Why is firefox 8 incompatible with skype

I too am sick of this constant updating and breaking the extensions. This costs me time and money every time they throw out another version without bothering to spend time on preparing it thoroughly. Firefox 8 is not compatible now with several Extensions including Skype and I just missed an important call and cannot get back to them. How do I go back to Firefox 7 and QUICKLY! I've seen others asking this question and some provided a link to Firefox 7 download but those were unable to connect - Firefox showed Invalid URLs. I've been getting a lot of those again recently ever since the Version 8 update. This is terribly rude and inconsiderate. Beginning to seem like arrogance if they keep ignoring this same common complaint on every update. I'm losing time here. Anyone know how to get to a valid page for Firefox 7 download?

First off, you have things backwards. Firefox doesn't have to be compatible with Skype, add-ons need to be compatible with Firefox - which is the primary application which is being "added" to when it comes to add-ons for Firefox.
Second, that Skype add-on / extension has long been notorious for being "problematic" and causing all sorts of grief for many Firefox users. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions = 3/4 down that list
What's rude, inconsiderate, and arrogant is Skype not keeping that extension up-to-date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. Regardless of Mozilla's new fast release schedule for Firefox or not, Skype needs to either support their customer's or "cut bait" and stop saying their application works with Firefox, if they aren't up to the responsibility they took on by creating a Firefox add-on for their program.
You can download Firefox 7.0.1 for Windows [http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/7.0.1/win32/en-US/ here]. Be aware that it is no longer supported and doesn't have the security fixes that are in Firefox 8.0.

No, it doesn't affect your anti-virus program, only the silly little extensions that some anti-virus applications install into Firefox that duplicate features which are built into Firefox = anti-phishing & web forgery protection.

Why is Firefox communicating with China from the UK?

Hello there, I'm using a Firefox beta v13) and have had my firewall warn me that Firefox was attempting an outbound communication to IP 117.21.224.232. It's done this before (in prior versions too) and if I deny the connection, Firfox stops working.
I finally did a lookup on the IP and found that it's in China. Why is Firefox doing this and how do I make it stop? I'm rather worried.

Have you tested in Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether it is caused by a custom setting or add-on?
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
If you still get the connection out, you could also try disabling all update checking (Options > Advanced > Update > "Never check"). Does that make any difference?

To solve problem I had to downgrade the version of Firefox from latest to an earlier version.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

i updated firefox and haven't been able to open it since. i installed new flash, uninstalled it..makes no difference. it crashes as soon as it starts to open. after 2 quiet days i am finding more instances of other people having the same problem. on safari now, would rather not stay there...it seems it is not just an issue with me

My Skype to Go Number Incompatible with Skype

Around two month ago I started using MagicJack, everything works good with the phone, even when I call out US to my favorites/registered skype numbers works fine; but for no registered/favorite number I need to call through my (local) main sjype number this (Majicjack) tells me "to call a conference line or platform visit us to MajickJack-dot-com to purchase pre-paid minutes"; why????

Further to the above, in this case, the Skype caller, when calling my magic number would be 'connected' briefly and then nothing. At the MJ end, the MJ phone would ring, the Skype caller's phone number would be displayed but there was no voice communication between us.
So there you have it.

Why does firefox startup with previous history window

Why does my Firefox (3.6.17) now always startup with a window on the left of screen displaying all the previous url's I have used grouped into 'Today', 'Yesterday', 'last 7 days', 'May', 'April'?
I cannot remember changing any setting for this to happen and now I cannot find how to turn off this annoying window.

That are probably JavaScript window.open() calls that specify window dimensions.
You can divert those to a new tab.

Adobe Reader and Firefox incompatible with network users

We have 17 workstations running OSX 10.7.3, all users log in to OD "Home Accounts". The problem seems to be when making Adobe Reader v 10.1.3 default reader, logging out then logging in causes, Preview app to become default reader. This issue also happens with Firefox and Safari. Set Firefox to be default browser, log out, then back in Safari is now default. These issues don't seem to be an issue when running as local user, only network user. A side note, is the default setting stays in effect until you log out.
I seem to recall in earlier days, certain local apps had problems connecting daemons to external servers.
We can't possiblly be the only users with this issue.

I have 10.7.4 and have the same issues that everytime I log out, my browser goes back to Safari and pdfs open with Preview! Grrrr!! I cannot get my preferences to retain these 2 things - very frustrating! And this is only since I moved over to Lion .....

Why does it seem that http://www.bing.com/weather/ (and certain others) (I'd say 97-98 % of the time) cause the Firefox "not responding" message ? Granted Firefox recovers usually within about 30 seconds BUT it's getting to be really annoying because it seems that it's an ongoing problem.

Is the latest version of firefox incompatible with some scripting applications?

Since upgrading, some popup and redirect pages won't load, at all. Nothing in the URL bar, nothing on the page. It does not appear to be a popup blocker issue, It still happens when ABP is disabled, and only started after I upgraded. Also, when I tried to log into my email account, nothing happened when I hit "sign in". I opened google chrome and used it to sign in.

It's a bit more "technical" than most people want, but it should work.
