Why is firefox 13.1 in safe-mode slow running on windows 2008 R2?

Issue I connect to a large company support site and it takes forever to down load the site information.
I do not have this problem with IE.

The problem exists in normal and safe mode. I switched to safe-mode after reading an issue about firefox being slow when to much memory was grabbed by add-ons. So I have the problem in normal and safe-mode. Changing the proxy setting did not help. Thank you to all for the suggestions. Note my windows 2008 R2 is a 64 bit platform.

  • Firefox has gone into safe mode. what happened and how do i fix it?

when i loaded firefox it went into safe mode and now firefox is useless

How do you know it is in Safe Mode?
Normally closing Firefox - Firefox button>Exit or File>Exit - and waiting a few seconds before re-opening should put you back into Normal Mode.
If not, check with Task Manager and close Firefox if it is still running.

Can you give a description of what you call "Safe Mode" From my reading, the "Safe Mode" is something added on by a specific tool used to Jailbreak an iPhone. Unless you are talking about something different.

  • Firefox comes up in "safe" mode. How do I turn it off. I can't use the program this way.

About two weeks ago some virus (?) got in my computer. I lost everything and had to reload everything.
When I reloaded Firefox it came up 'locked'. Nothing would react to my mouse.
I discovered it came up in "safe" mode. I removed the program and reloaded it again. It came up in safe mode again. When I hit start and look at programs Firefox is there and under it is another Firefox program with safe mode in parenthesis. I can't use it this way. How do I turn safe mode off?

See [[Firefox is stuck in Safe Mode]], the last option seems to be the most likely in your case.

You have limited opportunity to attempt to create a backup of your created files.
That is what the SafeBoot or safemode appears to allow you -- at the moment.
Since the hard disk drive exhibits signs of failure or other major issues, plan
on a replacement in the near future. You may be able to get the computer to
start up in a regular full OS X (not safe mode) but consider its hours are limited.
An externally enclosed hard disk drive (with own power supply, not relying on
Mac ports to run it) is a good basic means of which to use a disk utility to make
a copy or a Clone of the current OS X. This may help retrieve an archive that
could be used along with a Time Machine backup, to restore your Mac once you
get a new hard drive installed inside.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I use Safe Mode to troubleshoot in Windows 8 or Windows 7?

QuestionHow can I use Safe Mode to troubleshoot in Windows 8 or Windows 7?
AnswerWindows has a special mode known as Safe Mode. It is not fully functional, but it allows you to make changes to the laptop to hopefully fix normal mode. We're going to attempt to boot into Safe Mode to use it fix the laptop.
For more information on how to boot into Safe Mode please see the following articles:
How To: Safe Mode and other Advanced Startup Options in Windows 8
Creating a System Repair Disc for Windows 8 (useful for entering Safe Mode)
How To: Start your Windows 7 computer in Safe Mode
Use Safe Mode to undo recent changes
When a computer won't start Windows, it's usually due to a recent change. If you installed a new piece of software before your laptop began to have trouble booting, you may want to uninstall it. Similarly, if you recently made a change to any system settings, you may want to change it back. If you have antivirus software, you may want to perform a scan. If you're not sure what to do here, feel free to skip to the next step!
Use Safe Mode to perform a system restore
Windows includes a utility called System Restore that can help with many problems. While this won't alter or remove any of your personal files, it will roll back your system settings and files to an earlier date. We'll use this to attempt to fix Windows.
To learn how to use System Restore, please check the following articles:
How To: Understanding System Restore, Refresh, Reset, and, Recovery options in Windows 8 + Video
How To: Perform a system restore in Windows 7
Use Safe Mode to initiate a clean boot
As Windows loads, it loads many additional components such as services and startup items. Some of these are not vital. For example, some tools start immediately with Windows, such as antivirus software. From Safe Mode, we can instruct Windows not to load many of these. This will help you determine if one is causing Windows not to load properly. Note that this step is more advanced than the previous steps. If it seems difficult for you, you may consider asking for help from someone who is more comfortable with computers.
Please view the following article for more information:
How can I perform a clean startup without my startup items to troubleshoot a problem?
If Windows loads normally, you'll know one of those startup items or services was causing the problem. If this is the case, you may want to return to the System Configuration Utility and re-enable some items and services to determine which specific one caused the problem.
    Backing up your data
If you're able to enter Safe Mode, backing up your data should be easy. Connect a USB flash drive or external drive to your computer while in Safe Mode and then copy your important  files to the flash drive or external drive.
You may also want to consider taking your computer to a professional.

Would love to know if this is possible. Found forums dating back years asking exactly the same thing, no solutions. And I do not want to change my headset (Sennheiser MM-50), or use the onboard mic (which sounds like you are using your Mac in a wind tunnel once the fans kick in).

  • Disable "Safe Mode with Networking in Windows 7"

    Hello,
Does anyone know, how to disable "Safe Mode With Networking" option from Windows 7 boot menu?

    Hi,
Base on my research, there’s no official method to disable Safe Mode with networking in Windows 7.

Thank You .This is what I was afraid.
I work  at school and We have one problematic classroom. It's http traffic is blocked by a FSecure's firewall, but students have figured out a way. They boot computers to safe mode with networking and after that
they have access to the Internet! Now We have to change Microsofts's own firewall.

  • Firefox abruptly switched into safe mode. How do it return it to normal mode?

I use Firefox with Google Search as my home page. Today (12/3/10) I closed the page and was informed that Firefox was not running in safe mode and all my preferences--bookmarks etc.--were not available. I managed to restore bookmarks and other features by following directions on a screen that gave me those choices. However the Firefox
icon has disappeared from my opening screen and I cannot figure out how to restore it. Firefox is still listed on my menu as in safe mode. If I bring up the home page and try to right click to create a new icon, I get a screen that tells me how to restore (or delete) those preferences I have already restored.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I could not make them work. The easiest route for me turned out to be uninstalling the program, keeping my preferences intact and reinstalling the browser. Seems to work fine now. Icon was restored and when I deleted the "Firefox (safe mode)" from the menu, it was instantly replaced by the name of the browser in normal mode.
I still don't know why or how this happened, but the solution above seems to be satisfactory and it didn't take too long.

  • How do I stop Firefox from opening in Safe Mode?

Every time I open Firefox it opens in Safemode. I have checked the properties and it doesn't say any thing about Safe mode being on. Also, I have disabled all my addons restarted my computer, tried opening from a different location, and reinstalled Firefox.

Make sure that you do not use a shortcut key that uses only the Shift key or have the Shift key pressed if you click the desktop shortcut.
If you do have a shortcut key that only uses Shift then change that to use Shift + Ctrl or Shift + Alt.

  • Firefox will not open up. It gives me the choice to reset firefox or open safe mode. reset firefox does nothing and safe mode just continues to load .

When it is in safe mode the wheel just spins and nothing happens. When reset firefox is selected nothing happens. I have erased firefox and redownloaded it many times and the same thing occurs.

Can you bring up the Profile Manager to create a new profile?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

  • When I open Firefox, even in safe mode, it causes my Windows 7 64-bit to totally crash and I get that blue screen of death =(. This has happened suddenly on Nov 16, 2010. I had been running Firefox on Windows 7 64-bit with no problems previously. Help?

I have had Windows 7 64 bit for the past year and have run Firefox with no problem. It was the most problem free of the three browsers including IE and Chrome.
I have a Vista side where I run my online backup and did so yesterday. Went on Firefox. No Problem.
Today I booted into the Windows 7 side. Seemed to boot up okay. Until I opened Firefox. Suddenly, my whole computer crashed, windows shut down and that bluescreen popped up. I restarted normally. Same thing. I restarted in safe-mode. Couldn't find any problems. Went back to regular mode. Started FF. Boom crash.
Back to safe mode. Did a system restore. Back to regular startup. Didn't help. Attempting to open FF crahed windows.
So back to safe mode. Started Firefox. Crashed the whole computer and same blues screen.
So I uninstalled FF. Reinstalled FF. It still makes Windows crash.
So now I am on IE :P

See below -- the way I asked the question the first time may not be clear. This post was a goof but I can't figure out how to delete it

  • Firefox crashes, even in safe mode, when I try to add attachments in Yahoo mail -- running Mac OSX 10.4.11, FF 3.6.16.

Firefox has consistently crashed when adding attachments in Yahoo mail. For a while Firefox would crash immediately when I clicked "attach." Then, for a while it would allow me to upload files if they were located in a folder that the Yahoo mail application opened when I clicked "attach," but if I tried to navigate to a different folder, I would crash when I clicked on the root user folder. I then updated Flash and tried Firefox in safe mode, and now Firefox (in safe mode or not) is again crashing as soon as I click attach in Yahoo mail. My system is as above, Mac OSX Tiger (10.4.11) on an original Mac Pro, all stock parts (I had added some aftermarket RAM but removed it some time ago, before these crashes started). Firefox does NOT generate a crash report dialog when I restart.

can't make much of this crash log but try this. when you get to the smtp server page in setup assistant hold option while clicking "create" or 'continue". this will skip the actual server validation and might prevent crashing.

  • FIREFOX IS STUCK IN SAFE MODE, AND IS NOT RESPONDING TO FIXES SUGGESTED BY THE ARTICLE ON THAT SUBJECT

The article I'm referring to is this one:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20is%20stuck%20in%20Safe%20Mode?s=safe+mode&as=s
I went through all three suggestions, still have the problem. Using Windows XP.

Yesterday I tried starting it from the "all programs" path instead of the quick launch button. Didn't work. Restarted the computer and tried from the quick launch button. Didn't work. Just tried it again from the "all programs" path , and now it's working in normal mode again. What the heck?
    Well, I'll take it.
