Why is First Generation iPad not connecting to MacBook Air?

We received our daughter's first generation iPad. Whenever I connect it to the new MacBook Air the iPad will keep beeping, and give a message that "this iPhone is not longer connected to itunes" The beeping continues.
It connects OK to my Macbook Pro, but I don't want to sync it with the MacBook Pro.
I re-installed iTunes on the MacBook Air and then plugged in the iPad and got the message that the USB port was being disconnected because there was too much power draw on that port. The only USB connection is the iPad.
Any ideas on what this could be? I'm using a newer cable, the iPad was 45% charged. Is there some limitation of the power draw on the MacBook Air? Is this older iPad drawing more power than the MacBook Air is capable of?

- Macbook Air is plugged into external power
- I cleaned the connections on the iPad and on the cable
- Nothing changed, still get the USB power message and/or the message from iTunes that the device is no longer connected.

  • First generation ipad not accepting passwords for wifi

I have a first generation ipad -- 2 weeks ago it stopped connecting to wifi -- I enter the wifi password and it says "Incorrect password" -- I am positive the password is correct.  I have restarted, restarted the router, changed the router channel, called tech for my cable router, soft re-boot, hard re-boot, forget this network, reset network settings, and I just completed a complete wipe out of the ipad to start over... same problem, it says "Incorrect password" -- I am beyond frustrated at this point, can someone please offer some insight to this issue?!  I have already gone through all the steps listed on previous posts, its like the wifi just stopped working.   It will recognize my network but will not accept the password.  all other devices in our home work with the same network and password.
    Thanks for your help!!!!

When you say 'open up' - do you mean unlock it so a password is not required?

  • First generation iPad not updating to 5.0

i have a first generation iPad and it keeps saying no update available. currently running 4.2. any suggestions on how to get to 5.0? I am udpating using my Mac, running iTunes 10.5.
thank you in advance for any suggestions!
    Ankur

If 10.5 doesn't prompt you to download the update, and the Check For Updates button doesn't detect it, then you could try downloading the update outside of iTunes and then press and hold the command key on your Mac when clicking the Check For Updates button which should let you navigate to the downloaded file - this is the link for iOS 5.0.1 for the iPad 1

  • Why isn't the first generation iPad not supported by iOS 6?

I am totally confused. Why isn't the first iPad supported in iOS 6?
iPad 1: Apple A4 1GHz processor and 256 mb RAM
iPod Touch 3G: 800 MHz processor (same as iPhone 3GS) and 256 mb RAM
iPhone 3GS: 800 MHz processor (underclocked to 600 i believe)

3GS is still sold officially and new. iPad first generation isn't. Android is even worse about things like this.
PLEASE don't branch this into twenty different threads, and keep it in the two that already exist.

  • Camera not connected in macbook air ios 10.6.8

Camera not connected appeared in my macbook air when I tried to access camera booth yesterday. This happened in late 2011. I took the macbook to an apple service centre and was told that it was a hardware problem. I delayed sending it for repair and in the meantime in february 2012 there was a camera update which I installed and that solved the problem. Lately I had installed several updates and now I am faced with the similar problem of "camera not connected" when I tried to access photobooth and all the other applications that require a camera. I  need help as my extended waranty is about to expire in a few days time. I have not much confidence in the macs as I find that the camera goes missing after updates? Please help! Thank you

You need to take it into an Apple store to be fixed. You should of done that back when it first happened. I suggest you do it before your Applecare warranty runs out.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen will not connect to Macbook Air

Okay, so I've been trying to connect my iPod to my Macbook Air for a few days now to get some very important videos to transfer into iPhoto so I can get them sent to people that have been requesting them of me by their deadlines. I've also wanted to do some general charging of my device.
Here's the problem; when I connect the USB cord (Original one that I received with my iPod from Apple) to the only USB port the Macbook Air has, it refuses to connect, charge and/or synch with my computer. Up until about three days ago, it would connect and charge just fine with the computer, but now it is not.
When I plug the usb into my wall charger however, it recognizes and charges the device just fine.
I've had both my Air and iPod inspected recently at the Genius Bar, and there is NOTHING wrong with either device, so that is NOT the cause of the issue.
I want to know how to fix this, and whether or not buying a new cord would help, as I need the files on it to get to my computer ASAP. (Emailing the videos from the iPod is NOT an option as they're longer than one minute, and it will only let me email one minute clips.)

    I brought all three yeah.
And the guy that assisted me hooked it to their computers and it worked fine, and then he hooked it to mine and wiggled it around for a couple seconds and it worked for him but now I can't get it to do anything at all.
And as I said he checked the hardware and everything of both my Air and the iPod and said there was nothing wrong with it.
I'll try buying a new cord when I get paid and see if that fixes anything.

  • IPad sync connection to MacBook Air flapping

When I plug my iPad Air into my mid-2103 MacBook Air 11", the sync connection begins flapping right away. iTunes recognizes it for a second or two and starts the sync process in and the iPad starts charging, and then the connection drops. And then it connects. And then it drops. Ad nauseum.
I unplug it and plug it back in and it continues. I plug it into the other USB port and it continues. And after unplugging and plugging it back in several times, the iPad locks up. But after I do a reset on the iPad and connect it, it syncs fine.
Has been happening every time I try to sync for at least the last several months.
Looking for a solution or a nudge in the right direction.

iPad starts charging, and then the connection drops
Try a different USB cable from the iPad to your Mac to test.
Have you thought of using iCloud to sync data between your Mac and iPad instead? That way you don't have to connect the iPad to your Mac and sync using iTunes.

  • Iphone 4 not connecting with macbook air using USB

I am not able to connect my iPhone 4 with my Macbook Air using USB cord. Macbook Air is not able to detect the device.

I had this problem when connecting my iphone 4 to my retina MacBook Pro. The phone was running ios 6 but I updated it to ios 7 and since then it works fine with no problems. Try updating it to the latest software and see does that help!
