    Go elsewhere:
Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also means that you will not get any support from Apple, including from this Apple forum. Jailbreaking can't be discussed in this Apple forum.

  • Is there a reason why the iOS 7 update put my phone into recovery mode?

I was prompted to update my phone, which I did, and when it finished downloading, I got the "Connect to iTunes" screen, which I thought was odd. The iTunes tells me it was put into recovery mode. Is there any reason as to why this happened?

Oh no! My iTunes doesn't want to recognize my phone now either.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont sync music it always gets stuck on a different song everytime and the puts the ipod into recovery mode!

    Hey guys
My dads 2nd gen ipod shuffle will not sync music. I try to sync the music by autofill and manually and it freezes for a long time, and then says the device cannot be found. It then puts the ipod shuffle into recovery mode and i then have to restore the ipod and loose all the data.

The shuffle may be losing its data connection to the computer during the time it is syncing.  If you have not already, you should shut down (power off) the computer.  Disconnect all USB devices (except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used), including hubs.  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port.  Try repeating the action that is causing the error.
If that does not help, select the shuffle in iTunes and go to its Settings screen.  There is a checkbox for Enable disk use.  If that setting is checked, uncheck it.  If it is not checked, check it.  Basically, reverse the current setting.  Apply the change.  See of that makes any difference.

  • How can i put my ipod into recovery mode i've tried to put it in recovery mode but it won't help me

i've turned off my ipod and i held the home button and plugged in the USB but nothing happened

Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • HT1414 after i updated to IOS 6, It put my ipod into recovery mode. HELP

I've tried numerous times but, Whenever I try to restore my Ipod it says " there was a problem downloading the software for the Ipod "Ipod" .The network connection timed out."
"Make sure your network setings are correct and your network connection is active. or try again later." What does this mean? i know my network connection is active. this only happened after i updated, and my ipod is not jailbroken either.

    - Disabling the computer's security software (antivirus and firewall) during the download and update usually resolves that problem.
    - If not not a manual install as included here:

  • Why is my phone always going into recovery mode?

this is the second time this happened to my phone. I was flicking around through twitter and all of a sudden my phone just shut off, after i turned it back on after about 5 minutes it turned off and wouldnt turn back on. i plugged it in and it says it is in recovery mode.
This is the SECOND time this has happened and when i go to restore and recover an unknown error keeps occuring. please help me i have had 3 iphone 4's before this and my dad will behead me if i need another one.
Btw i had this metal sticker/case thing on it, that couldnt be the probem could it?

When you restore it using the computer, are you loading your backup onto the device again?  If you are, try restoring it and setting it up as new.  If it continues after being set up as new, then, yes, you will want to get it serviced.

  • Why did my Iphone4s go into recovery mode?

Ok so i was on my Iphone as usual and it said my storage was full, I forgot my phone was on low battery so it died and showed the recovery mode screen. After a little bit it went completely dead so i put it on my charger. It still had the recovery mode screen I dont have a problem with doing a restore but what i want to know is why did it go into recovery mode? I searched this up earlier and the only problems people had were basically after they tried to update it it went into recovery mode. I didnt try to update it or anything like that it just kinda died and went into recovery mode? what is the cause of this? Sorry i cant remember the operating system it was on but it was ios 7 of coarse. Pls help,

I don't know, but try forcing a hard reset to fix it.
If this fixes it, there should be no issues with the device and you're good to go.
    1. Hold down the lock and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds or so
    2. Release both buttons
    3. Hold down the Lock button until you see the apple logo, and hopefully not the recovery mode screen
    Hope this helps!

  • My ipod touch has been disabled for 22 million minute. i cant put it into recovery mode because my lock button doesnt work. how do i fix it??? please help

    please help

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

  • HT1212 my ipod is disabled and will not go into recovery mode. it will not respond to being turned off

I've tried to send the ipod into recovery mode and it will not restore. it shows that it cannot connect ot itunes because its passcode protected. its disabled due to my son forgetting his password.

  • Iphone 3g randomly goes into recovery mode all the time?

I have an Iphone 3g version 4.3.5 (8L1). It works fine and i've never dropped it or anything like that. But the first time the problem happened i had just got done sending a text, pushed the lock button, and put it in my pocket. Then a few minutes later i pulled it out to check it and it wouldnt turn on. I held the lock button down and the connect to itunes icon came up, but nothing else. No emergency call option or anything. it wouldnt go away. i connected to itunes and it said it was in recovery mode. I tried to restore it but it came up with an error. i left it and tried again later. i restored but some things were erased. then it worked fine again. but later that night it did it again. so i just plugged it into the charger. in the morning i tried turning it back on again and it turned on without the connect to itunes icon. worked fine all day. but it does this every now and then. when i plug it in it goes back to normal after 10-20 mins. its annoying tho and if im not home my fone is stuck like that until i get back. why does it keep randomly going into recovery mode?

    1.  The latest iOS version available for the iPhone 3G is 4.2.1, not 4.3.5.  Do you actually have an iP3GS or was your iP3G hacked to install 4.3.5?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939
    2.  "I tried to restore it but it came up with an error."  What EXACT error?
    3.  "i restored but some things were erased"  What "things"?  Did you get an error again.  Were you restoring as new or using a backup?
    4.  Did you ever restore the phone as NEW without using a backup?

  • IPod in recovery mode, iTunes won't recognize

I'm very frustrated. I tried upgrading my iTouch to the 2.0 software, but it sent my iPod into recovery mode. When I plug my iPod into my computer, iTunes won't recognize my iPod at all. If I plug it into another computer it is recognized and I can restore it. I've repeated this about 3 times. What's going on?
