Why is everything on my Frame-relay network working fine with different encapsulation types ?
I have a cisco frame-relay switch with the encapsulation type on IETF.
I have a cisco router with
the encapsulation type on cisco.
Still everything works fine.
How come when it is a different dlsi byte structure ?
Is it because also my switch is a cisco and it uses cisco encap afterall ?
A cisco router will understand both the IETF and normal Cisco encapsulation when receiving data regardless of configuration. However, depending on the configuration, it will only send one type.

Frame Relay access into MPLS with QOS
My provider is telling me that I can take my frame relay network and map it into their MPLS network. Basically all my sites would connect into the providers Frame network and then mapped into the proivders MPLS network. Now I know this will work; but my concern is VoIP and QOS. If I have a single PVC and I am marking VoIP packets with an IPPREC of 5 how will the providers frame realy network see that? And how will it be honered from CE => Provider FR => PE => P => PE => Provider FR => CE
Todd, I doubt how would your SP provide you guranteed QOS SLA's with that setup. As there is no one to one mapping of PREC/EXP values to FR based QOS.
But although, if he gurantees or ensures that the FR access cloud is never going to be congested and everything is fifo in there then he can provide your per hop QOS behaviour based on your PREC value across the MPLS cloud.

My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?
Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).
What I have to determine is what has changed in the setup...from when it WAS working just fine with all devices. -
I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, I just found out that it can't join existing wireless network with new AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC's wifi turned off. How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. It is working fine with TM. My cheeper seagate drives etc kept crashing, so i didnt trust cheeper back up options anymore. Connected those drives to TM via firewire and could see the drives and access them.
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed. I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc. I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast. Getting over 50mbs downloads and over 30mbs uploads. Plus everything in my home it connected to my fios router, airport express for music streaming, two apple tvs, vuezone camer system. I really didn't want to monkey around too much with my system. But are there other options to connect the new TC. Can't find info anywhere for this and called apple who gave me the info above. after hanging up, i see that i cant access my TC and I am wondering if i would have to reset it to turn wifi on again to make changes to the drive, turn off blinking light or repair it in disk utility if it should become corrupted.
For other with similar issues i did solve some other problems: when i connected it to my ethernet port on my iMac wifi stopped working. Found that I had to turn off the ethernet in the system>network screen, but then TM didn't see the TC so i restarted after changes and then it saw it.
Now a rant. I can't believe in this wireless age that Apple would make a product that cant join a wireless net work. The apple rep said i could return it and look for the previous TC that would join an existing wireless network. Are we going backwards?

I was assuming airport in this statement in your first post meant the TC or the Express.. but I now realise we are still in the mass confusion stage where apple calls everything wireless an airport. So what you mean is the airport internal card of the computer??

I think this is mistaken.
Putting the TC in bridge mode plugged into your FIOS will not slow the network.. nor will it cause mail or port issues.. in bridge the TC is just a fancy WAP and switch plus the network hard drive.
If the computer is close it will be faster than the FIOS.
You can run both wireless networks with different names.. so it is clear which is which. But you can also setup roaming so the computers themselves pick which is the best wireless.
I tried extending the wireless net work and tried joining wireless network, but the TC kept crashing and I had to keep resetting the TC. the Apple support person said these, extend wireless network and joint wireless network, are no longer a connection option with the new TC because of the new AC protocol.

You cannot extend to a non-apple wireless router.
You cannot use join a wireless network because when you do the ethernet ports will be cut off.
But that has not changed.. I don't think Apple support is correct.. there has been no change with the AC model.. it is simply a fact that apple routers do not work in join wireless mode other than as a dumb client. The same applies to AC as to the earlier version.. but I have asked another person to check this.
Join in the express is the only apple router that still allows an ethernet connection.
For now you best use of the TC is bridged to the FIOS. Wireless you can sort out between several options. -
L7680 Can't connect via Network works fine direct connected via USB Please Help!

I have an HP L7680 that has been having this same problem since I purchased it and the only cure that has ever worked is to completley reload Windows XP and start over which I am very tired of reloading XP to resolve a printer problem.
This has been posted by several other people but I don't see where anyone has posted a fix.
When I first install the printer everything usualy works fine and it runs fine for a few mionths. Then the first indicatrion of a problem is the scanner quits working. Then when I try to reinstall the software the printer does not show up. I read and tried every solution and have spent nuerous hours with HP support to no avail.
The printer works fine direct connected via a USB cable and it works fine with two other computers on the same network. One of the other computers has the exact same OS and is the same HP model laptop.
I don't think the uninstall is completley removing all the files or reinstalling everything fresh when I reload. I have tried the Level 1 through 4 uninstall utility posted on HP's site and have tried all sugestions posted in this forum.
Below is a better rundown of the problem.
When the Scan function is called, a "Scanning" window appears, and hangs

Only way to clear scanning page is to terminate hpoews01.exe with Task Manager
Scanner does not show up in Paint or Photoshop ect.
Web Scan Does work and printer shows up using IP address.
Scanner shows up fine on a web page
HP support in India has been no help and now my printer is out of warranty so even less help

DaveI had a similar problem with my OfficeJet L7680 and here's how I fixed it.

I lost my L7680 network link (using CAT5 from printer to router) and could not print to it over the network. However, I could print from a PC with a USB cable directly to the printer, but there are currently three PCs connected wireless to the network. I think I have a viable solution for anyone with the same problem and is not related to the operating system of the PCs.
Originally, I went to the HP site and downloaded the program for the L7680, Critical Update to Enhance Reliability of Network and USB Connectivity and Improve System Responsive.... This worked wonders until my modem and/or router went down. I could see ink levels from my PC, scan, print, and so on. Then I somehow lost my network connection again. When I checked the network settings on the L7680 printer panel (Setup, 5 - Network, 1 - View Network Settings, 2 - Display Wired Settings), I noticed a different IP address than the original 192.168.1.100. Once I figured out how to reset the printer to that one, it connected and worked as it should.
Here's how to reset it: 1. Power down all devices (wired and wireless) to the router (I even disconnected the printer power cord and CAT5 cable at the printer); 2. Power down the modem and router - wait a minute or so before powering back up; 3. Power up the modem and give it a minute or so to go through system checks, which will normally acquire a new IP address from your ISP; 4. Power up the router and let it go through its system checks; 5. Connect the CAT5 cable from the printer to the router and power it up before you power up and connect any other computers. This should assign the printer the first IP address from the router, which should be 192.168.1.100. Once the printer goes through its start-up checks, you can check its assigned IP address from its panel. 6. Power up any other PCs or devices to the router. They should be assigned successive IP address numbers from the router. You can check these using a browser in the PC after typing in 192.168.1.1, logging in to the router, and checking the appropriate place in the router driver/software displayed in the browser. I was not able to reassign IP addresses in my router's driver/software to individual devices, but this method did the trick. I did not try to change the IP address of the printer from its panel to match what had been inadvertently reassigned to it. That might be another option to synchronize the printer and router with the same IP address. If the printer loses its connection again, you'll have to synchronize what the printer has with what the router shows. This worked for me. -

Why won't some photos or videos sync to my iPad when they work fine with iPhoto and iTunes? Other photos taken with same camera sync fine from iPhoto while certain events are inexplicably incompatible. I've recently foundvthecsame occurrence with certain mp3s and videos from iTunes.

Not all video formats that work in iTunes are compatible with the iPad - the supported formats are (from http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/) :

Have you tried Advanced > Create iPad Version and then sync those versions to the iPad

It flashes amber when there is some kind of conflict. If the internet is working but the amber light bothers you, airport utility ahould tell you why your airport is reporting a problem.
If airport utility thinks your airport is normal and the amber light bothers you, do a hard reset on the device -
So far I have pulled the system configuration file, I have reset safari, I deleted all old passwords from the wifi network in Keychain I restarted both devices. I am at the end here and I cannot get it to work I have an iMac that works fine with my network but for some reason this computer will not connect. It is system wide specifically to my personal hotspot. I can connect fine to any other network (wifi) but just not mine. I have not changed any wifi settings. I have been trying to figure this out. I have a MacBook Pro Late 2006 model running Lion (10.7.5) So any ideas anyone? Please help!
12. At a WiFi hotspot, you can't get connected. The most frequent reason is the login screen for the WiFi hotspot is only able to be connected with a single type of browser. If Safari doesn't work, try Firefox, Chrome, Omniweb, or Opera.

Since you have already done some sort of reset on your Airport Express, you might as well make sure it was a "hard reset" - follow the instructions for a hard reset found at:

Since your Mac is running Leopard, you need to configure the Airport Express using the Airport Utility found in the Applictions->Utilities folder. You cannot install the old software that was supplied on the CD you got with the Airport Express.
In future - if you do something bad with network settings on your Mac, do NOT try to fix it with the Airport Utility. The Airport Utility is only used to configure the Airport Express - and since the problem you have created is on the Mac and not the Airport Express, there is no need to be using the Airport Utility and especially there is no need to be resetting the Airport Express. -

I bought mine in the US and activated using a German SIM. It worked fine first on 6.0.1. After upgrading to 6.0.2 the SIM does not work. I have reset the reset the phone and still does not work. I loaded a new SIM and the phone worked for few minutes before going to Searching mode after I restarted the device. I am being told by the Genius Bar team that this is a Hardware failure.

We have a 5s active on our account. After turning on a previously active 4s (it had the same number) The 5s can no longer place call and when you call it from another phone the 4s rings, but will not pick up. Texting over the cell networks works fine. Any suggestions??
