Why is the months old 10.5.6 update back up as of last night????
Apple early March 21, 2009 put a months old 10.5.6 update back up.......I installed 10.5.6 months ago.....
I called support, and they said it may have some changes to it.....but even if i wanted to install a "new updated 10.5.6 i would not be able to right? the installer would see i already have 10.5.6 and would not install....i would have to go back and install 10.5.5 or an earlier version and then re-install the so called newer 10.5.6 right? What is the deal here on the just put up 10.5.6????
Sha1 digest is Identical to the original update. They haven't changed anything but the wording.
Previously it said 10.5.1 - 10.5.5 was required before installation, now it says 10.5.0 -10.5.5.
They were right the first time (at least for best results), my experience (and many others) has
shown if installed on 10.5.0, it may not work properly and in many cases it refuses to
install on 10.5.0., and since they apparently haven't modified it (according to the sha1 digest)
I assume the installation issues on 10.5.0 still exist.

I certainly hope that the company doesn't get arrogant like it seems to do when forcing people trying to get free apps to put in credit card details.
I suspect it wouldn't be too much work to allow users to try it out first by using some free apps and when they are personally ready they can purchase to their little hearts desire.
Poor showing from this perspecitive and easy to fix.Never put your credit card info into iTunes as Apple credit card security is horrible. There are many cases of credit card problems with Apple. My credit card was compromised 2 weeks after creating an Apple account. That was the ONLY online usage of my credit card.
Apple does NOT follow PCI compliance which is the credit card industry standards for credit card data protection. It requires all companies to NOT store credit card information online because (surprise, surprise Apple!) it can be hacked.
Why does Apple need to store the credit card data and put the information at risk and why do they not follow industry (PCI Compliance) guidelines - especially for free aps or updates? -
Why does closed documents always open up again when I use the program
Why is it that recently opened documents always opens up whenever I reopen the program to access other files? The previous opened file will always reopen again automatically whenever I access the program to open other files. This has happened after I upgraged to 10.7 and, so far, occurs in Preview and Pages. I've not used other applications so I don't know if it happens with those as well, i.e., Numbers, etc. Any help with debugging this would be appreciated.
Mate - it's not a bug... it's a feature called Resume.
In essence, if you don't close a window before you quit the program, you will get that window back again when you next open the program.
You can change this behaviour in System Preferences. Click on General and untick "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps". -
Why does Write File.vi put a square in front of the data?
I am write a program to run a 601PRO Safety Analyzer using the serial port. I am trying send the results from my program to either a text file or an Excel file. If I use Write to Spreadsheet File.vi I can't get the time/date stamp to work, plus I would like to send text like operators name and serial number of the device under test. If I use the Write File.vi, I get a square in front of my data. I have version 6.0 on Windows NT. Any ideas?
Try using the "Array to spreadsheet string" function to make the data you
need to write Excel-compatible. Then you can append the required data to
the string (After each carriage return if you need to add an X-axis later or
simply to the beginning of the string if you need to record operator etc.).
Once the string is finished, use the "Write characters to file" function to
write the file and hey presto.
Things to remember
Use the same seperator character (Tab by default) when adding your own data.
Don`t forget to terminate every line with a carriage return.
I haven`t done this in version 6, but I presume the base functions remain
the same.
A notice to Natrional Instruments : A "Write to spreadsheet" function with a
"Header" function would be really nice.....(Perhaps

I just downloaded Itunes 10. When I download video podcast they save in a individual folder with the podcasts name.tmp, then inside the folder is the video file just named DOWNLOAD. This didnt happen in the previous versions of itunes why is this happening in Itunes 10? How can I change so that the files save as the name of the podcast.
Some users seem to be having issues with the latest build (10.2.2) where files are not moved/renamed after downloading. It works fine for me in a test library so I'm not quite sure what the issue is. You may find things sor themselves out if you turn off Keep iTunes Media folder organised and then turn it back agaqin (assuming you use that feature). Hopefully the next update isn't too far away.
Alternatively you can try my script ConsolidateByMoving which should move selected files that are in the "wrong" place to their standard iTunes locations.

I shot a video on my iPhone 4s last night and it won't download to my PC (running XP) or upload to facebook. It is only about 4 mins long and 690MB. I have successfully downloaded a couple of other videos of similar length so don't understand why there are problems with this one. It plays perfectly on the iPhone.
I have tried manually copying it and using the scanner and camera wizard, both download the file but it is 0 bytes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To properly diagnose the problem it's important to understand the environment. First off, what web browser are you using to view this content? Safari, Firefox, Chrome or something else? If you're using, for example, Safari have you tried watching the same video in Firefox or Chrome and is there any improvements? Are you certain it's a flash video that you're working or is it something else that's using a browser plug-in?
If you've got a first generation MacBook Air with the Intel GMA X3100 I'm not surprised that Football Manager run poorly on it, especially if it's a newer version of the game. If you have the NVidia 9400M it should handle it a little better but don't expect optimum performance, regardless the MBA is still running a shared GPU. -

When I either leave my mac book pro open, but idle long enough for it to go to sleep or close the top and put it to sleep, the only way to light up the screen again is to diconnect the mag. connect power cord. Any ideas why and/or how to correct this problem?
So this is what I got when I took my computer into the apple store to have it diagnosed.
After the apple technician performced several tests, the only thing that fixed the issue was an SMC reset. Based on this he figures it is probably a software or firmware issue that is going on. He is a little concerend how ever that the fans of the comupter don't reach maximal rpm when the computer is displaying the issue. So he recorded the problem, and told me to just perform the SMC reset as needed for the next couple months and wait for a new update from apple. If the issue persists I am to go back to the apple store and they will take the appropriate steps.
He said an SMC reset doesn't hurt the computer in any way, so its safe to do. I am gonna contact blizzard and let them know about the issue as well because if it is software, it could be their game (Diablo 3) that is causing the issue as well. If I hear of anything new i will let you know. So get on the blizzard form and let them know of the issue to fix the problem faster.

The unlocked IPhone 4S models will not be available until November, Why is that? Why would Apple do that? I should be able to buy a factory unlocked Apple iPhone 4S when it comes out! I travel all over the world, and so that is why I need one like that. It is unfair to the consumer, and frankly turning away customers like myself willing to pay high dollar to Apple for their product, who can I speak with to complain about this, because I know their are factory unlocked iPhone 4S' sitting in a warehouse somewhere just waiting to be shipped, and I want one. I know why, cause Apple signed contracts with each carrier so the carrier could increase their sales making customers sign 2 year contracts, I get it, I own my own business, but the delay of releasing factory unlocked ones is just not right and I should be able to buy one without having to buy it over in the UK where it is unlocked when it comes out right away, I should be able to buy it in my own country! These business practices we practice in the US need to stop, their is a demand that needs to be met with consumers like myself who don't need subsidized iPhone's with 2 year contracts with carriers and don't mine paying full price for an unlocked one, it is unethical in a sense, forcing the customer to buy it with a carrier contract and NOT giving the customer the option to buy it full price and own it themselves, OR, making the consumer wait a month for that option to be available. THEY SHOULD BE RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! THAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!!!!!!

If you want to use your exisiting Apple ID on your iPad, you need to:
1. Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign out the new ID, and then sign on the old one
2. Go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account, and the sign back onto iCloud using the old ID
You still have not indindated why you are saying that using your old ID originally "didn't work". What do you mean by that? Did you get some sort of error when you tried to sign on with your exisiting Apple ID?

The iPod sees the new computer as a new iTunes library. You can only sync with one iTunes library. However, you can manage music among disfferent computers. See:

Even I cant believe this is happening again! i'm once again asking for help with my account. I guess I spoke too soon! I really can't believe this nightmare is not over yet! My account is still wrong. The credit that I was due totaled $63.00 I am looking at a message on my phone saying that $21.01 was credited which makes my balance $219.72. I received a text the following day that says, I processed your credit of $30.00 and your new balance $216.73 how is that possible? None of the late fees were credited and the amount due for my monthly charges are wrong. Before any changes were made to my data plan back in Nov. My monthly charges were $140.00, I needed my hot spot back and i was told that the hot spot will increase my bill $10 for each phone that totals $20. The customer rep that change my data plan at that time also gave me a credit of $20 to compensate for the increase until I had time to talk with customer service about the mix-up with my Hot spot. I originally had the hot spot, but the rep that change my plan almost a year prior told me nothing was changing except I was getting more for less money. I explained to that rep that I need my hot spot 4 times a year...and I don't want my plan to have any changes. To verify what I'm telling u check my account and see that I called from Albany New York wanting to know where my hot spot was and I was told I didn't have the hot spot on my account since the last data change! I lost money once again due to the verizon rep's. so my current data plan the rep promised would increase $20 which makes my monthly charges that were $140 prior to the change $160 after the hot spot was returned to my account. Then I was given a $12 credit per month for 12 months because of so many mistakes made to my account so with that $12 credit my monthly charges should $148 + surcharges + taxes and that's not what I see. I do know this much right now my account is in such a shambles I can hardly see the light at the end if there is an end! I need real help!

When I close a youtube video or some other video and even after closing the tab the sound from the video continue to be played. As a matter of fact I have even closed Firefox and re-started Firefox and it plays again. I even went and turned off the computer and re-started the computer and then Firexox and the video sound was still there playing. WHY is this happening???.
Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin. Sometimes it's necessary to uninstall then reinstall that plugin.
Uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Now launch Safari and try a video.
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
You may also need to delete the cache associated with Safari .
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go the move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video.
