Why is FF 7.01 so slow...Peacekeeper benchmarked at 2814 vs 3607 for 6.0.2 and 3693 for 4.01?
This is on a 2 year old Mac Mini with an Intel Core 2 Duo running Mac OSX 10.7 Lion.
Firefox is getting slower with age, not faster, as the other browsers are doing. While FF 7 benchmarked 2814 Google Chrome did very close to 7000...more than twice as fast. Opera was 4624, Safari 4239. Firefox used to be the fastest, now it is the slowest mainstream browser. This is a bad trend. When Chrome gets a good mouse gestures add-on (like Firegestures) and an easy to use text highligher (like Wired-Marker) I'm leaving FF forever.

Why an insert journal concurrent works for one app user and not for other?
We have two app users. User A and User B. They have same responsibilities and grants over same functions and menus. When they run a custom insert journal concurrent, only user A can execute it successfully.
User B uses same parameters and data as User A, but when User B runs concurrent, it always fails
What is the difference between this users?
How we can check this difference?Hi,
did you check user specific profile option settings as well?
In addition, it would be helpful to have some more input
regarding the error which is raised when user B runs the
concurrent (concurrent log file output).

Why is my Macbook pro so slow? And what can I do to fix this?
Greetings, I got my MacBook pro one and a half a year ago. For some reason, the last 4 months the computer has started to slow down. I get issues such as.
- Beach ball appearing to often, even for simple commands such as open folder. etc.
- Video files skipping frames. (any video file on any program. Even if its a buffer video such as youtube or Netflix).
- Programs such as Photshop, Final Cut Pro etc, takes forever to render and work properly.
- Web Browser taking forever to close a tab.
I am currently running a OS X V.10.8.5
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1600 MHz DDR3
353.2GB Freespace out of 499.25.
Could any one explain why would a mac slow down? (not a speculation, just why would it slow down like this. Especially the beach ball uninvited appearence).
I looked up the problem on the net, I get way to many differant answears that lead to getting scam programs, and or other 3rd party programs. (I did not download any of them)
I hope some of you understand the problem and have an answear to this. I tried to ask apple support, but they ask for money. I have a feeling that mac slow down forcing you to buy support intentionally (this is just a thought).
I avoid downloading uppdates from apple, because most people I know who uppdate macs always end up with a slow computer. + Last time I tried to uppdate the mac, I got a gray screen that blocked me from using the computer at all. To avoid this problem again, uppdating is not an option.
Pardon my English, it is not my native tounge.
Thank you for reading.1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) on the advice of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At or near the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "System Version." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

Why is does my apple run SLOW.you go to open a program and the circle thing just spins for a delayed period of time. You change from typing in a word doc and go to say email or internet and it takes several minutes to allow you open anything up. Like it is frozen. I have tried rebooting the computer and it works for a few minutes then gets stuck.

Why is my iPod touch getting slower and slower
Please can anyone tell me why my iTouch is getting slower and slower?
also why do we have to do so many updates?
Can I go back to the original software for my ipod touch?
sorry for so many questions but they are related- All I can say in this Apple forum is that downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
- Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.

Then after a normal start I did the disk utility thing, I could only verify and not repair since it seems to be ok? :
Then I tried the SMC reset according to the link you sent me, not sure if I did it right cause step 4 and 5 under
Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own
were somehow the same, after I released everything I didnt have to press power button separately (step5), the mac started already (after step4)
@Lex: I'm really wondering about those two old applications
1) I didn't find anything useful about camerawindow or canon tools, except that it helps connecting my canon powershot G15 camera with a smartphone... don't even says if it works with my camera model nor if it works with mavericks...
2) ...Silverlight/OutOfBrowser/SLLauncher.app: Is it needed for what? After looking up it just said useful for webbrowsers, maybe better video quality etc. isn't that something good? if I delete it from my library will there e noteable differences when I use the internet?
besides that i deleted and update like u suggested and did a check again:

@hands: thanks for note -
Why is my iMac running so slow?
I noticed in the past few months my iMac 27' mid 2011 was running slow.
A lot of times when I click a link or something another window will open up and it will be some sort of junk website. Occasionaly there is this "WebCake" bar that pulls up on the side.
Overall my Mac has been running pretty slow and I do not understand why. I still have 789GB left of free space and it is running Mac OS X Lion 1.7.5, 4 GB memory and everything.
Everything is up to date but it still doesn't run as smoothly and quickly as it did when I first got it.
Please don't link me to anything without expaning what it is
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
ThanksHello Linc, care to have a looksee at my incredibly slow iMac? Any help greatly appreciated.

why is my mac so slow i have cleansed and cleaned it is a 2010 mac mini i5 but it runs like a 20 year old pc i have only had it for a few months and it was straight out of the box
I'm thinking that you have a > Mac mini (Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications because the 2010 model's only have Core 2 Duo processors and the 2011 had the first i5 processor.
2 GB of RAM is the minimum requirement for Mountain Lion, but it's hardly enough to really enjoy doing anything else.
see > Memory and Free Installation Guides for Apple Mac Mini
Plus I don't have any problems running Mountain Lion and a load of App's on my 2010 Mac Mini with 8GB of RAM. -
Why is the itunes download so slow
why is the itunes download so slow - I am trying to download itunes update to recognize my new ipod touch 5th generation and my pc will not even show it in itunes, in trying to download the update the speeds are so slow that it is estimating download time in days. I have stopped and started the apple in services, but it is still unrecognized.
you know very well it has nothing to do with itunes or the modem/router. apple servers are very very slow and its an absolute disgrace.
you can download from third party servers at twice the speeds (at your own risk)
Apple is the second largest company in the world and they treat customners in this way -

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
Sluggish Finder - Bunch of icons on your desktop? An overcrowded desktop slows down your Mac. Get rid of needless Finder calculations - Open a window in Finder/View/Show View Options: ensure "Calculate All Sizes" option is unchecked.
Internet related - It's likely that your broadband connection is the bottleneck. You can check your speed on http://www.speedtest.net to see how fast your connection is. If your web browser specifically performs slowly, quit and relaunch it. If browser remains sluggish, empty its cache. Safari/Empty Cache Firefox/Preferences - select the Network tab of the Advanced preferences and click the "Clear Now" button in the "Offline Storage" area.
Application related - Launch "Activity Monitor" - Applications/Utilities - click the CPU heading and see what float to the top. If an application takes up a large chunk of CPU and won't let it go, it could be dragging down your Mac's performance. Quit it by clicking the Quit Process button at the top of the Activity Monitor window.
Too little ram - max out your ram. -
Why is the wi-fi so slow??
Why is the wi-fi so slow on the time capsule??? Brand new bought last week? help? running about 13 devices on more than one network. Help please..
Is it slow compared to other devices.. ??
Give numbers.. cannot operate from general comments.
Is this 2.4ghz.. are you splitting the load over 2.4ghz and 5ghz??
Have you tried using SMB names.. short no spaces pure alphanumeric, with different name for 5ghz.
Lock the wireless channel for 2.4ghz and test 1, 6, 11 in turn.
Using WPA2 personal security only.. with 8-12 character passkey.. pure alphanumeric of course. -
Why is the download speed so slow?
I have 100MB internet, and I am able to receive that speed with other applications. (I literally just tested with steam and got 9.1MB/s, at the same time as the Adobe download is running)
My Adobe download is 35 KB/sec or less, seriously guys? I don't intend to leave my PC downloading for 2 days just to get software!
I have tried both with the download manager (The download errored at 78% after I had left it running for about 6 hours) and now the browser (I've managed to get 1.6GB of the 5.8GB in 6 hours, currently running at 36.8KB/sec)
In the same time period I have downloaded the entire of GTA IV (15.6GB) and managed to play it for 5 hours!
Any idea what is causing it to be this slow or is the download service really this bad?I'm using gigabit wired internet, with an appropriate network card and router, my firewall is completely disabled (both on my router and my pc) and I don't see why anti-virus should interfere with the download,
What is the general download speed normally received? Would you recommend using the browser download or the download manager?
I'm happy if this is just a "slow day" for adobe server or something, but my internet seems to be 100% fine as several other downloads I have tried have managed to get full speed even while the Adobe download is left running. (I obviously have had these other downloads off the majority of the time the adobe download has been running)
Cheers for the response,
Rob -
Why is the Space Constant so slow?
Obviously I'm asking comparatively since they are faster then the blink of an eye.
When trying to optimize some of my functions I've noticed that this one constant is really slow.
Here's my test VI: I simply am measuring the time it takes to append a character to a string. If the string doesn't exist, don't add anything. This also prevents the compiler from optimizing out the for loop.
Most cases I've averaged about 250 ms. However, if I used the space constant instead of putting a space character in a string constant. It nearly 10-fold the time it takes to nearly 2.1 seconds.
So I question why is this the case? I don't see why all the other constants (I checked) run at full speed, but the space constant (which I can see it's block diagram) takes significantly longer. Is this a bug?

As for being flawed. I wanted it to be. I don't want my for loop to be folded away. This simple test VI is so simple that it takes literally 10 million runs to have reasonible run time for compairison. If you fold it away to a single run, you can't see the effects.
Well, it is flawed in the wrong way, because most likely the presence of a subVI will cause more complicated debugging code and the effect might be secondary. You could e.g. eliminate folding by e.g. doing a comparison of "[i] != 0" or "[i] AND 1" for the case decision. Now all variantions seem to be about the same speed (with or without debugging, resp., where debugging poses a large penalty).

Why is the On Demand so slow to respond
Title says it all
Why is the On Demand so slow to respond?
You have very fast Internet but extremely On Demand Programming Why is that?
Fix it or ill have to go back to Road Runner. My wife runs a Preschool/Daycare and needs Fast On Demand programming because she's very busy with the kids.
She allows them to watch some of the children's programming if they did well in the class work but she doesn't have time to wait for the EXTREMELY SLOW Response.Memory leakage causes it to run slow. One way to easily fix this is to reboot the box. It will automatically reallocate memory. To reboot, simply unplug power cord for 1 min then plug back in.
