Why is everything so difficult since 'upgrading' to Maverick. I can't sync my Outlook calendar (default) with iCal or my iPad.
Also, I can't send pictures via Dropbox any more. Two basic necessities that I just can't get to work.

Microsoft didn't update Outlook to be Mavericks ready.
I don't really use Dropbox, but if their software doesn't work like it used to, they didn't update it for Mavericks.

  • Since upgrading to mavericks I can't sync my calendars or contacts from my iToys.

As the title says. Since updating to mavericks my contacts and calendars are not syncing. I connect my iToy and it seems to go through the syncing process but my contacts and calendars are not updated. Please help as I'm absolutely buggered at the moment.

I just got a new rMBP with Mavericks pre-installed (unfortunately) and this is my first day using it.  I've had this same issue.  The only thing that solved it was to restart finder by using an automator that showed (and hid) hidden files.
I actually  clicked the automator so I could easily drill down to the plist files so I could try deleting my old ones, but as soon as my desktop (and finder windows) came back up, I was able to click and drag again!  I assume it was because I restarted the process that runs finder.
This is obviously a bug in the OS somewhere, but at least this was a very quick fix to the issue for me. (Even if it's one I'll have to keep using as I have the problem resurface).

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't run Mail and Safari at the same time.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't run Mail and Safari at the same time.
Either Mail will crash or the iMac will run so slowly as to be unusable. With both running, the HDD spins constantly at a high rate of speed.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't set repeating reminders.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, not only did i loose some reminders, but I can't set repeat on my reminders.

I was reading solutions for Mountain Lion on this matter and I am trying one of those ideas, which was to simply copy a reminder that has the function available from before the upgrade and then overwrite the information I want as a "new" reminder. I wanted the "repeat" option, which I think only appears on the old reminders that have the "due date" option. Anyway, I tried it, and it works to get the "old reminders" back that have the "due date" and "repeat" option. WHAT A HASSLE! Note: I did start out with Lion in 2011, so apparently that's why I have the reminders that have both functions. I am irratated that I can't choose the "repeat" option like "every first Thurs. etc. that I had on my original "tasks" way back when. Grrrrrrrr!

How are you connecting the camera to your Mac? Do you use software supplied by the camera manufacturer to do it, and if so, has that software been updated to work with Mavericks?

  • I upgraded to Mavericks and can't find a driver to work with my EPSON Perfection 4990 scanner.  The Epson site says to update thru my mac but it there is nothing there.  Any suggestions?

I upgraded to Mavericks and can't get my Epson Perfection 4990 scanner to work.  I had gotten it to work with a driver I downloaded from EPSON with Mountain Lion

    Hi...
Epson is vorking on updating drivers and utilities for this scanner.
    From the epson site :
    "Description:
An OS X 10.9 compatible Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility for this model is not yet available but is coming soon. Please check back for availability."
So, until then you can only use the basic scanning provided by Image Capture.
Alternatively take a look on vuescan.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can no longer connect to my Bose Sounddock 10 via Bluetooth.  It was fine under Mountain Lion

Pairing my Bose Sounddock 10 to my Macbook Pro (early 2011) via Bluetooth was fine under Mountain Lion.  After installing Mavericks, connection failed. I deleted the Sounddock & attempted to pair it again.  I get an occasional 'flash' in the 'Devices' list, but no pairing occurs.
I have no issue pairing the Sounddock to my iPad running iOS 7.0.3.
Has Bluetooth been changed for Mavericks?
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I actually have the same problem, since I upgraded to Mavericks my MacBook Pro can't seem to find the Bose sounddock 10. Has anyone found a solution to this.
It still works with the iPhone 5
    Thank you

Once I upgrades to Mavericks, I first had trouble viewing my old documents saved in iCloud.  Apple Support phone call solved this.  Now I notice I cannot share any of my documents/pages via email.  It never gets past the "next" page for sharing via email.  Anyone with same problem?

  • Since upgrading to Maverick, I can't open my emails in aol on my iMac.  Any help?

Recently upgraded to Maverick (OS X  version 10.9.4) on my IMAC.   I have a mail account on AOL.  Since my upgrade, I can't open any of my messages.  Searched the net and can't seem to get an answer.  Any ideas?

    Two things you can try.
Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks I can only print one page of a multipage document.

Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks my HP Deskjet 6840 color printer will only print 1 page from a multipage document at a time no matter how I set the job.  And sometimes it prints the same page even thought I set the parameters for a different page. I have the latest driver. I can't find any solution on the HP site or elsewhere on the internet.

The driver should be part of OS X, not something you download.
This link shows supported HP printers (6800 but no 6840).

I suggest you delete the printer, turn it off, restart your system, and turn the printer on and add it back in.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks I can't click and drag or unlock to make changes.

As the title says, I upgraded to Mavericks, and since then, I haven't been able to click and drag anything from my desktop / finder etc. I can however drag windows around. I've check in the accessabiltiies options for the drag locking and that is set how it should be, but still hasn't fixed anythi
I also read that people had similar problems and tried a few of the fixes like force it to sleep and wake up. That didn't work, I also was going to make a new user, however it appears I am unable to unlock the lock in the bottom left. It blinks but doesnt unlock to make changes
Anyone have any similar issues? I'd appreciate any help

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't connect to my external Seagate hard drive. How to I fix this??????

I have two Seagate hard drives that were working fine for a couple years until I upgraded to Mavericks. They connect via USB and never show up in Finder.

I tried to connect a Samsung hard drive. Before Mavericks it was working fine. Now it won't appear in Finder and it can't be mounted in Disk Utility. As with previous issues I reported concerning iOS 7 and Mavericks, I wrote in this forum, but Apple never reacts. People are trying to help each other with workarounds, which is great, but the core issue isn't solved by Apple. It seems after Steve Jobs they're not concerned about quality that much anymore. The fact that I can't use a very common Samsung external hard drive on Mavericks is just way beyond deplorable. And what did I get in return? iBooks?

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can no longer see my Time Machine or printer on the network.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, what to do with existing Pages as opposed to new downloaded Pages?

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't use Pages in the dock. Have to go to utilities to use Pages. Do I remove the old Pages from the dock and then move new Pages to dock or what?

Calendar is a system app that lives in the Applications folder, as such it is the same app as the original Calendar.app. Pages is a new app & replaces the last version, however Apple think you may still need the old version so they moved it aside & created a new one inside the apps folder. It's unclear what is the right thing to do with the Dock icon in this case, because of the two copies.
Both should still work, the older one has some features that the new one doesn't, so keep both around if you have a lot of Pages files, you never know when it might be needed.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, 10.9.1, pictures that come attached to emails no longer display.  There is only a blank space that after about 1 minute, has a small box with a question mark.  Double clicking on the box will open the image in a separate window.  It's very slow and tedious for multiple images.  How can I go back to attached and displayed  images?  If I click on "Forward", the images appear instantly in the email to be forwarded.

    Scott,
My problem seemed to fix itself.  Or, by shutting down the computer one night, instead of putting it to sleep, may have reset something.  Since updating to Mavericks, I always (or usually) let the computer sleep overnight or anytime I'm walking away from it.  A few days ago, I was updating notes for my kids about how to find all my stuff and how to turn on my computer, so I wanted to rewrite the start-up procedures for the iMac, just in case they ever need to.  Well, I shut it down one night so the following morning, I could write down each step.  Lo and behold, the images, etc. are all there again!  Solved, but I'm not sure why.
