Why is anything to do with itunes utter crap

I was given an ipod touch for christmas and the only problem I have had has been the total crap that is itunes. Everything is a problem. Itunes cannot be saved, error 4002, error syncing artwork, cannot sync at all. I've tried lots of fixes. Close Itunes and it will not relaunch, unless I reboot. I never had this trouble with a MP3 player. I wonder wether it was a goog Christmas present at all considering that I'm not a computer expert.

I have an alternate question: why do so many people who have a problem with iTunes just rant about how bad it is, but never provide any details about their setup or the problem so that anyone here can possibly help sort things out?
Sorry to seem harsh, but ranting does no one any good, not you or anyone else reading here. If you'll calm down, post information about your setup - you don't even say what OS your computer is running - the exact nature of the problem including the full text of the error messages, and what specifically you've already tried - I'd suggest posting in the appropriate iTunes forum, since this isn't an iPod problem as such - perhaps someone can help. iTunes works just fine for millions of people, and the chances are it can work for you if you'll have a bit of patience and give us enough detail that we can offer suggestions.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

- Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem

Why doesn't CD burned with iTunes open with track data in iTunes on another computer?

I brought an album of 11 original songs in cda format into iTunes - I then addeded all the data to each song - artist composer genre etc. and burned an audio CD from the playlist. When I play it in the car CD player it displays the song names. When I load it back into iTunes on my computer all the data shows. When I load it into another computer with iTunes - all it shows is the original file names ie Track01 Track02 etc. How come?

Thing that baffles me is that the CD opensin itunes in the computer that created it displaying the full data - but shows track numbers only on another computer - when opened in itunes.
On the computer that created it, the info is stored in a file, not on the CD itself.

I am trying to backup with my Imac 27" running Lion, but I can't find any devices to back my Itunes library to. I want to back up using my DVD +R-DL disks. Am I doing something wrong? (Just in case, I'm upgrading right now to Mountain Lion and will try again.)

This update is terrible; consider yourself lucky if you can't download it. I wish I read all of the complaints before installling. Without Steve Jobs, Apple's reign is over. It's just been one crappy decision after the other. For Christmas I'm buying different devices.

Why wont iphone 4S sync with itunes 10.7?

My iphone 4S wont sync with itunes on my computer. Message says I need to download itunes 10.6 or later. I have downloaded 10.7 but I still get same message. Have tried shutting down and start again.

Probably your update was not successfull and one of the iTunes components is stuck on an older version. What you can do here is uninstall all components according to the Apple instruction. It is well possible, that the defective component cannot be uninstalled, then you'll need to repair it first. Sometimes even that does not help. If that is the case you will have to contact Applecare and ask them to provide again the version you are stuck on of the component, that is causing issue. You would then install that version again, which will enable you to repair and then uninstall. Once your PC is clean again you can freshly install the lastest iTunes.

Why is there a problem with Itunes freezing up at least 1-2 times when using it?

It is kind of getting old but my Itunes player (does not matter which one as I update to the latest version) has this nasty habit of freezing whether I am trying to listen to the radio or my own library.
It is now happening almost every time I use Itunes and when it freezes the only fix is to do the old Control-Alt-Delete.
I am running a 64 bit Window's 7 home premium and prefer using Itunes but you know if you does not work get something else
I have 4 GBs Ram with a 2.6 Dual Core Pentium
More frustrating is the lack of support from Apple. Oh wait Itunes is for free so you do not get help.
Even better is a troubleshooting aid that when you click NO it did not help then the window itself just disappears
Yes I checked and it is a system problem but it is a problem that has existed since Itunes put out their 10 series.
Given the number of times this question is being asked by others then is it too much to think that Apple realizes that they have a problem application and it is not the fault of the user or Microsoft OS.
No offense Apple but I know if 10% have a problem that it does not matter to you but why should I spend money on any of your products if you can not come out with a fix for your own medial player?

HT1386 No help what so ever when you've just been told to update to itunes 11 this does not have anything to do with itunes 11, its the previous 10 versions only!

I just want to know how to sync with the new itunes11! Why is this dated stuff still here when I have just downloaded? You update me but refuse to add the instructions on use? What on EARTH?!

As to actually doing the sync, you have two choices:
1) You can click the button for your device in the top bar and you'll get the normal sync page as described in the documentation;
2) You can select to show the sidebar under the View menu in iTunes, after which the directions will work exactly as before.

Hi I recently upgraed to iOS 6.1 on my Iphone 5. After the upgrade, it was all good. Over the weekend I went Austria for Ski. While taking the photos, I simply locked the phone and kept it my pocket as I had to go. After sometime when I opened my phone, I could hardly see anything. I tried to unlock with pin and tried restarting with great difficulty. But nothing worked. Coming back home today, I have tried restore the software and still no luck. I have tried restore almost 5 to 6 times, but the screen is still blank. I dont know if what state it is in and I can not do anything to fix it. I am very annoyed with the support service as they can not be reached on Sunday evening.
I could manage to book a call tomorrow but I have lot of work over next few days at work. Can someone please help how to fix this issue now? Any suggestions will be much apperciated.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes many times but i still get that message. This is annoying because i have no way of adding music to my iphone via computer. Im using a laptop, dell inspirion 1525.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?

Why different available space amounts with itunes sync - computer v. icloud?

When I sync my 3rd gen iPad to my MBP directly, the bar at the bottom says I have 8.3 GB available. When I switch it to iCloud sync, that bar change to 5.3 GB available. The difference is in the Other category (which includes what?). Is this a problem? Or why such a difference?

It appears to be a bug in iTunes 11.1. A quick scan of the forum reveals every second entry is people who can no longer synch after upgrading iTunes. You could try these items if you want :

I have also noticed glitches often in IMovie. I have had the same problem and if I can solve it I find a way around it. Sometimes if your hard drive is too full it has a hard time fuctioning because there is just not enough space for the program itself to function. The raw footage alone for one of my projects took up 1/3 of my HD disk space alone. I had to delete all other projects just to do that one video. One thing you can try is just exporting the movie as is. delete the old project and re-import the video you just exported as a new project. Then add the music into the new project. Hope that helps.

Hi I have been trying to download apps etc but it keeps saying I have not used iTunes yet,when I try to register it says I need to contact apple .Do u have to register a credit card in order to download apps etc. this is my first iPad . Also do you have to sign in every time you want to download something? This is getting quite frustrating. Any help much appreciated.

Did you plug it in? Do you have the current version of iTunes on your computer? If you have a Mac, does it meet the minimum requirements (OS X 10.6.8 or higher)?
