Why is firefox for android so slow over ipv6?

firefox for anddroid is much slower than dolphin and chrome over ipv6.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing. <br>
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies, do the following:
#Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
#Tap '''Settings'''.
#After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section '''''Privacy & Security''''' and select '''Clear private data'''.
#You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
#*Cookies & active logins
#*Cache
#After those have been selected, tap the '''Clear data''' button to actually clear the cache and cookies.

  • Why does Firefox for android spring open when I clear notifications or open files?

    Motorola Moto G
    Latest Firefox for android
    Android KitKat
Why does Firefox spring open, even after I quit, because I have cleared notifications or opened a file I downloaded. I have double checked Firefox is NOT set to open images or videos automatically, es

ES File Manager is my default player for almost all media. Firefox is not set to default.
Here is a step by step.
I see a picture I like so I download it. Firefox has now sent me a notification that the download is complete. After eventually closing the browser, I then clear notifications. Upon doing so, Firefox opens, regardless of whether it was running in the background or truly closed.
    Thanks

  • Why does Firefox for Android crash when I try to play any media or plugin content?

I have had this device ASUS MEMO Pad for 6 months and Firefox for Android has never been able to play any media or plugin content without crashing. I have tried playing flash with the appropriate flash plugin installed and without and it crashes every time (it should not crash even without the plugin - it should handle it).
Even HTML5 video and mp3 audio will cause a crash every time (with tap to play enabled or disabled).

  • Why is Firefox for Android and Nook HD+ such garbage?

it's very annoying, u can't save pages, the menu system sucks, the top is stupidly designed to hide after a few seconds, the tab system is stupidly hidden and confusing and hard to use! make it the way it is in windows, not this simpleton trendy crap which has barely any addons and they all suck!!!!!!!!

the stupid thing I found out just now can't play vids on cnn, ugh, what else can it not do on major sites?

  • Why are web developer tools not available on Firefox for Android?

I do some freelance web design. I just replaced my laptop with a tablet last year (Samsung Galaxy 10.5 S). I want to do web development on it - I work from a terminal doing Ruby on Rails and web development all the time. It would be awesome to have the F12 developer tools handy in Firefox for Android, but sadly I've waited for a while and there is no indication they will ever appear.
Do NOT suggest using a remote debugger - I'm not testing the layout of pages on my tablet, I want to be able to profile, view source (without an add-on) and such. I have seen this exact question marked closed by suggesting remote debugging, and I fail to see how telling me to use my tablet next to a laptop or desktop is a solution. Telling me to carry a second device means I don't need the tablet at all, when my intention is to ONLY use the tablet.
My tablet has a huge screen resolution and a powerful processor - more powerful than some laptops? Why is Firefox for Android neutered? I would understand disabling it by default to help those with less powerful devices, but why remove something that would add a competitive edge to your product, and is already integrated in desktop Firefox and has been for years? I prefer Firefox, but if Chrome adds web developer tools for Android first, I'll switch to Chrome.
There are people today using a tablet as their sole computing device. Please do not relegate us to a second-class Firefox experience!
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • Firefox for Android will not play mp3

Hi! Why does Firefox for Android will not play mp3? For example the tracks on this page do not play http://audiobook-online.com/?page_id=33 . Firefox for windows plays mp3.
    Alexander

    Hello,
I've just tested and the mp3s on that page work fine for me. When I first visited the site I see a prompt at the top of the screen: "This page contains plugin content. Would you like to enable plugins".
I clicked Activate and the audio played fine.
If the pop-up doesn't appear then you can try enabling plugins across all pages. See here:
[[How do I watch Flash videos with Firefox for Android?|Play Flash Content Without Tapping]]
But be aware that there are security implications with this option. It is safer to keep flash as tap-to-play. There is more information on this in the article.
    I hope that helps.

  • Firefox for Android slower, on page loading, than desktop version on the same hardware?

I did test Firefox for linux paralel to the Android version on the same tablet, in the exact same time.
    Mobile version: 22.0 - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
    Desktop version: 11.0 - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux; armv7l; rev:11.0) Geko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
Mobile version starts, indeed, faster (2-3s vs 7-10s) but page loading looks like it's being strangled by something.
Unlike desktop version, which, with it's rendering issues - I'm running it on top of an X11 framebuffer,
the mobile version can take up to 2 minutes to load a webpage like plus.google.com.
The Desktop version, running on the same tablet and taking cpu time along Android, takes less than one minute. I'm convinced it would be 2-3x faster running alone and even faster if the gpu would do the rendering.
On other pages the difference is even more striking...
And it‘s obviousv that it is not a rendering issue but a data transfer bottleneck.
Any idea on closing the gap on page loading times between the two, not involving slowing down the desktop version? :)
My hardware specs: Allview branded ly-f1 tablet, 1GHz Cortex A8, 1Gb DDR3 RAM, 8Gb internal nand flash
Android 4.1.1 and Ubuntu 12.04 lts compiled with hardfloat for armv7.
My internet connection being a 50Mb/s optical routed to a 802.11n 150Mb/s wifi router.
I would love to switch to Ubuntu only but I cant do that yet... Mali400 and cedarX still puzzle me and fellow linux geeks...

  • Why can't I install Firefox for Android on my Motorola Defy Mini? According to Antutu Benchmark system info, it has a ARM v7 CPU, so it should be compatible...

When I try to install Firefox for Android on my Motorola Defy Mini (XT320), Google Play Store tells me that my device is not compatible with Firefox for Android,so I cannot install it; according to Antutu Benchmark system info, the Motorola Defy Mini has an Arm v7 CPU installed, so it should be compatible with Firefox for Android...

Turns out it was a permissions issue, the files created by the certutil in the defaults folder got root only permissions given to them. I opened them up and it's working fine.

  • Why won't Firefox for Android on my Kindle Fire HD play YouTube videos?

The default browser (Silk) on the Kindle Fire HD plays YouTube videos. Both Firefox for Android and Silk obviously use the same operating system and hardware. What needs to be done to/with the Firefox for Android browser so that it will play YouTube videos. Firefox on my desktop machine plays YouTube videos.

There is the old insecure Flash 11.1 Plugin that Adobe (and Google Play) has not supported since Android 4.0. As long as you have Android 4.3 or older then you can get the Flash plugin to work in manual install though Android 4.4 has made it so Flash will not work.
However Mozilla has made a workaround for Flash can still work in Firefox on Android 4.4 in as early as Firefox 27.0 if I recall.
There is this thread on getting Flash installed however the poster mentions Dolphin and not Firefox instead.
    http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1D7SY3BVSESG&cdThread=TxTR71JR4GVXQM
Not that some sites (News sites are among some I encountered) have since lately been requiring users using Flash 11.1 on Android, PlayBook and Flash 11.2.x on Linux to upgrade to more current (not possible) to view their Flash videos.

  • Firefox doesn't detect text field on flash content in the Firefox for Android browser

Using the latest Firefox for Android from Google PlayStore as of 04/19/2013.
Installed Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.54).
Logged in with my account on www.chatango.com, which is a pure flash based site.
I can't type into the text field because the keypad doesn't popup when clicked on the field.

No, you have to click on "Login" and get in with your credentials. And then try sending someone a message. You won't be given a keypad to type with when you click on the input field. Why are you trying to do "Create A Public Group"? That wasn't what I meant when I wrote "Logged in with my account".

  • Firefox for Android 31 crashes constantly

I recently reinstalled Android OS on my tablet. Android 4 ICS)
I reinstalled Firefox, and then went to EFF to install their extension. I the discovered I had Firefox 31, and had to settle for a beta version of EFF's add-on.
Firefox keeps crashing. The Android FAQ's are no longer kept up-to-date, and the section covering slowness, crashing etc is absent!
I really need to revert to version 30, only updating when EFF have caught up.

    Hi!
I still don't know where to go to provide details of individual crashes in Firefox for Android.
Never mind. I decided to reinstall, so here's hoping it works better this time round. At least when I went to EFF I did not have to settle for the beta version of HTTPS Everywhere. The stock version installed straightaway with no dialogue box telling me my version of Firefox was incompatible.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Firefox for Android won't install on HTC Explorer

My HTC Explorer seems to have all the requirements for Firefox to be installed.
The screen resolution is 320 x 480 - more than the minimum spec.
The Android version is 2.3.5. - higher than the version quoted.
    HTC Sense version 3.5
But when I try to install from Play Store, I get the message
"Your device isn't compatible with this version".
Why not? Is there a version that IS compatible? And if so, where can I find it,
and what, precisely, is it called?

hello CambridgeChris, even if it's not available through the google play store, you can download all versions of firefox for android dirctly from mozilla's FTP server. details are available at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
however, since you device is rather low-spec and firefox on android is a full-fledged browser with its own rendering engine, it will require quite a lot of system resources - so you might not get the best experience out of it at your current setup...

  • Why does Firefox for Mobile v33+ have admob?

My Android phone's security software keeps blocking updates and uninstalling Firefox becase it detects the admob library. I want to know why Mozilla has been including admob since version 33.0, how it is being used, and wether it will remain part of Firefox in the future.

hello CyrusCT, the genuine firefox for android doesn't come with admob. this is likely a false positive or are you downloading the app from another place than the play store or mozilla.org?

  • Firefox for Android makes a hash of ABC iView

I tried to watch a video on Firefox for Android on my new Superpad 6 (Flytouch 6) running Android 4 last night. It insisted on loading its own iView app and then made a complete hash of presenting the video. Full screen gave a blank picture with sound. Upon pressing the back button I got a picture but when going back to select a different program the screen had zoomed in and would not un-zoom. I switched over to the browser that came installed on with the unit - which from the icon appears to be Quick ICS browser - and ABC iView worked perfectly without the need to load any sub-application that Firefox required.

You can use the 'request desktop site' option in Firefox's menu.
