Why is everything purple and green?

Suddenly my computer is showing a lot of color in purple and green. Pictures even print out this way. I've repaired permissions and rebooted several times. I know it happened once shortly after rebuilding this system but the monitor was set to 256 colors. It's set to millions now and same problem. What's really weird is that it is affecting the pictures and how they print. This means it's not a monitor problem and I don't see how it could possibly be a video card prob. Any answers. I'm wanting to update to 10.4.3 but don't want to compound the problem.
Brad

Well this is a curious issue you have here. The fact it affects how things print, suggests Colorsync may be picking up on the color calibration of the display in the printer settings. Since I'm not sure how Colorsync goes about colormatching, you might want to make the question in the printing forum:

  • When I export a video in Premiere, the colors flash purple and green. Why?

I bought the software just recently but I have exported files before and they worked fine.  I have a few speculations but I wanted to get an opinion.  I dont know what to do if my speculations are right either.
    1. I used a small digital camera so the format may be unsupported.  It looks fine in the preview but when I set preview quality to maximum it flashes purple and green.  I have, on the same timeline, a small logo animation I made using after effects and that part looks fine.
    2. I used after effects to color correct the video segements and then exported them as .mov's.  They look fine after they are exported.  Maybe this is causing a problem though?
    3.  I noticed that I have been making the comps in after effects, 24 fps but when i looked at the settings in Premiere it says it is at 30 fps.  But I didnt see another option there.
Are any of these the problem?  Any advice or suggestions?  What should I do to fix it/prevent it in the future?
    Thank you!

  • Hi .. While working in PS it is freezing for a moment and wild purples and greens make large pixel patterns behind the program on the desk top. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Hi .. A never before seen problem for me .. While working in PS with large files , the program freezes for a moment and bright pixels of flourescent colors of purple  and green fill parts of the background screen behind Photoshop. Its getting worse ? The programs are running extremely slow also. Thanks for any ideas.

    You can't and don't have a PowerMac (G5).
Repairing Permissions, likely just waste of time.
    REPAIR the HARD DRIVE instead.

  • Purple and green blotches with Nikon D700 raws

I'm getting some purple and green blotches (mostly purple) with Nikon D700 raws when using the "Camera Standard" profile. This happens a lot during sunset-ish shots. The problem goes away when I select the "Adobe Standard" the profile.
I just tried ACR 6.3 RC and the problem still exists. is this a known issue?
Would be happy to share a raw + screenshots if needed (currently on a relatively low bandwidth connection)

  • Vertical Purple and Green lines on start up!

    Hi,
I was using Logic X (10.1) and all of a sudden my screen went totally grey and I could here a constant click on my headphones.
After about a minute my Mac restarted itself and on the startup screen displayed thick vertical purple and green lines.
Once it had finished loading up it then went on to a blank white screen and then stayed on this blank white.
I shut down my Mac the restarted it three times and have encountered the same problem every time.
Any help or advice as to what may have caused this and or how it could be fixed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Why is everything pixelated and blurry in CS6?

    Hi,
A few months ago I installed the trial versions of Adobe Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop on my MacBookPro.  After they expired I purchased the standard student edition and used the provided key number to unlock the full versions.  However, everything (including the sample fonts list, icons and opening menu) are pixelated and blurry.  As a design student, it is incredibly distracting to see font that isn't smooth like it should be on a retina display...
I've updated Indesign to version 8.0.1 but to no avail.  What could be wrong and how might I solve this problem?
    Thank you,
    Cuong

@Tereyn "Since the originator has not stated that the software was tested on a non-retina display how can he/she or you be sure the display is the origin of the problem?"
Yes he does say that he is using a retina display.. Did you even read the post.
"As a design student, it is incredibly distracting to see font that isn't smooth like it should be on a retina display..."
If you have another problem why don't you create your own post?
It's still annoying for me that there isn't a retina fix yet and it's been a few years now. It's just a few menu icons. Fix the retina issue please!

  • Why Is Everything Gray and Fuzzy?

I basically use OS 9 on my MDD dual 1 gHz FW 400 with a 19" VGA CRT monitor. One of the reasons I rarely use OS X because after a reboot into the latest Tiger everything gets fuzzy and gray. The same document that was easy to read in Word in OS 9, becomes difficult to read because the type "thickens up" in addition to the gray and fuzzy.
Jpg's that looked great in OS 9 look awful in OS X.
The sliders for brightness and contrast in the Display System Preferences do not appear and calibrating the Color does little. I've tried adding a little contrast in the Universal Access Preference Pane. This has helped a some, but I can't get anything to look even almost as good as when the exact same hardware is booted into OS 9.
Was the colored Apple logo eliminated because it looked so lousy in OS X? Is there any way of bringing the crisp, clear look of OS 9 to Tiger? Thanks!

Check how the font anti-aliasing is set in System Preferences/Appearance. It should be set for "best for CRT".

  • PDF file converter...why is everything encoded and how do I change this?

If you are unable or unwilling to upgrade to Microsoft Office 2011, consider installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7 in Lion:
Office 2011 is known to sometimes scramble legacy Office data files.  For example, I access an Excel 2004 Chart on a weekly basis that is trashed when I attempt to open it in Excel 2011.  I open it in Excel 2004 in the Snow Leopard virtualized environment, modify it and save it for the next weekly access.

  • Hi, new to mac pro-fresh install of divx is purple and green

    emailed them, but no response

Here's a link to the apple way of removing drive bays, which you're no doubt well aware of how to do but at least you can double check. I'm assuming there's already a drive in bay #1, if so then it'll still be connected to the mother board and, as you say, very resistant.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/MacProHardDriveDIY.pdf
    and another one from 'mac.about'
    http://macs.about.com/od/diyguidesprojects/ss/hdinstallmacpro_4.htm
When I fitted another drive into mine I do recall having to give the carrier a good tug to get it out as it was in rather 'snugly'.
Apart from that I can't suggest anything else, except perhaps leave the screwdriver alone.
    Good luck!!

  • Purple and green pixels on my display

So I have this collection of pixels near the bottom of my screen but they're only visible over a dark grey area, like when you're in the login screen (I have an early 2013 MBPr 15 btw)
It's probably a problem with the screen itself and not the GPU (or maybe the connection between them?) since if I take a screenshot it's not visible and I've connected it to an external monitor and it doesn't have it.
    I took a picture of said problem https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/t31.0-8/10498470_86776579 3251439_1883342093630891920_o.jpg
I've had this for a few weeks now and I've tried those youtube videos (I just to have some image retention after leaving something to run for a long time) which have decreased the amount of pixels. They all dissapeared for a few hours and now they're back. Anyone know what to do?
I can live with the problem since it's only on dark grey areas, but my laptop is still under warranty so if I really have to I might bring it to the store and look what they have to say about it. But I really need this computer to work on atm.

Based on the information that you have provided, the fault lies with the display.  If it is under warranty, take it in and have it evaluated by the genius bar technician.
    Ciao.

That's just the way it is in full screen mode. You need to come out of FS to see the dots again.

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup

  • Why is everything in my playback monitor blown up (by 200% or so?), and why is it showing as 4:3?

Why is everything in my playback monitor blown up (by 200% or so?), and why is it showing as 4:3? I imported mxf files that show up fine in the preview monitor, but when edited into the timeline they now suddenly appear super blown up; there is a guy in a mid-shot interview situation, but now I only see his arm. Perhaps I hit  a wrong button by accident, but how can I resolve this? ALso, whether it's the same issue or whether it is unrelated I don't know, but in the playback monitor the aspect ratio seems 4:3; why is that? Any idea, on either topic, anyone? Thank you!!!!! I appreciate your help!!
