In my not so humble opinion Apple is not the least bit amazing. If nothing else, Apple is supremely hypocritical. I seem to recall a certain video of a female athelete throwing a hammer at a video screen that was showing "Big Brother" from movie based one George Orwell's 1984.
The symbology was that the introduction of the original Macintosh would break the bonds of slavery and conformity to IBM PCs and DOS. Yeah, right.
What we ended up with is a closed architecture that is maintained with an iron fist and draconian rules.

Why is Apple the only people on earth that cannot send an email to my gmail account? I used my gmail account to receive calls on Face Time until the last update and now Apple "cannot verify" the account and they have sent over 100 "verification emails" but I have yet to receive one. Amazing!
My original Apple ID was my bellsouth address. When I got iCloud, it was merged with the .me address. I can use either to log into the same iCloud, Facetime, iTunes & Apple Store, and Messages. Seems you have 2 separate Apple IDs (one for iCloud and one for iTunes).
If you log into any app using the Apple ID such as Facetime, only the email addresses associated with it will work. You can log into the Manage Apple ID website and see what addresses are associated with that login.

I don't know of any way to merge seperate Apple IDs. You can try changing the one you use for iTunes to the one you use for iCloud and see if it works. If not, you can change the iTunes one to a different email address. Then you can disassociated the gmail address for the iTunes Apple ID and then associated it with the iCloud Apple ID. Once it's disassociated from one account, you will then be able to add it to the other and get the verification email. -

Having all those problems said with 3g/s running on iOS 4.X why wont they let us just downgrade back to 3.1.3 officially until they find a way on how to solve issues with 3g/s?
About the downgrade method of life hacker, if you're really not good in those things you might actually ruin your pc like my friend who tried it, she lost her wifi on her notebook, i had to help her find the installer of the driver again. this happened after she tried to install that libusb that is needed to run the application for exit recovery mode and other stuff.
Yes iOS 4.1 is out but contacts disappearing? And who knows what more problems it brings. I was even peeking around the iphone 4 forums it seems that they are not doing well either.
Anyway mine is all fine except that im afraid to use wifi or any apps that needs internet connection because everytime i do, my 3gs gets very very hot. I have already done the basic solution suggested by apple (factory reset, start from new iphone) but its still the same.
And another thing, the multitasking is getting annoying, you have to manually close all apps in the 'multitasking background' everytime you decide to quit an app. I guess they should put a 'Disable multitasking' or something like that.Firenzo wrote:

Because it works beautifully in the 3GS, with better battery life, faster operation and some great new features.

If you are having problems it is NOT from 4.0; there is something else wrong with your phone. There are plenty of troubleshooting tips in the forum if you look.

NO YOU DO NOT. Those apps in the ribbon are not multitasking, they are suspended. You can ignore them and they won't hurt battery life or memory, unless they are streaming apps like Pandora.
It's amazing. For 3 years people screamed about the fact that the iPhone didn't support multitasking. Now they scream because the phone DOES multitasking. You can't win. -

Why wont apple let me get an apple ID without a "no credit card" suggestion in the payment method?
I dont buy my apps and I dont understand why my sister (and other people) were able to make an apple ID without putting a credit card.
Though I can enter my apple ID account when it comes to the game center, when I try to download an app that problem always appears. So now I'm using my sister's ID, but I really want to have my own.Follow it through to the payment methods and choose None if it is available.

The unlocked IPhone 4S models will not be available until November, Why is that? Why would Apple do that? I should be able to buy a factory unlocked Apple iPhone 4S when it comes out! I travel all over the world, and so that is why I need one like that. It is unfair to the consumer, and frankly turning away customers like myself willing to pay high dollar to Apple for their product, who can I speak with to complain about this, because I know their are factory unlocked iPhone 4S' sitting in a warehouse somewhere just waiting to be shipped, and I want one. I know why, cause Apple signed contracts with each carrier so the carrier could increase their sales making customers sign 2 year contracts, I get it, I own my own business, but the delay of releasing factory unlocked ones is just not right and I should be able to buy one without having to buy it over in the UK where it is unlocked when it comes out right away, I should be able to buy it in my own country! These business practices we practice in the US need to stop, their is a demand that needs to be met with consumers like myself who don't need subsidized iPhone's with 2 year contracts with carriers and don't mine paying full price for an unlocked one, it is unethical in a sense, forcing the customer to buy it with a carrier contract and NOT giving the customer the option to buy it full price and own it themselves, OR, making the consumer wait a month for that option to be available. THEY SHOULD BE RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! THAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!!!!!!
Apple can contact me and I will proudly pay for one. But making me wait a month for an unlocked one, puts AT&T, Sprint & Verizon's interests before mine, and that is not right, for it is MY money that keeps you guys in business, so my best interests should come first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I understand your frustration, but when any form of rationing is required you have to prioritise. The number of unlocked vs packaged phones will be quite small and the number of unlocked buyers wishing to upgrade immediately will be smaller still. Against this you have the corporations sharing $billions between them.
It would, you're correct, have been fairer to release all at the same time, but fairer doesn't come into it: it's business. -
I don't get why my Apple ID keeps saying this device is already associated with an Apple ID and something about 90 days but also it doesn't let me download any of my pre orders when available it has happened to me twice and my past purchases can someone contact me and give me some help sorting this out

I'm getting a similar problem with my Macbook Pro. itunes match was working fine until two days ago when i created another 'user id' for the laptop and then an itunes account for that user under their profile. Now i cant turn on itunes match on my itunes under my user account. Contacted Apple today who said to use the Express Lane and email the problem and they might be able to make an 'exception' on the account. Otherwise I'll have to wait 88 days to access a lot of my music on the macbook pro. itunes match is still working on the iphone 4S and ipad2.
Can anyone help? The only thought was too re-stream the laptop. Ive already tried deauthorising the other user but it made no difference.

I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

goodnight. as you know apple has evolved considerably until today but there are people who do not have ability to buy new products. in my case I would like to know why the apple do not let the iphone 3g update to iOS 4.3 as are several applications that can not put on my iphone 3g due to this reason. Why does not Apple make a repository with applications for ios 4.2.1? or else do not work in an update to ios 4.3 on iphone 3g?
This has nothing to do with Apple, as Apple does not make the apps.
This is the decision of the app maker.
Contact those app makers and ask them why they do this. -

The kit is firmly inserted in thhe iPad's dock ? You could also try a reset and see if it's recognised after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I haven't had problems using the kit with SD cards from Canon cameras . What capacity is the card, and it's an SD or SDHC card - if it's an SDXC card that's formatted as ExFAT then it won't be recognised -
Why is apple not providing information on what the problem withe email is and what they are doing to fix, along with a time frame for fixing the problem.
It was because the problem was major. If you do not know tech, you should know that a two day outage usually indicates some type of virus, hack, or a bad software load that they had to unravel. The common way to solve that is to rebuild servers and put back into service. That takes time.
Apple did not want to admit this problem. My guess at this stange was that they loaded new software that might be associated with the new IOS and it crashed. To reveal this would be to cast into doubt their future revenue.
Either way. Run do not walk away from Icloud products and services. Apple has demonstrated they can not be a business partner. -

Why have apple robbed us yet again, AirPrint, is useless, or buy another printer that apple have gained massive revenue from, the iPads are great but very high priced, and then you have to buy another high priced printer with high priced inks, I use a wifi Kodak, why should I buy another.
You have to mess about with other apps and then have your other computer on, what's all that about Apple. Why have they ruined a really good thing.
I cannot get my printer to work, and might just sell this stupid gadget, I am so annoyed at apple playing god with things, if you want it to work you have to jailbreak it, and the up pos Apple again, if you break it we will not repair it, that tells you exactly that they are playing god, wake up apple and smell the coffee.I have a Kodak wifi printer and print using the app Print Magic. I do not need to have any of my home computers on to do this as they have nothing to do with wifi printing from my iOS devices (if you do not have a wifi printer and are sharing the printer off another computer, then of course, that computer needs to be on and connected to your wifi network).
You can post with all the hyperbole you want, but none of us have any inside information as to why Apple's devices and iOS do certain things a certain way, or why they do not do things in the particular specific way you wish them to. Airprint does not work with Kodak printers at this time. There are numerous apps that will allow you to print to just about any wifi printer. -
Why did Apple make the new iPod unable to use Griffin iTalk or iTrip?
I was so disappointed when I upgraded to the new 5th gen. iPod and was unable to use the accessories I purchased for my previous iPod. Am I missing something? What am I supposed to do? Every mac operating system software until Lion had the ability to use up/down arrows in the scroll bar. This makes it easy to move up and down in small increments. In Lion, it is impossible to move up and down in small increments. Click on the scroll bar and it moves up or down an entire page. When you try to put the curser on the scrollbar and move it up just a little, it moves a whole bunch. With the up/down arrows, you can click on the arrow and it will scroll ulp or down one line a time. There is no way to do this in Lion. Why would apple remove the very useful feature of up and down arrows.
