Why is a tab closes without warning?

I returned to firefox from Chrome, thinking it may have improved but I have been experiencing a problem with tabs which is very annoying, particularly when I have found the info I require.
I click on the + to open a new tab.
I use the slide on the side of the page to go down the page to read the page.
Suddenly the tab closes and returns to the previous page!!!
I am using Windows 7.

If using * any * addons or plugins, restart Firefox (Fx) in safe mode. When safe mode dialog starts, Don't select to permanently disable addons (don't click anything, just continue).
If not familiar w/ safe mode, search for easy steps - using Ixquick or Startpage engines: mozillazine + firefox + safe mode.
If problem stops, follow instructions in a Mozillazine KB article on troubleshooting, using safe mode, then how to troubleshoot addon problems.
If it isn't an addon issue, <strong>** BACK UP **</strong> your old profile, then (& only then) create a new profile & try that. Don't delete the old one - you may need it.

    Hi Karen ,
Could you please elaborate about the issue so that we get know important information about the issue and assist you accordingly ?
How and when does the program closes? Is it during the launch of Acrobat or while working on any of the PDF'?
What OS do you work on ?
If there any error message associated along with it ,please share the screen shot of the same .
If you are on windows ,please try repairing the software once and see if that fixes the issue .
For repairing of Acrobat ,launch Acrobat>Navigate to help>Repair Installation
If that does not work ,you could uninstall Acrobat and then try to re install and see how it goes .
Make sure to disable all the third party software before the installation commence .

  • Updated Ipod to ios 6 now apps close without warning and seems really slow also wifi doesn't always connect

Updated my ipod touch to ios6 now apps close without warning and seems really slow to repsond. Also doesn't always connect to the Wifi never had any problems before upgrade

Try a hard reboot (hold home and power buttons down at the same time until your iPod reboots). If that doesn't work, do a restore in iTunes and do not restore from backup. You wqill lose your game data and settings, but your iPod should run better and work properly.

  • Web pages often close without warning and revert to home screen.

Web pages on iPad often close without warning and revert to home screen. Some updated applications won't load. Running IOS 5.1.1. When I try to update, I get the message that I am running the latest version. Is my iPad having trouble running newer applications? What can I do, or is my device obsolete?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
A reset may help both issues. No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Why does screen shift sideways without warning?

Since getting a new iMac with Lion, I have noticed that frequently the screen will shift sideways without warning, when the mouse has moved only slightly, and disappear. Sometimes there is an arrow in the lower righthand corner that allows retrieval of the lost screen, but not always. This causes particular problems when my son is doing schoolwork online -- sometimes the answers he had put down to questions will be gone when we retrieve the screen, or answers to matching-type questions will be scrambled. Is there a way to stop the screen shifting sideways?

It may also be inadvertently switching to another Space. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh14112.html
    and
    http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_use_spaces_mac_os_x_lion%C2%A0
If it's just switching to Dashboard, go to the Mission Control system preference and uncheck the box that says "Show Dashboard as a separate space".
    Hope this helps.

  • All apps close or quit without warning

    Hi All,
I am experiencing an issue in which all apps running close without warning.
    Scenario:
I'm working away with 5-6 open apps: Photoshop, Mail, Messages, Safari and Firefox etc.  Withourt warning the iMac cycles through and closes all apps and other things like the Wacom Tablet driver.  There are no unexpected quit messages.  Everything just closes within maybe a second or two as if I intentionally shut them down except all open docs just close - no warning.  The screen looks like it's flickering or more likely it's just cycling throug the apps as they close.  It happens so fast it's hard to tell.  This has happened three times in the last month.
The question is how do I diagnose?  I suspect that it might have to do with a USB or Thunderbolt hub that I'm running but how in the world could I tell?  I can't work without them and there's no way to work in safe mode for a month. Any thoughts?

  • Premiere Elements 12 Closing Without Warning

I have just loaded PE12 using Windows XP but soon after opening the program and opening a video file to work on the program just closes without warning. I get no error message - just back to desktop screen.
Any suggestions / ideas will be gratefully received.
    Thankyou
    Neil

    Neil
    Thanks for the update.
This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. So, just my opinion on money back for 12
    a. If you purchased from Adobe direct and were within 30 days of purchase, you could contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat
    to request your money back.
    b. If you purchased from an authorized reseller of the product, then your return/refund would be govern by the return/refund
    policy of the seller.
Since 12 is not longer the current version, I suspect that you are well beyond the 30 days from date of purchase. The possibility
for money back does not look promising. But, you can still contact Adobe via its Chat Panel and confirm what I suspect or find
out that there is hope. If you want to try that, click on the following link
    Contact Customer Care
    Premiere Elements
    Membership, account, payment
    Payments, invoices, orders
    Chat Panel
If the link does not hold its set, then you will need to navigate to the Chat Panel using the titles above as guides.
If you want to continue with Premiere Elements 12/12.1 troubleshooting, I will go the extra miles to help you with that.
There were times when I thought that I would never get Photoshop Elements 12 to run and other times when I
though that I would never get signed in to Premiere Elements 12. But, I did. It was not easy, lots of troubleshooting paths,
some "inside the box", some "outside the box".
We will be watching for further developments when you get the chance.

  • Why does Firefox continually close itself without warning, but reopen prior tabs, without an error message or crash report?

For the past couple weeks Firefox has been randomly closing itself, without warning. I will be on another program on my laptop and Firefox will shut down. But, when I reopen it, all my tabs will restore as if nothing happened, and there is rarely a recovery error alert. I also do not receive crash reports for this phenomenon. Everything about the browser seems to be working fine as usual otherwise.

I'm sorry but I think you didn't get the problem right. Firefox just unexpectedly closes. It does not crash. There are no crash reports.

  • How do I restore the "close tab" button to the END of the tab bar, WITHOUT USING AN ADDON

Up until FF31, I used to have the following setting configured which moved the little 'X' button that closed tabs off of the tabs themselvs and onto the far right of the tab bar.
    browser.tabs.closeButtons; User Set; Integer; 3
No, this no longer works. It has still moved the close buttons back to the tab buttons. Until I can figure out how to fix this, I will be moving back to a previous version. I can't for the life of me see why this feature was removed, other than Mozilla's seemingly arrogant insistence that it knows what people want better than they do.
I was since told by someone that I can use an addon to fix it, yet the problem is THEY DO NOT WORK. The addons that supposedly solve this all have intermittent failures where they don't load correctly, leave random dead tabs open, and in one case it even seemed to open new tabs when I tried to close one.
It's absolutely inexcusable that the dev team is so arrogant to take away a feature that has fundamentally no impact on the rest of the browser, other than, as I said before, they THINK they know what we want better than we do. It's no small wonder that FF is losing market share. The only thing keeping me on board was really this function, as I prefer this layout, and if it's gone, I see no reason to stick with FF over others.

unfortunately it is not possible to restore the close button to have only one (customizable) close button on the Tab bar without using an extension.
The extension is necessary because you need to create a new toolbar button and bind the proper code to it to make the button act as a tab close button (command: BrowserCloseTabOrWindow()).

  • Why can i not close a tab after i have 2 showing the only why 2 leave that site is 2 exit all tabs and restart firefox

why can i not close a tab i have 2 close all tabs and restart firefox then selet browse this is verry anoying

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • My iPad will close all windows/apps suddenly without warning!  Any ideas?

My iPad will "shut off" without warning...very annoying!  Any idea why?  Thanks!

Try closing all apps completely and then do a reset and see if that helps. To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Turning off iCloud and multitasking gestures on the iPad has also been suggested by some people.

  • Firefox 36.0.4 randomly crashes without warning and especially when mutiple windows and tabs are open-never happened earlier, very frequent now.

I am currently researching for an article to write and consequently have many PDFs open simultaneously. I use the Foxit PDF plug in.
However, I've been doing this for very long now and have never faced such crashes where all my windows close without a warning despite there being no other processes running. I get no warning whatsoever. I usually also have YouTube and Gmail open as well. The crashes have happened far too frequently in the past 4-5 days for me to ignore it and assume it to be a rare fault.

enter the menu go to help or ? and start with addons disabled. if it still doesnt work follow this description https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help

  • Citrix Plug-In 12.1.0.30 Disappears without warning on update to Firefox 21. Why was there no warning?

The "warn me if this will disable any of my add-ons" check box is checked.
Had to revert to 20.0.1 for the plug in to reappear.
I cannot get the Citrix 12.1.0.30 plug-in to show up in Firefox 21. Reverting back to version 20.0.1 and turning off auto-updates is the only workaround for the plug-in issue I could find. Updating to a newer Citrix plug-in not an option as the new Citrix Receivers have too many bugs and do not work well (Citrix has been contacted but they are very slow at fixing bugs).

I am having the problem with Firefox running on Windows (XP to be exact). Since it came with Windows 8, I do not run Windows on my machine (which I posted the question from). I didn't know that it was going to try and attach machine info automatically. I pasted the information from the Windows XP Firefox versions manually in the additional information section of the question.
Anyway, for some reason I never ran into that website with my initial searches for this problem. Why doesn't the Firefox installer move or copy the plugins folder if it changes the location of it? Now I need to script a Firefox installer fix for all workstations and turn off auto-updates of Firefox since this is the second time something went wrong with a new Firefox version in a very short time (19.0.2->20 [unresponsive location bar] and 20.0.1->21 [plugins disappearing without warning]). Mozilla seems to be concentrating too much on this decades Windows ME and ignoring the majority of their existing installations. Ok, off soapbox and feeling better. The good news is that the plug-in wasn't disabled after all.
    Thanks!
