I have the same problem at it renders facebook unusable. Rebooting my computer or firefox has no effect on it. I doubt that it is any of my addons as the only one that updated in the last week I uninstalled because I was unhappy with it, TACO With Albine.

  • I have a report from WhatisHang which (in theory) tells my why my firefox constantly hangs up. But I need someone who can help figure this out.

I hope this section will work, i couldnt find a place for Hang ups, and this problem doesnt usually cause a full crash, which is why it was hard to figure it out.
I finally used the program WhatisHang to try to get an idea of what is causing the seemingly random hanging, but have been unable to find anyone who can help me with it.
I have posted the Troubleshooting Information, though i dont think it would be of much help.
I have the report available but dont know where i can post it.

I must admit I seem possibly to be suffering from hangs also, although as I am often not in a hurry when using firefox on this machine it has little impact. I am using a legacy computer and tend to blame this on the computer or maybe background tasks such as from security software or indexing.
'''Do you still get the hangs in safe mode with all''' (or maybe all but one essential plugin if you think a plugin is involved in the hangs) '''plugins disabled ?
Have you tried to rule out
    * background tasks are the problem, <br/>(at least monitor what else is running using Task Manager or sysinternals process explorer)
    * [[is my firefox problem a result of malware|malware]]. <br/>( consider full system scans with multiple tools/software)
    * any other interacting programs or plugins <br/>(some may not be listed in firefox, you may need to check / uninstall from the OS {Windows Control Panel})
**it may also be an idea to check hangs still occur when WhatIsHangs is not in use.
    * have you tried logging the cc & gc times in the error console, <br/>(if for instance you see times in 1000s of milliseconds appearing you may have then identified one reason for firefox being unresponsive, even if the cause is not yet identified. - a symptom the memshrink firefox developers will no doubt be eager to investigate)
    * if you can get hangs in safe mode, on at least the Aurora channel releases I suggest you immediately go ahead and file a bug yourself. (I will try to find time if not today then next weekend to look more closely at my own system to see if it is showing hangs in firefox use)
** ideally try with all default preferences
** As you have changed preferences, I suggest you include as a attachment in the bug your list of user modified preferences (use ''about:support'' or Troubleshooting Information option)
** State what security software is in use, it could be an important factor.<br/> (I imagine the majority of users have security software, or if not have security vulnerabilities and potentially an undetected malware problem)
I will try to find and download a copy of WhatIsHang, see if it works on my system and what results it then shows.
I realise I have not said anything terribly helpful I solving your problem, but I suspect you are not alone in having hangs, if you are able to spare the time to investigate and report I am sure it will help others.
Firefox has had a few problems recently that would have been solved sooner if they were investigated when first reported, but unfortunatly an advantage of firefox is how easy it is to customise, but the downside is differentiating between a firefox fault and customisation problems.

  • Why do firefox CONSTANTly, again, CONSTANTLY freeze when I am doing things???? It is irritating and needs to be fixed right now. I am always forced to restart and lose whatever I was doing.

Whenever I am in my online school, the site CONSTANTLY freezes up on me. Fix this now.

Please believe that the problem is with your set-up not Firefox.
I think you are going to have to work your way through this(Safe Mode, Problematic Extensions etc) - there is no magic button -
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes
Make sure your plug-ins(such as Flash, which isn't) are up-to-date.
For the record, this forum is mostly run by volunteer helpers who are users just like you. All of our Firefox versions are working beautifully.

  • Why is Firefox so slow on Facebook and it's applications? How do I fix this problem?

I love Firefox, but when I am on Facebook, especially Farmville or one of the other applications I use on Facebook, Firefox slows down drastically. It is Firefox because I downloaded Google Chrome and it is lightning fast while playing Farmville etc. I've done everything I could think of, including uninstalling some of the larger Add-on's that I had downloaded using Firefox. Nothing has sped it up even a little bit. I don't want to change browsers, but I hate switching back and forth between Firefox and Chrome. Does anyone know if anything is being done about this problem?
Facebook keeps encouraging me to download their toolbar that can only be used on Firefox, I want to but sheesh, I can't handle the turtle speed of Firefox, I'm way to impatient for that.
Been a Firefox supporter for many years, hate to change now.

    Hi Sara,
I'm sorry that you're having issues with Firefox and Farmville. My first suggestion is to ensure that your plugins are up to date. For instance, Farmville relies on the Flash plugin, and I've noticed that your version is slightly out of date. You can check your plugins on our Plugin Check page: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/]
Also, some add-ons, like CoolIris, require a fair amount of system resources to operate. i love add-ons and wouldn't surf the web without them, but sometimes it's easier to disable all of them and just turn on the ones you use to determine if any of them are the culprit.
Another way to determine whether or not the problem is with Firefox or your installed add-ons is to create a fresh profile. You can create a new profile alongside your existing one that doesn't have any of your add-ons or bookmarks installed. Don't worry, it doesn't delete any of your existing data and switching between profiles is easy.
Here's an article on how to do this:
Your loyalty to Firefox is appreciated, and I hope this helps you with your problems- please reply if you'd like more help.

  • Why does Firefox constantly use 50-60% of my processes in Task Manager when I am not active on line?

This is a frequent (2-3 times a day) occurrence when Firefox all of sudden is using processes even when I am not actually actively using websites? I may be just reading on a page and my task usage will be over 50%. Sometimes it will be just "firefox" and sometimes "plug-in for firefox".

See if you still have the issue in Safe Mode http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
Maybe you have too many addons or a corrupted profile.

  • Why is Firefox constantly trying to direct me to other web site Pogo on line games to be exact.

Fire fox keeps preventing the POGO site of which I am glad and I keep closing the page and it keeps wanting to redirect and Firefox prevents it. This has become a never ending cycle that is driving me nuts.

Firefox has an option to stop and ask permission for certain redirects. You can turn that back off here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"
Does that allow you to get to Pogo normally?
Firefox 23 includes a new feature to block unsecured content (HTTP) in a secure page (HTTPS). In that case, you will see a new "shield" icon to the left of the URL on the address bar. This allows you to reload the page including all of the content, but perhaps that isn't working well on Pogo? The following article has more information on this mixed content blocking feature: [[How does content that isn't secure affect my safety?]]

  • Why is firefox constantly reloading the page I am browsing, irregardless of flash video content being present?

No matter which web page I visit, every 2 to 3 seconds the page reloads automatically...how do I fix this?

    Hi dustinsemailaddress
We can't read your mind :-) so please give us troubleshooting details so we can support you:
    # What version of Android, what version of Firefox and what tablet or phone are you using?
    # What did you do, what did you expect, what happened (please give as much details as you can! i.e. the steps you did including web page urls to get to "No matter which web page I visit, every 2 to 3 seconds the page reloads automatically..")
    Cheers!

  • Why does Firefox constantly crash? This problem has become epidemic.

This is but one of many websites that cause Firefox to stop working.
I am using an Asus laptop, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit computer.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).<br />

why is the new firefox constantly blinking on my screen? everything else is fine but firefox now blinks and is unusable in 4.0

Hi DGuerra, based on a past thread, the missing comments may be related to using avast! and its browser add-on(s).
Firefox is so easy to customize that it's not really surprising to find differences between two systems. These can relate to the menu choices (orange Firefox button or classic menu bar), toolbar layouts, and of course, add-ons.
If you have a preference for one setup versus another, hopefully these articles can equalize some of those layout issues:
    * [[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar]]
    * [[Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars]]
You can compare extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
Perhaps you can get the two side-by-side to make it easier, or to extract a text list, you can use the troubleshooting information page. Either:
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
The button in the upper left corner "Copy text to clipboard" will grab the configuration information from entire page.

  • The Windows Live Help Website Constantly Refreshes In Firefox

    Hello,
I would like to report a strange problem that I am having with the Windows Live Help website when using Firefox, I did not have this problem until recently, the website was working fine in older versions of Firefox and Firefox 8.
I was using Firefox 8 without any problems with the website but recently the website started constantly refreshing trying to Read Support.Microsoft.com and WindowsLiveHelp.com, making the page un-useable.
I tried running Firefox in Safe Mode, but that did not work.
I updated Firefox to 8.01, but that did not work.
I updated to Firefox 9, but that did not work.
I uninstalled Firefox and installed it, but that did not work.
I ran CCleaner, but that did not work.
Most or all of my software is up-to-date, and my computer is malware free according to AVG Free, Emsisoft Anti-Malware Free, Hitman Pro Free, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free.
I am guessing that something changed with the website itself maybe, but the Microsoft Team suggest that I post this issue here.
    My Post there is here:
    http://windowslivehelp.com/thread.aspx?postid=7825ED88-D166-4E6A-9AB9-74CCD80B2765#7825ED88-D166-4E6A-9AB9-74CCD80B2765
A similar problem happened in Windows Live Mail (Web) after Microsoft did an update, but after a day the problem stopped, and several days later a similar and worse problem is now happening with their Windows Live Help website with Firefox; but this problem is not happening in IE9.
I have Firefox set to clear all temporary data when it exits and I am using Norton DNS.
    Thanks,
    -John Jr :)

That is a problem with a script on that page that tries to go to a non-existing uppercase anchor (the lowercase version is there) and keeps retrying that.

  • Why is my Muse slideshow webpage constantly refreshing?

You can see it in action here:  http://www.thornehills.com/coupons.html.  Our customers print their coupons from the page but it's suddenly started a constant refresh that will not allow anyone to print.
    Thanks in advance!
    Dedi

No sense in looking.  I pulled it all back into Muse after updates were applied to the program, deleted the slideshow and recreated it.  The page is no longer constantly refreshing.

  • Why does Firefox always block any link I try to open going to a web page when I don't have pop up blocker on?

Why does Firefox always block any link I try to open going to a web page when I don't have pop up blocker on? First off they are not even pop ups....your crap blocks everything and don't save user names &/or passwords when you have it checked. Also in your tutorials about solving this issue says it has the word "OPTION" .......no, it never says option to allow you to bypass it and etc. Only thing is says is "ALLOW" . That would be nice , but the problem is it will not allow it from then on. It only allows it right then and then you have to refresh...after that to open again it blocks it again.....HOW STUPID?!!!!!
It always say that this is preventing this page from automatically redirecting to another page. THIS IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO DO...GO TO ANOTHER PAGE........I DON'T NEED YOUr BROWSERS PERMISSION TO DO THAT. THAT IS WHAT A *%#$&*(&*%$$%% BROWSER IS FOR TO GO TO OTHER PAGES......THEY ARE NOT POP UPS!!!!!
YOU STUPID BROWSER ACTUALLY BLOCKS EVERYTHING AND THAT SUX!!!
    HELP!!

Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes"?
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
    *do not clear the Cookies
*do not clear the Site Preferences
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you want to keep.
Let all cookies expire when you close Firefox.
