Why is 7.1 update using 1GB of iCloud storage

After I installed iOS7.1 my iCloud storage jumped 1GB. I've turned off and deleated everyting and it's still showing 1GB being used. Has anyone else noticed this? Can it be fixed?

Your devices have settings and preferences to be backed up, like wallpapers, home screen layouts, etc. These take up space even if you choose to back up NO apps.
Also, your contacts, calendars and iCloud emails count against your storage as well.
Last but not least, if you use a Mac, open Finder and hit command shift G, type in ~\Library and go to mobile document folder. If you have accidentally created some folder (not by an iOS/Mac app), the content inside counts against storage, but won't show up anywhere on Sorage Mngment.

  • Can an iTunes gift card be used to purchase iCloud storage?

Does anyone know if an iTunes gift card can be used to purchase iCloud storage? I've tried to purchase it and I keep receiving an error message. I also haven't seen anywhere to enter credit card info either. I'm trying to get this squared away ASAP as I cannot take anymore photos until I get more storage.

As long as it's a gift for a monetary amount and not for a specific item, yes. You can use that to purchase anything in the iTunes Store other than another gift for someone else.

  • Why did the recent ios 7.0.4 update use up all my storage (over 9 GB)?  I have no storage for music and limit apps.

Why did the recent update to ios 7.0.4 use up all my storage (over 9 GB)?  I have no storage for music and apps.  There is over 9GB designated to "other" under usage now.  I only have 16 GB total.

Text, the best way is to take screen shots, or if you can forward them to your email. Your notes are either saved by your email or with icoud. They can help you find out where they are saved at.
The resest is easy. I would say it best to also save your photos on your computer as well as a extra back up so you can also see them. Depending if you have Mac use Iphoto and import all photos, Windows use I am drawing a blank, but you can go to your start menue and then your phone will show up as a removable device and then left click and transfer photos and videos.
After that you will be set. But it will take a bit to get all of your text taken care of thought.
Also if you have non-programed email address like Roadrunner ect. You will need the incomming and out going server information SMTP ect.

  • Mac's iCal not updating using iPhone4's iCloud

I have upgraded my iPhone4 to iOS5, but still use Snow Leopard on my mac
When I change an event in my iPhone's calendar, why doesn't it update to my my mac's iCal?

    An update.
If I add an event to iCal on the Ti Powerbook, it will sync to .mac then on to the 17" then to the Palm and display correctly on the Palm. It won't display in the the month, week or day view in iCal on the 17". If I go look in the search list of events, the propagated event is there.
The same is true if I create an event on the Palm and sync it to the 17" then to .mac and on to the Ti Powerbook. The event is on all calendars, it just doesn't display on the 17".
another update: I just subscribed to the US Holidays calander and when it came in and displayed, the missing new events also displayed.
Any clues about how to force a refresh of the calendar view display?
    Thanks.

  • How to used additional purchased iCloud storage

I purchases additional storage for my iPad, but nothing goes into it and I keep having to delete things because it says my storage is almost full. Why can't I use the additional storage? And my iPad is running act remedy slow and shuts off often.  : (

iCloud storage is for back ups. You can't use it as a substitute for local storage. Go to Settings>General>Usage to see what is taking up room on your phone and what you can delete.
    Best of luck.

I have my time capsule and I was told I can use as i cloud storage to store data anywhere I travel?

  • What is using up my iCloud storage

I know the most used is by camera roll and than iMovie.  It is a new device with not so many pictures in iCloud or photo stream.  How can I clean up my iCloud storage?
I have used the 25 gb I bought.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
To check what's using the iCloud storage, open Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage, and check the files stored. If you are backing up your iPad on iCloud, you can select the backup and choose what you want to back up. Also, you can delete data for other applications

  • I seem to have used all my iCloud storage 15gb but I'm not sure I'm managing this wisely. Can anyone tell me what to do

I recently upgraded to 15gb of iCloud storage. Before I knew it it's full again and sometimes I'm trying to take a photo or video something and it won't work because of storage issues. Could someon advise me on how to manage all the devices to iCloud. What should be up there? We have an iMac, iPad, 2 x iPhone 3 & iPhone 4. The kids have loads of apps not sure if this is a problem. Help anyone.

You can read this and see if it is of any help to you.
    iCloud: Managing your iCloud Storage
My personal opinion is use the Mac for the backups and only rely on iCloud as your secondary backup. Transfer all of your personal videos onto your Mac - import them using iPhoto. Transfer any purchased movies into iTunes using the Transfer Purchase feature.
Anything that you purchased from iTunes, or the App Store do not count against the 15GB of storage that you have. However, the data in apps will count against that amount of space. If the kids have lots of games that could be eating up space, that can be a bit of an issue. Too many old email messages can be removed. you have to decide how you want to manage the storage. What is important to keep and what you can remove.

You don't have that problem when you use iTunes on your Mac - unless of course your hard drive is ready to burst at the seams becuase the computer is full as well!

  • Why does the macbook pro use both types of storage?

Why does the 13inch retina have both the 8gb hardrive and the flashdrive?

Oops reading your question again, I see there is a misunderstanding:
    http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/
The 8GB is not hard drive memory.  It is chip memory just for multi-tasking purposes, and it can be custom configured to 16 GB of multi-tasking memory.  If you wanted to store applications or data files on it, you can create a RAM disk, but it actually would be copying the information off the SSD.  There is no "permanent" storage of data on the 8GB or 16GB of RAM.
There is no platter hard drive anymore.
The 128 GB is the SSD memory on the 13" model by default, and can be custom configured to 512GB of SSD memory.
The odd thing is your SSD can do swap file storage for multitasking, but also doubles as your place to store actual data files.
For awhile Apple mixed both platter and SSD.  Looks like that is no longer the case at least with the 13" Retina.
SSD memory is comparable to hard drive memory in that it is more "permanent" storage after reboot.  Calling it permanent is a misnomer though, since hard drives and SSDs can both fail without any warning, and a backup is always recommended:

  • I I cannot find out how I used my free Icloud storage space.

I use a Book Mac, an IPad and an IPhone and I am not so sure HOW I syncronize among the maschines, especially fotos.
Is everything stored in the Icloud? Does Icloud replace an Itunes-synchronization?
How can I see how I use my Icloud space? Of the 5 GB I have 1.7 GB left but cannot find out how I used them.

  • Why do my backups take up so much icloud storage if i'm only backing up photos?

I constantly get the notification that my "storage is almost full." I have gone into iCloud settings and turned off and deleted the data and backup data for every app on my phone (5s) except for Photos, and it still says that 4.6 GB of iCloud storage are being taken up by my backups. Furthermore, when I log into iCloud on my computer and try to access photos, or anything for that matter, there's nothing there. Nothing. Everything is empty, despite the fact that I'm supposedly backing up 4.6 GB of data onto my iCloud? I have literally no idea where all of this data is supposed to be going if it's not showing up anywhere. Help would be appreciated.

    Have you tried https://www.icloud.com/#photos?

  • Is there a way to change the size of my photos so they don't use up my iCloud storage?

I noticed that my pictures have a very high pixel ratio and therefore takes up alot of space in iCloud.
I know that that once they have been saved to my laptop I can change the ration then but that doesn't affect the storage space in iCloud.
    Any suggestions?

Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage.  Your backups are listed at the top, along with their sizes.  Note: this will only list your most current backup.  You may have your previous two backups available too but you cannot access any size information about them.
