Why is FaceTime not connecting when it rings a number, is there an issue

FaceTime is calling a number, provides the connecting message and then does nothing? Is there an issue with faceTime at the moment?

Please sign out of FaceTime and sign back in. If there's no change, check that the date and time zone are correct in the Date & Time preference pane. Log out or restart the computer and try again.

    It sounds as if your account has been compromised. I would recommend logging into those accounts from your computer and their websites and changing your password.

    Normal secured WiFi requires only a password to get access. The password is used to encrypt traffic between your device and the WiFi access point. If whatever you are using requires a username as well then it is not simply normal secured WiFi. Could you clarify exactly which WiFi service you are using.

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    It finally seems to work (2nd day now and counting)...
    I tried the following with no luck:
    upgrading to iOS 5
    adding an associated e-mail and calling that associated e-mail
    do a full-scale registration of the e-mail (and making a free purchase via itunes) instead of a 'facetime only' registration
    this combo however seems to have done the trick:
    keeping the ipad2 plugged in
    changing the dns on the ipad to "8.8.4.4,8.8.8.8"
    If it continues to work for a few more days, then i think i can say the the problem is finally resolved.

    Make sure your devices are also connected to external power or the wifi will disconnect after a few seconds.  If they are and they still won't back up, it may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail.  To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, tap your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup.  Then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
    If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

    Do you mean the AC wall adapter or the cable when you say "charger"? Neither is a charger; the charger is built into the phone. You need to do some basic troubleshooting. First, try a different cable with the same AC adapter. Then try a different USB source such as the USB port on your computer. If you get the same message after both tests the problem lies in the phone. The most common cause of this message is dirt, moisture or pocket lint in the lightning connector on the bottom of the phone. Inspect it with a bright light and clean it with a plastic or wood toothpick. If none of these steps resolve the problem take the phone, cable and adapter to an Apple store for diagnosis.     Turn off your printer.
    Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan > Printers window and delete the printer from the list, then add it back.
    Turn on your printer.
    Any difference?
