Why is Flash Player using 100% of my CPU?
I know this has been brought up before but over the last 2 days I have searched and not been able to find a real answer. Every time I go to a page with Flash my CPU usage spikes to 100% and stays there renering my computer (almost) useless. Youtube, Pandora, etc. all stream with poor resolution and very choppy. I have tried everything I know how (or have read about) and have had no luck solving the problem. Are there any real answers to why this is happening and how to make it stop?
To give a little background, I just reinstalled Windows XP on a Dell XPS with 4 GB RAM. It's got a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Video card with an up to date driver, I just installed Flash Player 12 and as far as I know, all other drivers are up to date as well. Any and all help would be appreciated. PLEASE, someone out there has to have an answer for thi, it's driving me nuts. Thanks.
Your "Plug-in Container" is corrupted.
download the following:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Flash Player Uninstaller
Also, download these:
Shockwave Player Uninstaller
Shockwave Player 112 FULL installer (ther browsers)
You'll need to install Shockwave with the FULL installer for IE too, but there isn't a direct download for it. You'll need to go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ using IE AFTER everything else is done.
Save all the files and close your browser.
Run the uninstallers first (both of them)
Go to: C/Windows/System32
Delete the Macromed folder.
Open your Registry Editor (Start>Run or press the Windows key + R and type 'regedit' [minus the quotes] and click OK)
In the Registry Editor, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE
Delete the Macromedia folder (Right click and choose "Delete").
Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder there too.
Close the Registry Editor and empty your recycle bin.
Run the Flash Player installers, and then the Shockwave FULL installer you downloaded.
Lastly, open IE and go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ to download and install the Shockwave FULL installer for ActiveX (IE).
For Firefox, I recommend FlashBlock (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/) It's prevent ANY Flash content from loading until you allow it manually. It can get to be a pain, but you eventually get used to it.

Adobe flash player uses 250% of my cpu playing videos...how is that possible?
That is totally possible if you do not have Flash set to
enable hardware accelerations. Right click on a playing
Flash video and select settings from the pop up.
Click the little monitor icon at the bottom left corner.
Check the check box "Enable hardware acceleration."
With out this set, the CPU does all the work of decoding the
video instead of the video card.
update:
As a quick check, went to Hulu and started an episode of
Warehouse 13. With hardware acceleration enabled, CPU
was at 37% for Flash. With hardware acceleration disabled,
this jumped up to 138%.
The test was done on a 2011 Mac Mini Server 2.0 GHz, quad core i7. -
Why Does Flash Player Use So Much Memory In Lion?
Forgive me if this has been asked, elsewhere. I have an issue I have been seeing since upgrading to Lion (10.7.3) and the latest version of Safari (5.1.3, I believe?). When browsing the web for a while (particularly, Flash heavy sites, I have noticed my computer's temperature getting hot and more beach balling starting to occur. The first time this happened, I opened Activity Monitor and noticed that Flash Player was using, almost, 900 MB of RAM (and I had less than 100 MB available). Other than Safari, I only had a couple of other applications open, neither of which were memory intensive. Quitting Safari gave me back a huge amount of memory, my temperatures, quickly, dropped back down to reasonable levels, and the performance lag went away. Anyone know why this is happening in Lion? I never saw this kind of memory hogging under Snow Leopard. Is Flash Player this much of a nuisance under, either, Firefox or Chrome? Is there anything I can do to alleviate this?
I have a 2010 MacBook Pro, 2.53 GHz, i5 with 4 GB of RAM.
Thanks.Clear your History and Cache more often.

Flash player using 100% cpu, unusable
Hi,
Flashplayer is constantly using about 70, 80 somtimes even 120% of my cpu !?!?!
using 10.6.2 and flashplayer 10.0.42.34
i'm now using ClickToFlash http://rentzsch.github.com/clicktoflash/ which works wonderful to regulate all the flash content while browsing
but I would rather have adobe build a solid flash plugin!!
any help recommend, thanxI use ClickToFlash to avoid flash unless it is necessary.
A brief description from the site.
Ever wanted to get rid of the scourge of the web that is Adobe Flash, but still retain the ability to view Flash whenever you want? With ClickToFlash, you can! Using ClickToFlash, all of those icky Flash bits that have infected most webpages on the internets are replaced with a nice, smooth gradient and the word "Flash" set in a nice, pleasing font. When you want to view the Flash, just click on it!

And how to get rid of flash cookies I use Flush.

I have been using NetConnection to implement record/playback feature in flash, but a lots of users recently complaint the flash player freezing the broswer randomly during the recording. so I did some investigation and found why the flash player hanging on the broswer.
it is because the flash player waiting a 'CLOSE_WAIT' tcp socket there forever.
tcp4 200 0 10.100.1.45.65508 158.205.xx.xx.80 CLOSE_WAIT
Background information:
os system: Darwin flash-iMac.local 9.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.8.0: Wed Jul 15 16:55:01 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.15.4~1/RELEASE_I386 i386
flash player version: You have version 10,2,152,26 installed
broswer: firefox3.6 (basically, other browsers have same problem)
so the issue is, the tcp socket connection will be closing by the peer, which just sent [FIN,ACK] to try close the socket, but the flash player have no intention to send [FIN, ACK] back to close the socket, I guess it might still want to send some data out, but even I invoked NetConnection.close method, the flash player has beening still hanging on there. so the funny thing is, if I unplug the network cable, the browser is able to wake up, I guess that is because the tcp socket is reset by RST, so the flash player catch the signal instead just stop there to wait something forever.
please guide me how I can solve this issue, it is obviously a flash player bug, whatever reason, you just cannot block the process forever. Here is the report of system when I force quit Firefox

I have thee Mac computers with Mac OS 10.6.8, one of which is a Mac Pro. No matter how many updates I install from Adobe, their Flash Player does not work on any of these 3 computers. I don't know how to contact Adobe Systems about this problem, but I think it is their responsibility to make sure that their so-called "universal" software works proplerly on a relatively recent operating system like OS 10.6.8 that is still in widespread use. When you install the updates, nothing happens -- not even an error message. What is the point of a universal player that is not universal? It works fine on my MacBook Pro with OS 9 Mavericks, but it does not work at all -- indeed, has never worked -- on my 3 Macs with OS 10.6.8. Has anyone contacted Adobe Systems to find out why the Flash Player does not work with OS 10.6.8 and what they plan to do about it?
Where are you getting Flash from?
Get the appropriate dmg installer here and then run it.
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
If it still won't install, do these two things: First uninstall any Flash by going into the second level Hard Drive Library>Internet Plug-ins, and trash the Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt. Then boot into Safe Boot, Shift at the startup chime (give it much longer than a usual boot) and run the installer while booted in Safe Boot. -
Flash player crashes 100% of the time
Over the past several weeks, Adobe Flash Player crashes 100% of the time. How can this be fixed?
I also have a problem with the AMD graphics driver and the catalyst manager.
Also, the g, h, 4, and / keys only work about half the time.
Are these problems all tied together?Turns out, there were crumbs of an old DW (cs1) still hiding out. With the newer UNINSTALL option, there is no more drag-app-to-trash (which caused the conflict). I used the adobe clean script to reinstall fresh, and all is good.

Why is Flash Player so slow?
I can't play HD videos from Youtube or Vimeo smoothly with Flash Player. (Flash 10.0.45.2, Windows XP SP3, latest ATI drivers)
The framerate is low and sometimes the sound and the video hangs. The problem is the same on Firefox 3.6 and Internet Explorer 8.
When I download the videos (with DownloadHelper) and open them with Media Player Classic and the FFDshow codec, it works perfectly. Unfortunately FFDshow can't be used for streaming, I always have to download the video first.
It seems that FFDshow is much faster than Flash Player.
Here's a vido who hangs on Flash Player but not with FFDshow : http://vimeo.com/8614771Speed problems with Flash usually have nothing to do with the computer, but rather with Flash itself. Unfortunately, Flash has become ubiquitous on the internet, especially when it comes to video. Flash certainly has its uses, but video is not one of them. I can normally run 3 HD videos on my computer simultaneously with no problems. Play even one video (not even HD) on my computer with Flash, and it uses 100% of my CPU and is still very choppy.

Why does flash player not work with facebook?
Why does flash player not work with fcebook? Whenever I wish to view a video, I get the message that i need to upgrade my flash player. Then no matter how often I download and install flash player I still get the message that I need to upgrade my flash player. When I go check which version I have, I always get the message that I have the most current one. I run Mozilla Firefox with Windows. I don't know anything else.
Message was edited by: khettichThis means you don't have the latest version installed. Update to 11.9.900.117, and Firefox will allow it: Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

Flash Player use to execute the main class entry point before rendering. Now it does not
Adobe Flash Player use to execute the main class entry point before rendering the first frame. Now using the latest browsers and Flash Player 11.8 (11.8.800.94, or 11.8.800.97 for Chrome).
With one of our swf apps, there are visual display objects on the first frame of the timeline. When the main class constructor is executed, those display objects are set to visible = false. So previously those display objects were never displayed because the first frame did not render until after the main class code was ran.
Now when we browse to the our website, we find that those display objects are visible for a split moment of time (such as a quarter of a second).
It appears that this may be a bug. We are wondering this could be new behavior based on loading/unloading the swf to optimize CPU usage and that Flash Player is taking a snapshot of the internal state of the first frame and displaying the cached snapshot before it actually loads.
So...Chris (or other Adobe representative), is Flash Player supposed to be rendering the display before any code executes it runs the main class? Not that I'm aware of. If this is something that just started with 11.8, then we could be running into some sort of bug injection. Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com? When adding the bug, please include sample code, application or URL so we can quickly test this out internally. If you'd like to keep this private, feel free to email the attachment to me directly ([email protected]).
Once added, please post back with the bug number and we'll investigate from there. -
Where and how can I know which version of http protocol that flash player used?
If flash player uses web brower's http protocol?
Is the EOB a PDF document?
Firefox updates every 6 weeks and the current version is 31.0. Rolling back almost 6 months is not recommended for security reasons. If that's their best answer, I suggest we either figure out a workaround for getting the document, or you just use a different browser for their site. -

Why did Flash Player install McAfee on my computer without my permission?
FiveKnives wrote:
I tried downloading Adobe today and it instantaneously started downloading McAfee WITHOUT MY PERMISSION
If you downloaded Flash Player from the standard location http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ then you WILL have the option to decline the bundled install:
If you download the installer from Mike's link above (which is posted several dozen times in this forum every day), then you will not get any bundled software. -
How to choose the speakers Flash Player uses?
How on earth do I choose the speakers which Flash Player uses?
I downloaded the latest Flash Player, and it worked fine. Then I had a Skype conversation, and now Flash uses the same "speakers" which Skype uses ie a USB headset.Flash player can no longer see the computer's speakers.
There seems to be absolutely no way in the web-based setup to tell Flash Player which sound output to choose. In Windows control panel (WIn XP SP3) the defaults for both sound and voice playback are set to the speakers (Realtek HD Audio) - Windows media player plays correctly over the speakers. If I right-click on an embedded video, I get a settings manager which lets me choose the microphone and camera Flash Player uses, but not the speakers. And I can't choose the speakers in the general sound controls of the Realtek HD audio, because those controls have no way of referring to any individual program. It is wierd!!!!
I don't think there is anything cracked or broken - it was fine this morning, now not. How do I get sound coming out of the speakers again?
Many thanks

Why does Flash Player keep sending me notifications to update to the version I already have?
Why does Flash Player keep sending me notifications to update to the version I already have? The result is always an error message telling me that the version is already running. (Desktop Computer; Windows Vista OS; Firefox; Adobe Flash Version 11.8.800.94)
I don't know; can you post a screenshot of such a notification?
Did you update both ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) and plugin (for Firefox)? -
