  • On my iPhone notes don't sync??

The notes on my iPhone 4S don't sync to my iPad or MacBook.  They are tied to the 'account' On My iPhone.
I have enabled iCloud on the MacBook and on the iPhone.
I am running IOS 7.0.3 and Mac OS 10.9
Can I somehow merge the notes with the @me.com account that is also shows up in the phone's settings?  Would that even make a difference?
I have a feeling I am missing something obvious but just as obviously don't have a clue what it might be.
Anyone have an idea I might try?
    Thanks in advance

I don't think my question was as clear as it could have been.
The iPhone shows two accounts in "Settings" --> "Notes" : an @me.com account and "On My iPhone".  The latter is the default account.
Notes tied to the @me.com account sync across the MacBook running Mavericks, the iPhone and the iPad, both of which are running 7.0.3.
So, it seems to me that the problem is not in some failure to set up iCloud syncing but rather this "On My iPhone" account.  The iCloud syncing routines need to somehow get to it and get it to the 'cloud'.  As you probably know the iPad has a similar "On My iPad" account.  Are these accounts intended to remain tied to the named device or are the actually candidates for syncing via the cloud??
    Am I mistaken?

  • ICal and reminders on Macbook don't sync with iCloud

Just now when iCal crashed on my MacBook Pro I realise that it hasn't been syncing with iCloud (lost al lot of appointments).
Any change made on my iPad, iPhone and on icloud.com syncs perfectly; even back to my macbook!
The rest on my laptop (notes, iWork apps, mail, contacts) all seem to work and sync perfectly with iCloud.
However iCal and Reminders made on my laptop just don't sync to iCloud!
The other way around works nicely (reminders and calendar appointments from iPad, iPhone and iCloud.com appear promptly on the macbook).
I have tried everything i could find (restarting computer, resetting icloud prefferences, log out and in from icloud, starting new calendar, checking icloud account). Nothing works...
Any change made from my macbook just doesnt make it to other devices. From other devices back to my mac do work.
On my macbook all calendars I have are in iCloud.
iCloud is active (with same login as for other devices)
Would be great if someone could help me with this one!
    Thanks!

I have something similar and i will try to explain with my rusty english.
I have an ID on iCloud but i can't sync the iCal events.
On my mac there is everythign (appointment, notes birthdays and so on). On my iCloud there is nothing.
I suppose was something related with the old ID  (one just for ichat, not one of the ID that you pay to receive extra services or a @me.com account).
Now, as soon as the icloud features was installed on my Macbook Air I signed a new ID and initially everything worked fine. Emails on Mail and  contacts were syncronized properly but with the new ID. i did not check iCal account.
So i tried also with the old one (the ichat ID) and all was sync. So i realized that maybe Apple recognized same account or name and merge all the ID in just one.
    I was wrong.
The 2 ID's are not linked.
further checks add also this new weird stuff. in any case i cant sync ical accounts. i tried to switch from one to another ID. no way. i checked preferences in iCal on the mac. everything is fine. no way.
    do uu have any idea?

  • IPhone events don't sync to iCal

    Problem Summary:
Events created on my iPhone do not sync over to my iCal on my computer.
    Tech Specs:
    * iPhone 4S, running iOS 6.1.3
    * MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.6.8
    * Sync via cable directly onto mac (not wifi, not iCloud)
    Potentially Useful Observations:
    * Events created on iCal do sync back to iPhone; only iPhone --> iCal fails.
    * Partially edited histories of events sometimes also sync as duplicates back to iPhone (ex: on iCal on my computer I create an event "event 4" to occur at 2 pm, then I edit it to be "event 5" at 4 pm instead, then I sync my phone.  My phone will get both an "event 4" @ 2, and an "event 5" @ 4 appear in its mobile iCal app, while the iCal on my computer only retains the most recent version -- "event 5" @ 4).
    * Roughly 1/3 to 1/2 the time I try to sync, I get the following error:
However, the phone is still connected, and I can continue to interact with it through iTunes after the failed sync.  iCal event syncing fails regardless of whether or not this error occurs.
(Failed) Strategies I Have Tried to Fix / Diagnose the Problem:
    * Restarting iTunes
    * Restarting computer
    * Creating a new "test calendar" in iCal (it experienced the same syncing problems)
    * Trying both the "All Calendars" or "Selected Calendars" syncing options in the "Info" tab in the iTunes phone syncing menu
    * Resetting sync history through iSync preferences
    * Deleting the calendar cache file in ~/Library/Calendars.
    * Various combinations of the above (although if there is a specific combo you think would work, please let me know in case I did not try it)
Any suggestions or pointers to other posts offering different suggestions beyond what I have already tried (I did some browsing before posting) would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Sean

I just encountered a similar problem after updating from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion with my old iPod touch (iOS4). Phononic's suggestion to delete the cach file in ~/Library/Calendars is close. Try this:
    - in iCal, make a backup (File>Export>Calendar Archive)
    - close iCal.
    - delete the ~/Library/Calendars directory (or rename it ~/Library/Calendars.bak)
    - open up iCal. There should be no events.
    - sync your device through iTunes. This should remove all entries on your device.
    - in iCal, restore the backup (File>Import)
    - sync your device through iTunes again. This should restore all entries.
Seems to work so far, but haven't tested it on all my devices yet.
In Mountian Lion, there is a trick to locate the \Library directory. In Finder, ,selct "GO", then press the <option> key. "Library" will appear in the dropdown. Calendars is in there.

  • IOS 8.1 (iPad mini) and Yosemite (MacBook) don't sync using iCloud

iPad mini (new) using IOS 8.1 and MacBook late 2008 using Yosemite do not sync using iCloud.  iCloud created with both devices and iCal and Contacts selected but iCloud is empty in Finder.

iTunes is a mess. On the sidebar on the left there is a "On My Device" section. It shows everything *except* the apps. Above that there is a "settings" section. That's where the apps are. That's a "setting"?
The device handling needs a complete overhaul. There are many many people who have had an iPad or iPhone for some time, but do not own a Mac. Based on climbing Mac sales, clearly some of those people are deciding "I like this iPhone so much I'm going to get a Mac!" So they get one and run into this train wreck.
Even now, with the iPad selected, I go to the View menu, select View Options...,  and.....nothing. No window, no dialog, no indication of anything. Turns out that menu item is not applicable when a device is selected. Even with the original 128k Mac (my first Mac) they had this sorted out - dim the menu item when it's not applicable. Here we are 30 years later and they get it wrong.

  • New Events Created on iPhone Still Don't Sync to iCal 3

I have been having the same problems that others have had:  events that I create on my iPhone do not sync with iCal since I upgraded to 10.5.
But now I noticed something even more bizarre.  After upgrading to 10.5.1, the pop-up menu in Itunes "Put new events created on the iPhone into this calendar" has switched from one of my calendars to a calendar labeled "Home."  The only problem is I don't have a calendar called "Home."  Nor does this "Home" calendar show up in other contextual menus in either iCal or Mail.  Odd.

I found a solution that worked for me. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6002974&#6002974 said to Export and delete my calendars. I did that. As soon as I did though, I got a merging problem. I followed what http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5772325&#5772325 said and replaced my iPhone calendar with my iCal data (of course I made sure important events were in iCal first). But they talk to each other now and all is well in the universe again.

  • New iphone contacts don't sync to my address book

IF I add a contact to my phone (exp - Living Social) then sync my phone to my computer, the Living Social contact does not show up on my computer in my address book....

    Hey,
I also have this problem - do you have any solution?
I have the most up to the date verion of system on my iphone and of itunes.
I had just tried to sync my contacts from phone to windows contacts, process was quick and uniterrupted. when I unplugged iphone from pc I checked windows contacs file and part of the contacts indeed was copied. But that were only those that were in the SIM card. All of those that I added manually on iphone is not copied onto the computer.
    What can I do?

  • Photo App on iPhone 5 has "syncing" message at bottom.

I synced my iPhone 5 to my mac and the photos load to iPhoto fine and the phone syncs fine. But, when I go into the Photos app on my iphone there is a "syncing" message at the bottom with a pinwheel.
Any advice on how to deal with this?

    Hello, dangles8.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would first start with forcing all open applications to close and power cycle the device.  Test opening the Photo App on your device to see if they load.  If the issue persists, see the second article below.

  • IPhone can not be synced. The required file can not be found

I got the message that "iPhone can not be synced. The required file could not be found." I suspected it had to do with photos because it was always in the middle of that when the error message came up. Re started everything. Unchecked photo sync and it synced except I would like to have the photos sync. Any ideas on why it won't sync when I check the option to sync photos to phone?

Hi folks. Am REALLY struggling here and hoping for some help. I too am constantly getting the 'iPhone can not be synced' message since upgrading to a new MacBook and trying to sync my iPhone 3GS. Have tried updating to latest iPhone software and hasn't helped. Have tried all the stuff mentioned above (dumping that file etc) and no luck. When I go to my sync page for photos, even if i un-tick the sync photos option altogether, this error keeps appearing. Very odd and very frustrating. Can't sync - seems to stall at last step of the process every time.
I'm guessing it is photo related as the pics on my iPhone are now all lowres and blurry, and it is asking for sync to iTunes to get high res images onto the phone.
Also have problem going the 'other way'! WHen I go to iPhoto on Mac and try to download new photos taken on iPhone.. I keep getting the message 'The following file could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format."
    help please
    Nick

  • Why does my calendar not sync?

I cloud calendar on Ipad, Iphone, Macbook, not in sync?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • Syncing messages between iPhone 6 and Macbook Pro

I don't seem to be able to sync messages between my iPhone 6 and my Macbook Pro (using 10.10.1).  Trying to follow the online discussion, but left scratching my head.  Help, help.

    Hi Hawgjohn,
The new continuity features with iOS 8 are awesome, but they do take some setup to work properly.  Luckily Apple has a big guide on how to set up all of the continuity features (including text messaging from your Mac) here: Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support.
Browse through that article and find the section that is relevant to your issue and follow the instructions

  • Why does my google calendar sync perfectly to iCal on my Macbook Pro but not my iPhone 4?

The question as title is basically my problem.  Before I got my MacBook Pro I used my iPhone 4 (with iOS 5) to use the iCal app to edit my google calendar.  Events synced perfectly.  After getting my MacBook Pro things still seemed fine as well.  I was editing my calendar on iCal on my MacBook Pro, on Google's on-line Calendar App from other computers, and also on my iPhone 4 through the iCal App.  Suddently events were not syncing any longer.  I don't know what is the problem.  Things changed on iCal on the MacBook Pro still syncs to Google's online Calendar App and vise versa, but I can't do a thing with my iPhone 4 iCal.
Any suggestions?  I've tried deleting and resyncing my google account to my iPhone without any success.
    Thanks in advance.
    Barry

    Hi Matt,
I found my own solution to this problem and I think you can get it to work as well.  The thing is that you'll need to make your Google calendar your only calendar.  This means that you'll not want to have a Home or Work iCal because that stuff may not sync well with your Google calendar, but the Google Calendar data will appear within iCal on your iOS and Mac computer without any problems.
Before you do any thing I suggest, you must make sure that everything that you want on your calendar is on your on-line Google calendar.  If something is not there and you want it there, the thing you'll need to do is manually add it.  There is no work around that I have found for this.
    Next, on your computer:
    1. Go to System Preferences > iCloud
    2. Make sure that Calendars is not selected.  You don't want your computer or iOS devices to be confused with the iCal Home / Work, etc. calendars.  So let's not sync them.
    3.  Go to System Preferences > Mail, Contacts & Calendars
    4.  Delete Your Google account there
    5.  Go to System Preferences > Mail, Contacts & Calendars
    6.  Re-add your Google account
Now you should be able to go into iCal on your computer and find that your Google calendar is there.
You will need to do a similar thing with your iOS device.
    1.  Settings > iCloud > Turn off 'Calendars'
    2.  Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Delete Gmail Account
    3.  Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Re-add Gmail Account
This should make it so that you can use your Google calendar and it will be synced to your Mac computer, iOS device, and the Internet (Google's Calendar Website).
You can see that this is in a sense a workaround in that you can't sync your iCal Home/Work calendars (or other calendars) created with iCloud to Google.  I'm thinking that's the problem I ran into before.  Anyway it works for me because I only need the one calendar and others are using Google that I need easy access to.
Let me know if you run into problems and remember you need to confirm that all your data is saved on the google calendar on-line (you can check through Google's website) before doing any of the steps above.
