Why internal EIGRP flapping when a WAN link is flapping?

I have router A and B running EIGRP in between. Router B has a WAN connection into the carrier.
Recently the EIGRP neighboring between A and B was flapping. In the mean time the WAN link was flapping too.
Router B was running BGP over the WAN link and redistributing BGP into EIGRP.
Why the WAN link issue caused the EIGRP neighboring up and down?
Thanks
Gary

When we attempted to ping the ISP's router will a full size MTU packet, the packet gets dropped. Any packets greater than 400 bytes gets dropped.

  • Exchange 2013 Split DNS, how to get WAN clients to use public Split DNS IP when inter-office link is DOWN?!

    Hello,
I have an Exchange 2013 deployment and a LAN/WAN setup, we have many small remote WAN linked offices that can resolve to the Exchange Server's internal IP.
Outlook clients in remote WAN offices work fine as long as the link is UP since the Split Brain DNS for Exchange will resolve the internal clients to the internal IP of the Exchange server, Outlook connects up without issues.
However, in the event of loosing connection to our remote sites, they will no longer be able to resolve to the internal Exchange IP, but they still have a backup public internet that they can use. So should the inter-office connectivity fail we have it setup
so clients in remote offices can still browse the internet, etc.
However, their Outlook fails to connect because it has a cached DNS record for our Split Brain Exchange DNS setup and tries to resolve it to its internal IP, instead of refreshing the cache and grabbing the public IP of the Exchange server since now they
would be resolving it over the public internet.
Is there anything I can do with my existing configuration to allow the client to pick up the public IP of the Split DNS setup when our inter-office connection is down and the client is no longer able to use the internal IP they have cached for Exchange?
I guess I could lower the TTL on the DNS record to something like 1 minute so it does not cache the DNS record / IP for long? Is this the best approach?

    http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/lose.html
I would suggest that the best approach is to either improve the reliability of the WAN link or to configure DNS to always use the Internet path.  You might want to work with your network guy, perhaps there's a way to have your gateways automatically
switch to an Internet VPN backup when the WAN link is down or something like that.

  • WRVS4400N : DHCP not assigning IP addresses if WAN link is down

    Hello,
With the latest firmware installed (the one suporting fixed IP based on MAC), I have one problem: the DHCP server is not assigning addresses when the WAN link is down. When it is up, it generally assign IP based on the configuration binding (MAC/IP). But it sometimes fail to do so. Before using the wrvs4400n I had no issues with DHCP wrt54G and other routers.
    Any hints ?
    Thanks.

  • EEM -automatic shut down or switch over of WAN link in OSPF when packet drop increase

    Hi,
    Need help..
can any one help me how can EEM help for automatic shut down or switch over of WAN link in OSPF when packet drop increase a predefined level.
I have a set up different branches connected together...OSPF is the routing protocol and need to communicate with two branches via hub locations.
need to shut or switch some percent of traffic from primary to back up when packet drop in the link.

I am not sure EEM can do what you want.
Another option could be to use SLA tacking/monitoring. But you will fall back to the new route when you lose some percentage of pings, you can't switch only part of the traffic.
    I hope it helps.

  • Is a L3 switch able to receive a WAN link? if the WAN circuit presentation is ethernet?

    Hi experts,
The question is if a L3 switch is able to receive a WAN link which is Ethernet, at the same way than a router?

To add to what Jody has already posted, L3 switches often lack features commonly found on routers.  Often such features are WAN related.  Jody mentioned one common WAN feature, NAT, but they might also lack certain hardware resources, such as sufficient capacity to take one or more full Internet route tables.
Even when running across MetroE clouds, often LAN L3 switches are still a bit "weak", for such usage, which is why Cisco has a series of MetroE switches.
The forgoing doesn't mean you cannot use a LAN L3 switch, just you need to be careful matching what the switch can do with your WAN feature needs.

  • Major bug in Safari 6: previous domain persists in URL bar when clicking a link

I've noticed an extremely weird and significant bug in Safari 6 / Mountain Lion:
When I'm navigating through a site, sometimes when clicking a link, Safari tries to open the corresponding URL on a previously visited site's domain instead of the current site.
    For example:
First, I'm surfing on apple.com. Then, I navigate to another site, say estibot.com. On estibot.com, I click on a link that should take me to:
    http://www.estibot.com/tools.html
Instead, safari takes me to http://www.apple.com/tools.html, which of course produces a 'not found' error. Nothing wrong with the link; this is purely Safari's doing.
This happens often, and apparently can happen with any site.
In other words, the domain name of a previously visited site persists in the URL, and the page that I'm trying to navigate to is added to the domain of the PREVIOUS site, not the actual site I'm using.
This is a major bug and is often rendering Safari useless for my workflow. How could a bug like this end up in the finished product?
    Cheers
    Esa

Having the same problem. It is randomly consistent, i.e. some links consistently get redirected to a specific domain. For example, I am experiencing this issue when using Basecamp and links being misdirected to a specific client's website. However, the criteria for why some links redirect and some do not appears random. This issue does not occur in Firefox. This leads me to believe that it is not a DNS issue. May be a Safari/DNS pair issue or solely a Safari issue. We do use an internal DNS (OS X Server) for browsing internal development wbsites which then rolls over to a public DNS. Again, this problem has never occured in Firefox and consistently occurs in Safari.
    Safari Version 6.0 (7536.25)
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
    On a side note...
Safari's strong-handed rewriting in the address bar as you type is crazy anoying. Or should I say "too helpful?" It seems to break the first rule of usuability: don't change the interface while the user is interacting with it.
And the unified address/search is rediculously annoying for developers who use non-complient top level domains for internal development (such as .dev)
And the new inspector seems like a huge step backwards in usuability. (debatable considering I'm probably not as advanced as some developers.)

  • Lap not joining over a wan link

    hi
i have 2 wism running on 6509 chassis and i have access points in remote branches. the lap is not joining the wism. here is the situation:
    lap can ping the controllers
    lap is getting ip address
option 43 is there on the vlan
dns entry for the wlc is there.
however, when i checked the lap boot: it s getting an ip address and gives the command prompt.
the below debugging on the wlc gives nothing:
    debug capwap events
    debug capwap errors
    debug mac addr <mac addr>
the wan link is private wan running ospf on both routers from each end.
I see no point why this lap is not joining
    any idea?

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that all attachments in Outlook are opened slowly since updating Outlook 2003 to 2013. Please confirm whether all users encounter this issue. Also check whether the issue continues in cached mode and in OWA.
Based on your post, I suggest we can try to disable the following add-ins to check whether the issue persists:
    Acrobat PDFMaker office com addin
    symantec endpoint protection outlook addin
If there is any updates, please feel free to let us know.

Why is it that when I am trying to install an adobe product, I get 33% of the way through and then it gives me an error "unable to load metafile"??  It happened with Reader and now with Flash player.  With the Reader, I was able to find a different installation link using the troubleshooting guide.  I cannot find the same with flash player.  Please tell me how to install Flash player because there is a website that I cannot even view without it.  BTW That is annoying that I cannot even see the website without flash player

Flash Player for Mac OS X
For Adobe Reader go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • "Internal error occurred" when launching Acrobat Pro X (AAMEE 3.1.150.0)

AAMEE 3.1.105.0 generated packages run fine when pushed to Macs that do not have an existing previous version of CS.
However, if pushed to a Mac that has CS4 installed, CS6 installs but Acrobat Pro X will not launch ("Internal error occurred").
We are using the latest Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium installer DMGs from licensing.adobe.com and we are following the standard workflow.
I know Adobe's position is "We don't recommend or support concurrent installs of Creative Suite" (I get that).
Since OS X lacks package management (ala Yum, RPM, etc.), the term "Uninstall" is vague, but we appreciate Adobe's "cleaner tool".
Unfortunately the "cleaner tool" is only marginally effective, it leaves a mess behind.
And...when "cleaner tool" is used to remove CS4, it whacks CS6.
Wait...it gets worse...when "cleaner tool" is used, we now can't push our CS6 package to the Mac...we get...<drumroll>..."Internal error occurred" when launching Acrobat Pro X.
Someone shoot me...please put me out of my misery.
Why can't deploying CS6 be as simple as...
    http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3938350&CAWELAID=479925582
    Don

OK, we resolved the issue. Apparently there was a ~/Library/ColorSync folder present, not owned by the logged in user, and the logged in user had no access. Given OS X's domain model, it looks like Acrobat Pro X looks at that folder when it launches, even though it doesn't need to, and it can't get into it, so it tosses up the error.
Removing the folder (since it's not needed) resolves the issue. If the folder was needed, we would change ownership and permissions so Acrobat Pro X could access it.
    Problem solved.
    Thanks,
    Don

  • Why start iCloud drive when Yosemite is not ready? Once accidental start iCloud drive, no downgrade option?

When IOS8 is release there is a simple switch to start iCloud Drive.  It is a nightmare.  My iWork field can no longer be sync with my Mac and Mac Air.
There is no downgrade method to resume the usual iCloud support.  Yosemite is not ready now.
There should be a warning for anyone who may not know the link between iCloud drive and Yosemite.
Why start iCloud drive when Yosemite is not ready for download?

Give Apple feedback on this at http://www.apple.com/feedback
Unfortunately the iOS 8 release was made fully functional even though some of the functions are not useable at this time.  That should have been clearer so the user knew not to activate a function that would not work fully.

Yeah I find this perplexing as well. I'm guessing it has something to do with Opalis origins perhaps.

  • FXO traffic is going over Wan link after enabling QoS

    Hi,
We have CCM 5.0,2811 voice gateway,1 4FXO and 1 g.shdsl card on it. 4 Telco lines are on 4FXO card.CCM is at the other side of g.shdsl line.Topology like that,
    2811 ---------------- CCM
    4fxo g.shdsl
When a call receives from FXO port, system is working normally without QoS. When we enable QoS traffic, traffic is going over wan link then return again.Because of that, delays and timeouts occuring.Router's config is at the attachment. Please Help!
    Thank you

Check your H323 gateway config in CCM to be sure the Media Termination Point Required box is unchecked. Using MTP forces the call to terminate on the closest MTP resource which is likely at your CCM site.

  • Why internal order settlement is require

why internal order settlement is require
and in internal orders    acctual cost is plan cost is 100 and acctual is 150
then which amount we have to settle in internal order
    regards
    venkatareddy

    Hey Venky,
An internal order is usually used as an interim collector of costs and an aid to the planning, monitoring, and controlling processes needed. When the job has been completed, you settle the costs to one or more receivers (cost center, fixed asset, profitability segment, and so on).
During settlement, some or all of the plan or actual costs incurred on an object are allocated to one or more receivers. The system automatically generates offsetting entries to credit the sender object. The debit postings assigned once to a sender object remain in place, even after settlement to a receiver (and can therefore be displayed). The costs settled are updated on the corresponding receiver object and displayed in reporting.
To be able to settle an order, you must have saved a settlement rule in each of the senders. This settlement rule determines where the costs are to be settled to. You can achieve this in two ways:
Settlement to One Receiver:You use this basic form of order settlement to completely settle the costs collected on the internal order. This is either to a cost center, or a G/L account under a settlement cost element. The system generates the appropriate settlement rule from the information contained in the internal order master data.
Comprehensive Settlement:Definition of a comprehensive settlement rule gives you more settlement possibilities, for example, you can:Settle costs to a wide range of receivers (project, sales order, profitability segment, and so on).
Specify how the costs are to be distributed between receivers.
Define the cost elements under which the sender is to be credited and the receivers debited.
Constraints:You can only use one of these settlement methods at a time: For example, if you defined settlement to one cost center in the master data for an internal order, then you can only define a more comprehensive settlement rule once you have deleted the first rule.
Hope this helps. Requesting to reward points please.
