time machine and when to uninstall the Gdrive. I told her this was an erroneous practice. She disagreed. Who is right?

I got my code but when i try downloading it it says retry as net connection is slow, but i am on a high speed broadband and all the other sites are opening simultaneously then why this problem?
Because Apple's not spent those billions of bucks lying around on a modern, high-speed delivery system or providing DVDs for those who don't have high-speed connections or uncapped DL capabilities.

When I double click Firefox to open it, 3 Tabs automatically open. One is my home page but the other 2 are about plug ins being successfully installed. I want for only my home page to open. How do I make this stop?

When I did the latest update, my phone was wiped out completely. My laptop that I had everything on, crashed. I have a new laptop, tried to update on it and of course I couldn't without deauthorizing my account then reauthorizing. I need help! I want my ringtones and picturesd back, and can't get them. Does anyone know how to do this given my situation?

Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID? -
I'm getting messages on Apple TV that netflix and the itunes store are currently unavailable. This can't be a coincidence. Also, the iTunes store is working fine on my Mac, the message is only on the apple TV. Does anyone come across this frequently?

There is indeed a support number (which you can find on this page in "Contact Us" and you are limited to one support call in the first 90 days and if you have the AppleCare you have more than that available, so I'm not sure what you are whinning about (and it is whinning, trust me).

3. Your computer is constantly changing whether you know it or not. Do you not apply any MS upgrades (or have them automatically applied for you?) Do you not have any antivirus on your machine (which applies its own upgrades)? Do you not, ever, ever, ever, open any email message, or download that cute little movie your friend sent you, or plug in any other device (like a digital camera or flashcard reader) or any of the other hundreds of things that change the computer environment.
It would be tempting to conclude a priori that the update you applied is now the problem, but if so, how do you explain the millions of others who apply the update without issues? The difference is in the software and settings on the witches brew that is a PC. So in a sense you are right in that the old firmware worked with the mess that is your computer and now the new one doesn't -- but it ain't up to Apple to fix your computer, and impossible for them to control the environment (oh, I guess unless you buy a Mac -- "coincidentally" Mac's use firewire for the iPod :>)
I dunno -- when 90% of all issues (100% of all connection issues) can be solved with the Adaptec 4300 I tend to have a lot less patience with folks. If you want to use the mess that is USB then you'll just have to deal with the fact that MS screwed it up big time and become more knowledgable on how to handle the problems. -

I created a new apple id @icloud thinking that my regular email address wasn't acceptable for icloud but the 10 gigs I purchased are still not showing up, nor are any of the apps I've purchased showing in icloud. The additional storage would show up when iCloud is signed into the that new account.
To me it sounds like you should cancel the iCloud storage sinceyou seem not to rally need it.

I have 4 iPads and one apple Id. Two the devices record clash of clans and dragonvale individually and the other two are tied to the other two. Drives my kids nuts. How do I fix this?
Also, I'd prefer to keep the same ID on both so I will keep access to my calendar/contacts/etc on both devices. Would I be able to share reminders and voice memos and the like as well? And how often would they update each other? If I edit a contact on the 5, and the 4 is in wifi, assuming they're both on my same ID, will the contact update on the 4?

That isn't due to not having a phone number on her iPad. You can use FaceTime with any iPad using an email address as the "phone number". And if her iPad isn't a first generation iPad, if she uses the same Apple ID for FaceTime on both her iPhone and iPad, her iPhone number can be used as well (see iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage).
If her iPad is not verifying her Apple ID for FaceTime it's probably because the Apple servers are busy. Keep trying and it should verify. If you continue to have problems with this, look through the troubleshooting steps here: iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation. -

"Other" contains objects that are not categorized elsewhere. It includes, for example, iOS, mail messages, and working space.
If "Other" is more than about 1.5 gigabytes, that would be considered a lot of space. That is often caused by corrupt app(s).
You can shrink "Other" by restoring your iPhone using iTunes. Plug your iPhone in, let it sync, then choose "Restore" from your iPhone's summary page in iTunes. You can try restoring from the backup, but that may not work. If not, restore as new and selectively sync apps back. -
Why do files that I have organized into folders not stay in their folders after closing and reopening iTunes? And Why does the renaming get undone? I do this in iTunes Media/ Music.

The 2131 usually indicates firmware needs to be updated on a drive.
Head to your drivers and downloads page for your latitude at Dell, and check for updates to your firmware for your optical drives. If you're behind and you update, does that clear up the 2131? -

iMessage over cellular data might not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports. Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you are still unable to send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Verify that the contact you are attempting to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact in the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

I upgraded my MIFI 2200 (had no contract on it) to a Jetpack (with a contract) when customer service told me this 4G device would use less data because it was faster. This was not correct. Anyway, I got the device, had problems, did tech support, re-activated my MIFI. 1. Decided to return the device. Spent hours with Customer Service, then finally up to Management, they agreed to take it back and void the contact, I sent it back immediately – and instead of voiding the contact they transferred it to my MIFI! Please cancel the contract on the MIFI. 2. During the short time I had the Jetpack I continually received overage alerts, took it all the way up to 30 GB, each time I backdated the new data plan except twice when customer service did and failed to back date the increase, and once the computer locked customer service out and could not increase. The end result is I have a $495 bill, many of these alerts were false since I ended up with only 14 MG for the month, etc. I am asking that my bill be reduced significantly to reflect no overage and to compensate for these problems. Please open up a ticket for this.
I had Verizon JetPak and you will find it will eat data like crazy. I opted to sign on to ATT Uverse and configured my phones and other devices to the WiFi on the Uverse system. It took about 5 minutes to completed the configuration. I was using 10 to 12 GB monthly to support 5 devices. Even if you use Verizon DSL, you are still subjected to same GB allotment. In my area, Verizon DSL is not available. With Uverse, I have 250 GB monthly to use, and I have not even come close to using anything of that magnitude. I reduced my GB package with Verizon to 2 GB per month and since having ATT Uverse, I never use more than 1GB a month with Verizon.
I have no problem with Verizon cell phone service as we get a much stronger signal where we live than you can with ATT or any others. It is just my opinion, but if you are running multiple devices off Verizon Jetpak, you will eventually spend a fortune to keep pace. I pay $60 a month for 18 Mbps speed, although ATT have packages that cost much less. But, it saves me a bundle each month. The cost of Uverse alone is worth not having to run everything through a Jetpak.
If you have the option to use another DSL service provider in your area, I recommend dumping the Jetpak and sign on with another carrier.
