Why is Encore CS6 transcoding my DTS-MA HD files

I thought Encore CS6 wasn't supposed to transcode Lossless DTS files in a Blu Ray project?
But on build it is transcoding them and obviously i don't want this to happen
The music files are placed in the audio timeline.
Is there a setting to prevent the audio to transcode?

Is your specific settings in this list?

There have issues raised, but CS6 should do passthrough for BD legal.

  • Why does Encore CS6 quit during startup and how can I get it to stop?

I am using Encore CS6 on Mac OSX 10.9.1. After spending all afternoon purchasing, researching and downloading the newest Encore (because CS5 would no longer burn anything on the new operating system), every time I open Encore, it unexpectedly quits. There is no error message, it loads Encore to the point where you can see all the Encore windows, and before asking whether you are opening an existing project or starting a new project, the program quits. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Encore is not supported on that OS, and may not work http://www.adobe.com/products/encore/faq.html

  • Encore CS6 Transcode issues

In previous versions of Encore, selecting "Automatic" for the transcode solution on my DVD has always given me the best possible transcode to fit all the video I had prepared onto the disc. In this version, the "automatic" solution gave me the highest transcode available for an NTSC DVD, and ultimately left me with three times too-much data for my disc. I had to manually create a transcode setting at a bitrate that would allow me to fit all my video onto the disc (only two hours, so certainly not too much for a DVD). Anybody know why the change in behavior with the "automatic" transcode option? It's rather frustrating because it was so quick and easy to just set it at automatic and know that Encore was handling it properly to give me the best balance between quality and quantity for the disc.
Also, where do we go now to select whether to use Encore or AME for transcoding? That option appears to be gone from the preferences menu... In previous versions I experienced faster transcode times using AME over Encore, and would like to continue doing that.

Can you give some more details about your project. The project size, duration. Also did you compare it with CS5.1 Automatic settings? How much is the difference betwen the two?
Also, to use AME for transcoding from Encore in CS6 -
    Mac -
Goto Encore->Preferences->General and select the check box " Transcode assets using Adobe Media Encoder aaplication"
    Win -
Goto Edit - >Preferences->General and select the check box " Transcode assets using Adobe Media Encoder aaplication"

  • Why is Encore CS6 Menu quality so poor/bad?

    Hello All,
My client and I are frustrated on the image quality of the menu in Encore when creating a Standard Definition DVD.
The menu source is a .psd. Tried various resolutions and once the dvd is ceated the image is very pixellated and hard to read the text in the logos (see attachment). Also tried making a motion menu with that image by creating a timeline with it in P Pro. Same results.
I understand that this is SD and that the customer is playing back the 720 x 480 image on a high resolution monitor which doesn't help.
The videos portions of the DVD are OK (mpg2) and the graphics hold up a lot better in the video portions.
Would appreciate any advice on this issue as my client and I are very frustrated.
I will try and test this on another system today.
What do you think about a hardware/software (something other than Encore) solution to create a decent looking DVD?
    Thanks in advance,
    John
This is a full frame screen shot from the DVD.

When you bring a higher than DVD resolution image into Encore, Encore downrezzes it to the project setting when you render the menu and/or build the project.
You can only avoid that if you make the background image the correct size. You can only avoid Encore rendering if you don't add any other elements other than highlights (the layers in photoshop with =1, =2 etc.).
If any of the images are part of a highlight layer, you get big problems; I don't think that is an issue for you.
Logos have often been scaled in various ways; I wonder if that could be having an effect.
But, I did not think the image looked that bad once it had it set to the DVD pixel size and was viewing it at the size.
You certainly do not get an accurate test viewing as your client was on a large computer monitor.
Create a test disk and view on an HD TV with an upscaling player. For me that is the modern, practical test.
The other test you might do is to take the logos out of the equation by making a menu with several fonts/sizes to simulate the text issue in the menu. DVD and small text are just not a winning combination. The logos may be scaled too small for so many on one screen.

  • Encore CS6 not possible to avoid transcoding

Why does encore CS6 transcode some H.264 streams and some not? They are different sequences exported from the same project with the same settings out of premiere CS6. The parameters of all streams equal the settings in encore. But for some it is not possible to change the setting in encore to not transcode.

Yes, I used H.264 Bluray 1440x1080 anamorph. I guess Encore ignored the anamorph flag for some files and transcoded them a second time to 1440x1080 - the result is a visible frame with a distorted 4:3 aspect ratio. I have found a resolution. I replaced the transcoded files in the encore transcode folder with copies of the original files and renamed them like the transcoded files: "original filename"_sessionFiles_Asf_session_1_video.m4v
Perhaps its possible to avoid transcoding by simply placing renamed copies (in that name system above) of the original files in the transcode folder. I will try it in the future.

  • Is it possible to burn a SD DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 Blu-ray project and content?

    Hi all,
I shot and edited AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) square pixel video from a Sony NXCAM HXR-NX5U camcorder in Premiere CS6.  I then exported the 1920x1080 edited mpeg2 blu-ray m2v file for import into Encore Cs6.  Burning a blu-ray disc in Encore CS6 from this mpeg2 bluray m2v file is no problem and look great even with the default settings.
However, I also want to burn a standard DVD using the same HD Encore CS6 project without having to go back to Premiere CS6 and output a 710x480 mpeg-dvd file.  I thought i could simply select the dvd format under the build tab in Encore thinking Encore would handle all the necessary conversions to burn a 720x480 DVD but the menus look jaggy and the video does not play smoothly.
Is it possible to burn a standard DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 HD project and content, or is it better to have Premiere CS6 output a 720x480 mpeg-dvd file and create a new standard 720x480 dvd Encore project instead?
Acording to Encore Help, it says "You can build the same project to DVD and Blu‑ray formats no matter which format you select in the New Project or Project Settings dialog box. Encore makes the appropriate adjustments to transcode the elements to the correct format.", but i'm not convinced Encore is doing things correctly.
    Thanks.

    Jim,
I tried a variation on your suggestion.
I exported a new m2v file using the mpeg-dvd from Premiere CS6 as you suggested with "Use Maximum Render Quality" checked to get better scaling from HD to SD. I imported it into my Blu-ray EncoreCS6 project by using the "Replace Asset" option and changed the "Project Settings" authoring Mode to "DVD" leaving the HD menu's "Aspect Ratio" at 16:9.  I then built the disc using the "Build" tab DVD format and output settings.
    It worked!
The jaggies are gone (except for some motion jaggies) and the DVD plays well.
I suppose I could have done something similar within Encore but I'll test that some other time.

  • Latest Media Encoder CC 7.2 fixes the transcode issue in Encore CS6

The latest version of Adobe Media Encoder prevents the issue of transcoding Blue-Ray files when importing them in Encore CS6 http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/12/adobe-media-encoder-cc-7-2-december-2013-updat e.html

This is very good news for CC users.
The PR update is also now announced:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5925060#5925060
The list of bug fixes does not mention this issue.
There have been some differences in how processing occurs between exporting from PR vs queuing to AME. Do we know that the export is fixed for either type of export?

  • Why Poor DVD quality Encore CS6 with Sony FS100 MTS files from PPro CS6

I am using PPro CS6 on a MAC Pro Quad zenon with Boot Camp. On PC side I was using PPro CS6 & Encore CS6 with MTS files from  Sony NX 5U with NO Problems.
I just started using a Sony FS100 recording 1080i (60) format MTS files. When I Dynamic Link to Encore, the quality of the image is very soft compare to image from previous
projects with MTS files from Sony NX 5U.When I open a previous NX5U project, it still displays and creates an excellant dvd.Need help in solving problem.

Thanks for the advice. I tryed your method with same results.
I then tried changing project quality settings with somewhat better results
    but not good enough results.
I looked at some of my previous dvds that used mts files from my Sony NX5U
and the quality was much better
that any results I am having using the Sony FS100 mts files. Even still
pictures do not look good now in Encore.
I then tried using Roxio Creator 10 Pro to make a dvd.
The results were excellant! Video files and stills are great.
I noticed that Encore CS6 is using the "Main Concept" codec to transcode.
Has something changed in the basic
settings with my Encore and can I reset my Encore to original defaults???
Any advice would be welcomed...Thanks again.

  • Help Adobe:  Encore CS6 using previous transcodes

I have a situation where I need to remake DVDs that were made using Encore before I installed CC.  They were made using Dynamic Link with Premere Pro CS6.   I can't open the project using PP CC because the original content is gone.
With the installation of Premiere Pro CC, I can't open the old Encore files (as you probably know).
So, what are my options for using the transcode folders created by Encore CS6?   Can I un-install Premiere Pro CC?   Would that work, or are there other programs I would need to un-install as well?
Please noodle . . .   I can't be the first to ask this, but I did not see where this situation was addressed.
    S

Is your PR project still there in its CS6 version? Is suspect that you need to have PR CS6 installed for it to "see" your project. Doesn't look like my idea will work.
To reinstall PR CS6 (which coexists fine with CC), go here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/kb/encore-cs6-installed-cc.html
It tells you how to add Encore CS6, which includes adding (and then uninstalling) Premeire CS6. Just don't uninstall Premiere CS6.

  • Encore CS6 isn't transcoding finished videos

Adobe Encore CS6, Intel Xeon CPU Dual Core @ 2.66 GHz, 12 GB RAM, Windows 7
I've encountered a strange problem this week. If I try to create a DVD folder using a .WMV file, I get an error saying "error setting up transcoder." This error repeated itself even when I changed my DVD transcode settings. These are videos I created using Premiere Pro CS6 on this same computer. However, if I use Dynamic Link to send the project directly from Premiere Pro to Encore, I have no problems. Fortunately, to this point I have only had to create DVDs of video projects I've edited on my computer, but in the future I will have to create DVDs from .WMV files that I haven't produced. This is a new issue that I've only encountered this week; for the past few months I haven't had an issue creating DVD folders with .WMV video files. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

    Odd.
WMV is a supported filetype. Not an optimal choice, but, as it has for you in the past, should work.
It is tempting to look at transcode settings or the settings you used to export it from PR. But the more likely scenario is that something changed on your machine in terms of codecs or other settings.
You mention building to a folder,  but I assume the problem has nothing to do with a build. When do you get the error? Upon import of the asset? Or trying to transcode it? I assume it is not when you open the project.

  • Why does Encore try to re-transcode compliant M2V files?

Encore will only try to re-transcode an MPEG-2 file in 2 circumstances.
1 - The asset is not properly DVD-Compliant.
This could be for several reasons, the most likely offenders being either too high a bitrate or an incorrect GOP size. DVD-Video limits us to a total
    i combined Audio & Video
bitrate of 9800 kbps, or 9.8 Mb/s. This is also a peak value, not an average one. The easiest way to check the bitrate is with the excellent "Bitrate Viewer" available from http://www.tecoltd.com/bitratev.htm
2 - The total combined bitrate of the Audio & Video files
    i on the timeline
exceeds the maximum bitrate set in the Project Settings (Advanced).
If, for example, this is set to 7Mb/sec, and the peak rates when combined
    i exceed
    this number, Encore will re-transcode.
The only solution in both cases is to re-transcode the original source file to MPEG-2 or else to use the uncompressed asset & allow Encore to transcode automatically.

The authoring itself is possible. It can be done (and is also being promoted as such) in Encore.
Also there is a possibility to burn simple Bluray discs (or even normal DVD discs with Bluray content that play on Bluray players) in Toast 10.
    Thanks...

  • PS3 (Playstation 3) issue not loading BDR Bluray | Adobe Encore CS6

I recently created a Bluray using Adobe Encore CS6, and the Bluray is not loading on my PS3, but is working fine on my other player (LG, Toshiba and PC).  Does anyone have the same issue and found a solution?  I need help on this as most of my client use their PS3 as Bluray player.
Authoring program: Adobe Encore CS6 with the Creative Cloud latest update
PS3 with latest firmware update (PS+ member with auto-update: on)
Video files: 1920x1080 FPS 23.976 Program Stream MPEG-2 for Bluray *.m2v (transcode with FCP Compressor)
Audio files: Dolby Digital Audio *.ac3
    Burner software: CyberLink Power2Go V6
Burner hardware: HP BD Writer bd340i
    Media: Verbatim BD-R 25GB 6x Speed
    Project size: 20/25GB
The project setting in CS6 is: Blu-ray NTSC with MPEG-2 Codec at 1920x1080 at 23.976FPS
The “Check Project” shows no error.  I build (output) as an image, then burn the *.ISO file using CyberLink Power2Go.
The BD-R work fine everywhere (LG & Toshiba player) except on my PS3.  The BD-R has the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folder, so I don’t know why my PS3 don’t recognize it.  And I have three PS3 at home; 1xPS3 80GB version (3yrs old) and 2xPS3 super slim (1yr old).  All three are unable to see the BD-R.  My PS3 work fine with all other media (games & movie Bluray); and I highly doubt that all three have trouble with the Bluray player.
I did the same process last time (in 2013) and everything is working fine, all the same configuration, except I used Adobe Encore CS4.  My PS3 was able to read and recognize the BD-R.  But since CS6, my PS3 don’t see the BD-R.  I also put back the copy that I did last year with CS4 (just to make sure that is not a PS3 firmware issue) and the Bluray work fine.  The media (Verbatim) come from the same tower (leftover from last year).
So everything point toward CS6…is there something that change from CS4 to CS6 for Bluray creation? Jumping from Encore CS4 to CS6, I don’t see anything different, but look like there is, because the Bluray can no longer be played on my PS3.  Please help!

Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help

  • Encore is transcoding audio even though it's within spec

    Encore CS6
I have two separate projects, one to create a DVD and one to create a Blu-ray.  Each project has 1 video as 1 chapter on the timeline.  The source files were pre-encoded before being imported into encore.  The file for the DVD project is MPEG-2 with AC3 audio and show's as "Don't Transcode".  The file for the BD project is H.264 with AC3 audio and shows as "Don't Transcode".
When I build each project, the first thing Encore does is transcode audio.  Then it uses the video as-is.
The audio track in both projects is actually identical, here it is:
    Format                                   : AC-3
    Format/Info                              : Audio Coding 3
Mode extension                           : CM (complete main)
    Format settings, Endianness              : Big
    Duration                                 : 41mn 52s
    Bit rate mode                            : Constant
    Bit rate                                 : 256 Kbps
    Channel(s)                               : 2 channels
    Channel positions                        : Front: L R
    Sampling rate                            : 48.0 KHz
    Bit depth                                : 16 bits
    Compression mode                         : Lossy
    Stream size                              : 76.7 MiB (4%)
This is a 100% within spec audio stream for DVD-Video and Blu-ray.
However, encore is transcoding to this:
    Format                                   : AC-3
    Format/Info                              : Audio Coding 3
Mode extension                           : CM (complete main)
    Format settings, Endianness              : Big
    Duration                                 : 1h 29mn
    Bit rate mode                            : Constant
    Bit rate                                 : 192 Kbps
    Channel(s)                               : 2 channels
    Channel positions                        : Front: L R
    Sampling rate                            : 48.0 KHz
    Bit depth                                : 16 bits
    Compression mode                         : Lossy
    Stream size                              : 122 MiB (100%)
The only difference is the bit rate.
Why is Encore forcing the 192 Kbps bitrate?  The 256 Kbps source file bitrate is 100% within spec for DVD-Video and Blu-ray disc.
Is there a way to stop this transcoding?
Note that there is no audio in the menu structure.

    Stan Jones wrote:
Putting 2 a3c's on a timeline invites problems. Export as a single audio file.
This did the trick.  I deleted the two separate files, extracted the AC3 streams from the 2 source files and combined them into a single AC3 files (used eac3to for this), then added that to the project and placed on the timeline.  Now it no longer transcodes the audio.

  • Encore CS6 DVD Build taking too long

    Hello,
I am trying to build the DVD from Encore CS6, I have the Creative Cloud, and it gets stuck and will not make forward progress-- it's stuck at transcoding. This has been going on for 48 hours now, and everything is clear.
Any tips, hints, or reasons why this is not working? Could I have downloaded a faulty version from Adobe Creative Cloud?
    Thank you,
    Zachary

How long are the movies? What format were they in? What power computer?
    This does seem long.
Try transcoding as a separate step before you build.
